Indivisible: Lab Zero's Action-RPG! (General Discussion)

narssus
Where did you see him getting worked on 0_0. He's the last character left for my team.

well ravidrath said there would be 24 playable characters out of the original 28 not counting ginseng and honey, that means that 5 will be left behind.
They've also said since the campaign ended that not everyone revealed is meant to be playable, that there are other incarnations. So are you saying Peter said we'd get 24 of the campaign revealed ones or 24 over all?

he said we'd get 24 characters that are playable, also i thought the only ones revealed that were not originally meant to be playable were those four weirdos on the campaign page (blacksmith women, scroll man, herbalist lady, and painter guy) and that the other 28 were meant to be playable. finally when i said that 5 will be left behind i meant that they won't be playable, but having them get in as npc's or bosses would be awesome (its apparently happening to vasco, so why not.)

P.S. nice sandman icon.

I feel like @Ravidrath has clarified this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it on SH at least, however @Mike_Z actually did around the end of the campaign.

Also just on the number of incarnations Peter originally stated in the Reddit AMA during the IGG they were looking at 27 (I don't believe this counted guest characters, not sure about backer ones. And either way, as you've said, 28 were revealed for the campaign), February this year the number had become "25 minimum" (definitetly not counting guests), and then we got 24 (still not including guests) later this year and that's the last we've heard so far? Though Mike on one of his implementation streams when asked "Does Toko still exist" answered that the answer was more complicated than "yes" or "no" because there are factors that mean some characters may or may not exist (I'm paraphrasing off memory from a 3 AM Twitch stream at this point, so don't take it to heart), so we don't know what that means for some characters and since there is quite a bit of extra funding that isn't going to the stretch goal that could potentially effect some of this? I don't know, beyond that it will go to making the game better. I think it was mentioned somewhere that giving incarnations multiple supers contributed to lowering the number since it was higher cost per incarnation (which I don't really mind the idea of since it gives each one more depth). If someone from LZ is reading this and I screwed up anything I'm sorry.

P.S. nice sandman icon.
Thanks, been going back through it a bit lately since I found out Jill Thomson made kids books about The Endless which I promptly grabbed for my daughter.

"This was always planned as a post-release thing, but there aren't any guarantees now and it really depends on what our current situation is when the game is released."

You know what, that's not a confirmation and I won't call it as such? But it's better than zero.

i like to think of it as the "If we're super lucky we might be able to stretch for it kinda like what we did for the extra bonus stuff for SG"

aka

Mike might just build parts of the extra dungeon in his spare time once the main game is close to done.

Damn Dhar looks so pretty...

"Out of curiosity what were those different endings going to be like. Full fledged endings or joke endings like in Chrono Trigger?"
"Probably closer to Chrono Trigger."

According to Peter on the resetera thread, so i guess this answers my previous question about the multiple endings. 'w'
Also, from the same thread :

"We've already put out an update that fixed some bugs that people reported.

We plan to put out a bigger one in a few months with updated gameplay mechanics, etc."

@Shan Oh, man! Is this to say we might have another backer Preview Coming Up? That'd be awesome if that's the case!

Frankly, I love most of the adjustments they made compared to the demo, and I'm curious what they would come up with after another few months. Every day, I'm glad that this game got funded!

By the way, I've been following the forum for a while, but just now started up an account. Nice to meet you guys.

more like an update to the preview.

this was stated years ago when they first said there was going to be a beta for the game, and people asked if it was going to be like the endless beta for SG. which it will kinda be like. There will be different mechanics to try out and the teams will swapped out so you can try them out.

that said you can still get a taste of what characters can do and their moves if you follow the animators on streams and Mike when he does coding/implementation.

Meanwhile I'm still waiting for that Linux build so I can play it at all...

Hey, welcome here have a good time! And yeah that is as Ninja said, the plan is to update the preview every now and then.

I never got to enter 'cause the lunix build still isn't out :(

Oh so they really didn't want a glitch run. I was so sure havik9 was gona get it. Congrats to the winners.

Ahhhhhh damn, all I had to do was just complete a 100% run, no matter how slow, and I could have been named as a runner-up to that category?

Oh well, At least I am one of the twenty who actually submitted my "Clear" time. It's appalling how puny our turnout was. Shame on all of you guys for being bad at speedrunning and/or modest about your speedrunning skillz and possessed of a crippling fear of success!

Aww, in hindsight i really should have sent something... :/ It's my fault for thinking i wouldn't have a chance. ><
Well congrats to the winners!

Havic didn't submit his run since he won last time.

We got an interview by Edge! Not much really new here but here is an interesting bit :

I'm starting to realize why RPGs have so many bugs. In a fighting game, you spend months looking at the same character, you implement a thing, you try all the edge cases you can think of, you find bugs. You're staring at the same part of the game for a long time, so you find a lot more of the problems.
But in a RPG, or something with a giant world, you test every edge case you can think of in 15 minutes and then have to move on. It's a lot of work - I slept some time last year - but it's something we want to be doing.

I know you're just joking here, but it really was a tough time of the year for people to grind out runs. I think I only had free time to do maybe 8 total playthroughs of the Preview before the deadline, thanks to the holidays. I'm just glad some of you guys were able to find time to put out some good runs regardless.

Although now, my issue is that I just don't like doing the boss skips. The fights are so much more fun. I start a run thinking about playing for speed, and then I decide to just kill everything instead.

Oh hai Ren

Stupid sexy Ren

the redesign looks great, and I dig the long range game his moves fall under
reminds me of Scarecrow in Injustice 2

I have a great approval for when he's doing his hand signs for his level 1 Iddhi super he does the middle finger trick at the end.

Yeah, as someone who loves doing that for shits and giggles every once in a while I really appreciate that.

Seems like a stretch, I can't imagine Mike would ever reference that game.

Is it just me or does his idle animation look more "wiggly" than his other animations? Like Ed Edd and Eddy style animation.

Thankfully, Ren's acquired an immunity to iocane powder over the years. Inconceivable, I know. :P

I think the Clean-up artist could have been a lot tighter on areas like the feet and hair, but in general the wiggles are pretty typical. If you use the Backer Preview's zoom-in and look closely at spots like Ajna's shirt collar during her idle, you'll notice similar wiggles. Those things just stick out more when you're looking at frames very large and timed slowly like in the GIF.

is it weird that i'm a guy and as soon as i saw ren licking his blade i felt both uncomfortable and turned on?

P.S. it looks like ren is going to be the kongol of this game.

My reaction seeing him honestly

He is absolutely gorgeous I love him... aaaaa

W-well.... Talking gameplay wise, he looks cool too, digging the fact he actually dodges attacks instead of blocking, even magical ones.
Also i've always had the headcanon he's like, immune to his own poison (think Killua in Hunter X Hunter, who's been poisoned so much he built an immunity to every poison.)

His moves remind me of a certain character from a certain game but I REALLY CAN'T PUT MY FINGER LOW ON IT.
He reminds me of Sonic from ONE PUUUUUNNCCCHHH Man.
