Soul Series

I don't get why he wasnt confirmed along with nightmare... this isn't really hype or anything it's to be expected

Pleasantly surprised, thought he wasn't gonna make it due to the fact that Nightmare was in and this was Soul Calibur 1/2-ish era.
The fact he's kinda in purgatory is really interesting.

It's neat that he uses fire instead of ice, kinda symbolizing the burning struggle he's having before he cools down into the good Siegfried.

I like that she has her mask again
but the runes that show up are a little hard to take seriously when they're on her boobs

No one complained when algol had it

She looks great.
I'm very glad they fused her and natsu's playstyles cuz they're both fun characters but Taki is very clearly the better designed one.

Also thank god, I love they brought the mask from SC3 back, such an underrated SC game.

Unpopular opinion: I find talk kind of boring mainly because she doesn't have much of a reason to get involved in the sword conflict since she's being chased by her old clan. At least Natsu had a goal.to be involved in some of the plot, albeit that goal being finding taki.

such an underrated SC game.
Wasn't SC III just a broken glitchfest?

I guess so but like... it had the largest roster in the series to date, iconic new characters (Tira, Zasalamel, and Setsuka) and objectively the best single player mode out of any of the games thus far.

That game may have been buggy but it's also probably one of if not the most impressive Soul Calibur game made.

Not to mention it was the first to do character creation.

That game is fucking iconic and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise lol.

SCIII was the only of the series I played so far, but DAMN it was great. Definitely my favourite 3D fighter to date.

I also did not notice any glitches.

Same. I don't understand what people are talking about.

I miss Revenant. Wish it was a roster-legit character so to speak. Hope he comes back along with Zasalamel.

Man, I should get back into SC.

The Chronicles of of the Sword was one of my favorite things in all of Soul Calibur.

So I decided to read up on some Soul Calibur stuff at work today and I was bored.
So... allegedly, Soul Calibur V had a number of factors running Against it:
  • It was B-team game (Yikes)
  • It was headed by a director who had more experience with Street Fighter 3 Third Stirke (Uh Oh)
  • IT WAS ONLY 1/4TH COMPLETE

No wonder it wasn't too good, holy crap.

it was made entirely in about 10 months too

(also the story was only 1/4 complete, hence inconsistent stuff like ZWEI and Viola being billed as big story characters and then doing nothing)

V is a great game though, you know, if you want to play a fighting game.

I understand and even agree with disappointments a lot if people have with that game, but at the end of the day it was still a decently high tier fighter.

Yeah a big factor why like people hate the next gen characters is not only replacing beloved characters but we never know why. Lexia, Xiba, Natsu, and Maxi are all travelling together to look for Taki and Kilik, Algol was setting up something in Astral Chaos, Astaroth was being mass produced...

And all this info is only found in the art book of SCV. I defend ACC from a lot but this is Blazblue levels of lore digging

EDIT: On top of that, the SC crew kind of had an implosion in terms of how they wanted the series to go. Which explains Lost Swords and the radio silence since

I, for one, like SCV. I consider it a guilty pleasure. I just wished they didn't put the axe of additional customisation parts for the character creator at the time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again
SCV is a remarkably well-made game for something that had dev cycle of only 10 months

it's not the king of that compliment (that's mega man 7) but it's seriously a good game for what it had to work with

SCV is:

a good fighting game
good with customization
filled with many mechanics and unlockables

it is not:

a good story mode
a good ending to previous characters to allow successor characters room to ease in
a satisfying start to a new generation

6's guest character is going to be Geralt right?

I'm okay with that. Hope char customization will be back so I can make my own tho.

Edit: I guess 2B isn't happening is she?

I believe they confirmed that there would be guest characters
but i could be wrong and Geralt's on the box so he's obv the big draw of the game so who knoooooows

I do remember a mention that there definitely is more than 1 guest. I'm not able to dig it up unfortunately.

I'm still expecting some Nier character

which I would just about die for

No clue who else would be interesting to me, probably nobody.

Tekken 7 had 3 Guest Characters.
Soul Calibur 4 had 3 Guest characters.
SC4’s guest characters all came from Star Wars and one of those 3 is considered the most bullshit character in the soul series.

Like, y’all can talk all kinds of shit about 3, but at least 3 didn’t have Yoda.

but at least 3 didn’t have Yoda.
Was Yoda shorter than Tekken 3's guest?

Bloodborne would need to be a PS4 exclusive guest if they added someone (Lady Maria would be the best so we could get her ballin' Czech voice)

so idk if they'd go that route

They were fine having console exclusive characters for NO reason before, don't see why they wouldn't have one with a reason now. Though arguably that was a long time ago.

If they did, Xbone would need something.
Probably Spinal or Tusk
Hisako is right there
give Cervantes a ghost waifu

They're definitely not going to have console exclusive guests, especially since there are 3 whole platforms it's gonna be on. Way too complicated.

Also I highly doubt Lady Maria would be a character because they'll probably announce Cervantes soon and honestly we don't need more sword users, especially since we don't even have our signature dual sword user yet lol.

we don't need more sword users
You do realize "sword user" applies to an extremely high number of actual fighting styles, right?

Yeah I'm not an idiot.

In this instance we are talking about adding a dual sword wielder into a game with a very notorious and popular dual sword wielder.

It'd be sort of silly to add a character from a franchise that is tied to console exclusivity let alone add them BEFORE said dual sword user has been confirmed yet.
