Indivisible: Lab Zero's Action-RPG! (General Discussion)

Was about to post this, hahah

OOoh shit she's gorgeous!

A very cool update, I'd say. It's basically all but confirmed Tenoch's quest line in the game. Whether or not that quest is as a party member, I cannot say. Still, the descending aesthetics of the level design are absolutely superb.

Also, gotta say, the side characters they added for this update are delicious, even if they are a bit vague. Still, definitely an area I'll be looking forward to visiting. :)

Yoo this is such a cool looking place! I' ve been waiting to see what it'd look like for a while... I'd say this is my fave looking place of all we've seen so far to be honest.
Also finally we get to see that bird lady too, and more npcs, i love it. The snake queen is so cool and nice looking!!

Kinda sad for Tenoch but hey, i guess he just didnt have a place to fit.

I have to say i'm really liking the snake queen and the tzitzi (they look really fine) and I'd like to say i'm sad to see tenoch go but in all honesty not only do hunoch and xiboch look way cooler than him but because there are two of them they're most likely not playable characters and so I can look forward to the cooler characters getting playable status.

P.S. Really looking forward to exploring the abyss (i mean just look at the similarities)

Yeah, we've actually had hints for a long while that Tenoch might have turned plural, so it's good to finally see the confirmation on that. Assuming Xib&Hun are playable, which I do, it makes sense gameplay-wise to have that combat style represented by two characters, because now you can imagine them being able to set up more interesting attacks by passing the ball between each other like in their sport. Since they're wearing the same uniform, then they can also share some animations using palette swaps.

I'm not usually a fan of water levels but I'm glad to see Ajna may be getting swimming animations.

please no.

But honestly, the Snake Queen alone won me over (delish)

Her and Tzizi, look at (what we can see of) her chest! Why does everything in this game have to be so t h i c c ?

I'm not actually complaining, obviously. And can we just appreciate the fact that the first sketch of the Haven looks exactly like a classic Metroid "tall" room?

Frankly, I think this would be an absolutely awesome concept if they went through with it. Though I'd imagine it'd be difficult to pull off mechanically, unless it was part of a Special that they could switch places or something. Also the fact that we've only got a concept sketch rather than a character sheet is slightly disheartening at this time. Still, keeping up hopes, and excited that this update has garnered a lot of hype.

Loving the development of this game :)

Thinking about it, there's a practical benefit to "wider" characters- more room to draw features or details, fits better on a 16:9 screen. Having a generally chunky "baseline" gives plenty of room to design taller, shorter, thinner, thicker characters. If everyone is Painwheel, it's harder to make "the Painwheel of Painwheels."

I, for one, am down with the thicc-ness.

Well Heruka Ajna is already the Dark Souls Painwheel of Indivisible, so how do you out-Painwheel that? I sorta get what you're saying though, even I don't exactly understand how a certain baseline would allow more design freedom. Ajna is definitely a good baseline seeing as how she's quite short, stout and normal-shaped, so it's easy to make silhouettes that are different from her.

The Snake Queen is bige for sure, compared to Ajna... Also looks like we will fight her and i'm super excited about it.
Tzitzi at least doesn't totally dwarf her, from the looks of things.

Sekhmet. Not Eliza, Sekhmet.

You know how Tim Burton's works all kind of look the same? Because "goth-phase Johnny Depp" is his baseline, he can't really have anyone thinner or paler. This is especially apparent in his stop motion works- Corpse Bride Johnny Depp is literally as thin as a skeleton.

Oh man, that is gorgeous, I'm really digging the use of blue in these pics and holy crud, that Snake Queen <3. I've been popping in and out of the thread over the past year or so and it's awesome to see how the development is trucking along. This thing is gonna be friggin' golden.

Disappointing to hear Tenoch got replaced. I won't mind too much if Hunoch and Xiboch are usable incarnations, but I doubt they are. It also seems that in the process of reivsing this stuff, the inspirations switched: Tenoch (and the Tenoctitlan inspired area) was based on Aztec/Mexica culture, wheras Kaanul and it's inhabitants (even the Cenotes) are explictly Maya themed, with one exception:

Lots of cool little things related to Mayan mythology here. Tzitzi is referencing Tzitzimitl, and the wonder twins are referencing Xbalanque and Hunahpu. Makes up for Tenoch getting axed.

Tzitzimitl are still Aztec, not Maya. I find it strange they'd keep an Aztec reference in given everything else is shifted over to being Mayan. This gives me some hope that the Tenochtitlan based area might not have been entirely replaced by Kannul.

For those who aren't aware, Tenochtitlan was the de facto captial city of the Aztec empire. It was built on an island in the middle of a lake, and was expanded over time with a series of artificial islands with canals between them, and had an insanely complex series of causeways hydraulic systems, aqueducts, and dikes to move water around the city, the lake itself, and connecting to other towns and cities on the shorelines of the lake. So it was basically Venice, except it was way bigger: With 250,000 people, it was outright tied for the 5th largest city in the world at the time, as large as the biggest cities in europe.

It's an amazing setting that is unfortunately in like, zero videogames in a meaningful way period. I would be very, very saddened if we lost this, but with the Tzitzimitl characer being the only remaining vestiage of the Aztec influences, I can't imagine the Tenochtitlan area is still in.

Kannul is still very cool, i'm happy to see any sort of Mesoamerican representation, but it's still a shame.

I realized that Tzitzimitl were Aztec haha. There's still another Aztec reference though. Even though the name of the ball game went from Ollamalitztli to Tlatchlibol, Tlatchlibol is still Aztec. I'd really like for the Tenochitlan based area to still be around too, but Kaanul is still nice. At least L0 is not complete mixing the two cultures up or something.

Heh, wouldn't actually mind something original created by mixing the two.

What if the Tenochtitlan inspired area was still around but like, abandonned.
Or maybe there's two cities, like so far we don't know where Nuna is from i believe right? Maybe she could be from here. What are her inspirations, i forgot... ><

Damn, now the fact Dhar shares a very similar move with Carmine now makes perfect sense... :PUJNA:

Who is this agian? I know it's a backer character but i forgot the other details.

The Baz, which is the character submitted by the Zaibatsu.

The Baz is a boss right? He has a nice design, so would be cool if he was playable but either way, loving it.

Going to be forever disappointed in not getting this boss design. The vote was a mistake.

Unless this is a final form thing or something.

I don't remember what tier the Zaibatsu got, but I would assume it was the one to get a fan-submitted Incarnation.

Boss.

That design should be final given that it actually fits the game far better than just a guy with a chain. Then again it could indeed be an alternate form, I'm pretty sure L0 would want to go out of their way to make a backer bossfight as epic as possible.

Let's be honest the Baz doesn't use the Tribaz form because he wants to give Ajna and her friends something ressembling a chance of winning, that's all. :p

EDIT: persona streamed some Baz stuff yesterday and :eyes:

I mean, it's too good to not use if they have the ability to go for it, hence bringing it up at all in the spoiler, didn't know if a backer boss would have that amount of resources.
