Indivisible: Lab Zero's Action-RPG! (General Discussion)

Visually reminiscent of Eliza.
Mmmmmmm...

Aside from the fact that Eliza is a ruthless villain and that's part of what makes her great.

If I were to make a popularity chart for the non-Prototype IGG roster, I'd consider Thorani at a firm #3. She's just had a boat load of fanart and interest since the campaign. Alex also had move ideas for her around the time of her reveal, so it just seems really likely that she'll be playable.

G&H are not main healers, they are /early/ healers.
Until we see some more characters that can heal a ton without using Iddhi Meter, it'll be hard to imagine another Incarnation getting quite on G&H's level. Since there aren't any consumables, I can see those two basically becoming like the various "Potions" of the game.

And Ajna herself, the protaggie is always the best. Could not have asked for a better-designed protagonist, even though we know little of her personality.

Yeah she's really well designed, with cool colors, a nice appearance and a very distinct silhouette. I love her and recently she has been a fave to draw tbh!

Also from what it's worth about Ginseng, quoted from the official blog (the article is from january but hey)

We realized we didn’t have a strong healer character in the early game, and so we created a new character to fill that role. Ginseng and Honey are the result!

So yeah, sounds like they're gonna be the early healers. I just hope "early healer" means that they're gonna be the first one and that other characters will have healing powers working differently, and don't make Ginseng and Honey obsolete later on. :x

Also i cannot wait to see Thorani, i still dig the slight ' Sogetsu from SamSho meets Shantae' vibe she has.
I kinda wonder if she'd have an ambiguous side to her like "whose side is she really on?" . 'w'

I don't think any characters are meant to be obsoleted ever, or at least I hope not.

Yeah they're not meant to, but i do wonder if people will end up being like "ok this character can do what this other one can, but better". This happens often in RPGs/action RPGs...
But i do hope this doesn't happen, don't get me wrong!

I think what will set Ginseng & Honey apart from any other healers in the game is their buff / de-buff capabilities (which might give them an edge on other healers in things like boss battles), and I think they'll be the only healer that's pretty much completely supportive.

Thorani pretty much seems like the second viable healer, but I'm sure from the concepts we saw I'm sure the team wouldn't want to waste any of her cool water hair attack capabilities. I feel like she'll be a mixed fighter / healer.

I'm actually really looking forward to who the other potential healers might be. Other than Thorani, not a lot of the remaining incarnations seem to give off the healer vibe. So if they get healing capabilities, it will probably be incorporated in a pretty interesting way.

alright, while she doesn't necessarily appeal to me, i now understand why people like Thorani

visually reminiscent of Eliza.
but that's implying that Eliza's an actually likable character (i hate Eliza so much)

maybe kogi, zahra, and tatanka could have some healing powers, kogi through his cooking, zahra through her music, and tatanka through his spirits (maybe).

"Likable" is one thing.

"Amazing" is another.

I like Kampan, but maybe her design is a bit too reminiscent of Vi from League of Legends, except Vi has two fists instead of one.

Wouldn't mind a slight design revision, as in changing some details about her steampunk aspect while still keeping the spirit of the concept art.

Speaking of Kogi... uhm, a little known site has some... images... of him with Beowulf.

I uuhhhhhh... guess he's popular too?

i still hate her, and nobody can convince me that she's anything but trash. why couldn't we have had someone that isn't the worst in every sense of the word, like panzerfaust or scythana,

Hate to resurrect the Waifu Wars, but Egyptian Deco Lore Villain, "Diva Doom" is awesome. As much as I love Tank Fist, and probably would've voted for him at the time, I'm glad we got "wow this is everything I want in a villain."

I mean, you might as well say, "Why did Mr. Boring Wrestler Memes win over Isaac or Marie?"

So, uh, about Indivisible... I've got to say, I've kinda lost some hype. Is this just me? Has the game kinda gone to the background for anyone else? I mean, I'm glad I helped back it, but I don't know. Maybe this is just the normal hibernation, an economic loading screen?

