Anime/Manga General Discussion

Yeah that old guy is known to give off colorful opinions on various topics in the anime verse which some might argue is part of his charm.
Care to share some of his quotes? I'm curious.

Also, this getting an anime adaptation is making me pretty hyped.

Arcade Romantic Comedy Manga Hi Score Girl Gets Anime
ANN said:
The "'90s arcade romantic comedy" begins in 1991, during the heyday of the 2D fighting game boom. Sixth-grader Haruo spends practically his entire day at an arcade in the seedy part of town, oblivious to the world around him. However, one day at his usual arcade, he encounters Akira, his female classmate with good grades and money. She may look out of place at the arcade, but she is actually a top-class gamer. Akira completely outmatches Haruo in one Street Fighter II round after another, and their relationship develops from this unlikely encounter.

I heard about that, but I wasn't really interested. Is it any good?

meh, I hope there will be enough time to do part 4 as well. Part 3 has just been done more than the rest of jojos.

It's hard to judge it as only 1 chapter has been translated. That being said, it does have a lot of SF2 references, from the classic portraits parodies to tactics like how the MC's Guile tries to keep the girl's Zangief away with low forward, sonic booms and flash kicks and finish it with a tick-throw.

Hey I saw this thing on Tumblr called "All Rounder Meguru."
Tell me, is this what I think it is? Is this a Slice of Life Manga about MMA fighters? Is this a Manga that I can actually relate to? Is this the thing that's finally going to get me into reading Manga? Is this worth reading?

Iunno. I was blessed(cursed) with being very empathetic, so just about anything is relatable for me...it sucks. But I hope you find a manga(or comic) you can call home!

But I just watched Baccano! again a d I have to ask: why isn't this whole thread nothing but talk about how awesome Baccano! Is?

This might just be a misunderstanding, but just because I can't relate to all Manga doesn't mean I'm not empathetic.

As for your Baccano! question, I'm right there with you. Best voice acting in an Anime I've ever heard. Unfortunately I haven't finished it yet because it's a series I started watching with my Sister and we kind of just stopped one day. Now that our College Winter Break has started I should finish it with her.

I just watched air, it was really sad.. but it was also a bit confusing i am not entirely sure about some of the ending.

so, I'm kinda interested in checking out gatchaman crowds.

how is it? PS: I dont care if its nothing like the original gatchaman, I just think it looks interesting.

I liked it a lot, but the ending seemed a little too cliche for such a subversive show.

For those who haven't heard already, it was revealed after the OVA episode that the 2nd season of SAO was confirmed.

GGO time. Commence the inevitable mixed reactions to this news.

Looks good, I hope the show is as good too, but I doubt it will (I can still dream though).

Yeah...from what I hear about that work...

Story is about this bro/sis relationship. Not surprising the sis has a bro complex, but the bro has a hidden sadistic nature under his gentle exterior. Sis has a crazy supernatural yandere mode (because of some virus) that makes her want to eat human flesh and the brother has remarkable regeneration factor (some infection I guess) that would rival wolverine to the point that the sister can eat him and he would still be fine afterwards. Brother becomes sis food source so sis don't eat innocent people. Quite the abnormal relationship to say the least.

I thought Aki-Sora was the most disturbing/awkward sibling relationship based work lol

Oh...okay that's not as bad as I thought. Still kind of creepy though.

So, Space Dandy leaked. So much for world premiere on Toonami.

goddangit. who made us go back to space prematurely?

What the fucking Hell?
I thought SnK was fucked up with the eating of people.

Whelp, according to MyAnimeList it's only 5 minutes per episode so I highly doubt it'll be anything special. Who knows though, if they managed to pull that twist off in less than a minute who knows what they can do in 5 (other than potentially destroy my hopes).

Speaking of which, does anyone have any series with short episodes to recommend? I've seen Hetalia (kind of meh, even though I understood most of the historical references), Plastic Nee-San and Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san!, and am planning to watch Tonari no Seki-Kun sometime soon.

I thought B Gata H kei was pretty good. and its short.

NiseKoi anime trailer with English subs

Produced by SHAFT (yes that means you will see some excessive head-tilting, various camera angle shots, and gorgeous if also crazy animation sequences) and airs on January 11th.

The manga got a solid 7/10 (plot/romance whenever it happens is meh, but the comedy portion is respectable with the ridiculous situations/facial expressions and various colorful characters present ) from me, but the anime version can potentially make this work better.

So I just watched Gyo...

I think I need to lie down for a bit.

Gyo has an OVA. From what I've read, it's not a particularly good adaptation, but the only Ito stuff I have read is the first volume of Uzumaki so I can't do a comparison.

Not really a spoiler, but:
Overall it was pretty meh. I think the only thing that really impressed me was the plane landing scene - almost everything else was actually kinda boring

Wait, how did Uzumaki end up live-action? I'd have thought all of the super crazy spiral stuff would have been much easier to animate.