Wat

We're finally hitting that point where we see them animate the characters that was my absolute favorite part about Skullgirls indiehogo im hyped

Wait, Skullgirls had waifu wars? I never knew that. As for Eliza, i could go over why i hate her, however there will always be people who think she's great, and i don't happen to be one of those people so i'm going to stop berating her before i say something i regret.
Finally, I see indivisible as like an old train, at the beginning everyone had to pitch in to get it up and running, and while it's still chugging along, people are still getting excited at news of how far it's gotten and people are still eagerly awaiting for it to reach it's destination, most people are not as excited as when it first started, but i feel that everyone is going to be celebrating when it's finally reaches the end.

Well, like we were talking about a while ago in the Speculation thread, I really like how the characters' designs have still been emphasizing their unique traits, such as Qadira being pushed to a stronger defensive role, and Baozhai being buffed in all of her ranged tactics. There hasn't been much overlap yet, so it seems like character variety will definitely be a thing with this roster.

But like you're saying, I wouldn't be surprised if some team combinations still ended up coming out stronger than others. Ideally, outside of speedrunning, it could play out like Skullgirls where every player can complete most of the game with a couple favorite teams for certain "matchups," like having a favorite offensive team and a favorite defensive team. I'm really interested to see how that synergy plays out with the Backer Preview characters, and what people might figure out for the Contest.

Yeah the Skullgirls waifu war was something... I followed this from afar but.... yeah, lol

And yeah so far everyone seems really different in Indivisible.... I guess i'm just worrying for little. I don't mind some combinations feeling stronger I just hope we don't end up straight up benching units. Though I guess that part is up to us.
I do know what of my fave things to do will be mixing characters together to test how they compliment each other and all that stuff.

And @The Dave yeah? I guess L0 has been a bit quieter but it's understable... A lot of games go a bit more silent when developpment is up. Plus even here we got music tracks previews, updates on gameplay, characters, etc...
I bet when the beta is out it'll change though!

Some cool stuff from yesterday's stream! Focused on the Iron Kingdom, textures work and that stuff, and some sneak peeks at other places.

I can only recommend people to actually check the stream archive, we got to see how the editor works! Neat stuff tbh

Wow. For some reason I totally brainfarted and up until now was assuming, that we won't get into Iron Kingdom territory. Maybe because I thought that you're not suppose to invade the invader, idk. Or maybe because Alex said they wanted to concentrate on cultures that aren't based on western countries. Silly me I guess.

Yeah, there was concept-art for the Iron Kingdom too, back in the day, would have been a shame if we couldn't visit this place...

Oh yeah there's that too.

Looks like we'll visit Sumeru! Also... underworld? Oh my :o
Also we can see several "connecter" zones, joining levels together.
Oh, and also a new place called Kaanul?

I missed watching most of it live yesterday, but the archive was still a treat with all of that new stuff. I loved seeing that snippet of Fortress Vimana, and just how close everything is sticking to the concept art. It was also great to get an actual peek at that rooftop platforming in the Iron Kingdom that we speculated on before.

The way they can use the level editor to place textures and lighting now is really cool too. It's such a huge leap from the tools they had available before.

Was super cool to see environments worked on, I was pretty surprised to see anything Iron Kingdom related yet.

Really hope we're going to see the in game inner realm soon. The concept art of it looked great I can't wait to see the final product.

It was part of the levels list on the screenshot i posted... Let's hope we get to see it soon. 'w'

cut off date is the end of this year.

so toss in money now and get the game and the goodies

and get us to the last stretch goal
How's the status on that now? How close are we to the final stretch?

we are at $2,108,005 right now.

we need $2,300,000.

so we are roughly $191,995 away from our goal. with About 5 months left to raise the money

Once the backer build is in the wild it might get some attention on Youtube, other than that and the new add-ons I don't know what else could come that would boost us to that goal.

Would peeps even be allowed to stream and post videos of the backer build?

yeah i don't see why not.

it would contain stuff that we already know. and nothing spoiler like due to it having no story elements in it

More exposure for the game is good for Lab Zero, I don't see them not allowing it.

Unless an NDA's called, I don't believe it'll be locked away. I get the feeling they want to get this game seen.

Well there probably will be some kind of boost at the very end, cause there always is in this type of deal.

Yeah we need that exposure... Pretty sure hitting the last goal will be harder otherwise.
Plus yeah showing progress on the game is always good "Hey remember that game from half a year ago? We made progress on it!", some people want to see where their money went and kinda feel like when seeing posts on twitter that goes "what happened to that Indivisible game?" that they just don't know about the progress made on the game? To be fair no big names made new vids on the game since it got funded (I remember a video by YoVideoGames a while ago but that's it.)
Oh well.

I'm sure we'll at least get a video from our good friend Arin when the Beta is released, just like with the Prototype.
Or OneyPlays.

Okay, I don't know about that one, but maybe I can find a way to send them some shit.

Ah, there's that too, from the AX panel i believe?

Looks like Kaanul is part of the North region?
And yeah Sumeru appears on that pic too, at the bottom.

There's some weirdass designs on that... I love it. Can't wait to see those monsters in action.

There's still so much to study in that picture...

Vimana just contains the obvious, though I do like that they all share the same color scheme. Judging from the bottom right we will be facing off against some Iron Kingdom soldiers (can't befriend 'em all...), as well as a smaller drone-like enemy, and some larger war machines likely as bosses. The small gear creature is a part of that tileset too. "Desert/????Maerita" has all the previously shown enemies and....a blue-red robot? That doesn't fit in a desert. Hmmm.

Everything in top-right "Lhan??" just terrifies me, with the gigantic elephant dude, that huge, white tiger-like....thing, and the even bigger biped standing behind it. Even the mermaid-like creature looks too formidable to be a normal enemy. Saving that area for last if we get the choice. "Kaanui" appears to contain the "mystery demon girl" from Alex's drawings (you can see the hair feathers), with a similar biped very close at her side, almost to imply they will be battled as a pair? There's a bird-like enemy, and two larger boss-type enemies we (probably fortunately) can't fully see. The "ominous machine" from Alex's sketches is also in this corner, but this may just be a coincidence.

Sadly, the area i'm more curious about, Sumeru, is on an adjacent table, i guess they ran out of wall space. Pictured is a ring-shaped enemy (possibly inspired by the ring-shaped angels described in the bible?) and a very large divine-looking, winged creature, though it looks somewhat mechanical too. This fits with Alex's statement that not all Devi are necessarily humanoid, but it leaves the question of why Ajna will be fighting these (presumably benevolent?) beings, wide open.

And as a side note, the colored stickers are interesting. L0 is making very impressive progress if "Done" means completely, fully animated. "Med" I assume means halfway there, and..."Hard"? I guess not only incomplete, but they're really not looking forward to doing it either. Three of the bosses are also labeled with sadly-illegible blue stickers.

Whew, sorry for the wall of text.

It's probably bad that I know what you're talking about...

Anyways, looking that AX Panel still, the big boss from Kaanul all the way on the right reminds me of the Aztec goddess Coatlicue. It's mainly the two snake blobs blobs coming out of her dress, which pretty much combines her usual depictions as a two headed snake lady and her name, which means something like "snake skirt." According to Aztec myth, Coatlicue was beheaded by her children, lead by her daughter, the moon. This boss is probably going to lose her head when she dies too.

If Sumeru is like the equivalent of heaven, then the circle enemy from Sumeru might be based on Ophanim, which are literally burning angel wheels. Maybe these enemies will have some fire based attacks?

The merperson from Lhan reminds me of nagas, specifically the ones from SMT. Naga Rider already has nagas, but his are more benevolent-Buddha-sheltering-Mucalinda type nagas than enslave-your-sister-and-her-kids-Kadru type nagas.
