Blazblue Cross Tag Battle.

My god. I loved BB's Gag endings. Might get just for gag endings. Specially with how good the BB's VA's read the lines. It always was SO GOOD to hear.

Vatista sounds a lot like our own Christine Marie Cabanos, maybe slightly too excited for how Vatista should sound. Orie's apparently voiced by Erica Mendez, RIP Kira's dream of voicing a playable character in a fighting game (until SG2).

Blake seems to be continuing Weiss' tradition of being notably mis-characterized in BBTAG.

Do I sense the return of the Spectacles of Eros? :3
GOD.

PLEASE.

IF ONLY.

Sadly, probably not, since Yu has built in Spectacles.

omg Carmine!

How are Blake and Weiss being mischaracterized, I'm curious.

Uhh... let's see...

Weiss in BBTAG is shaping up to be "the calm one." Weiss is not the calm one. While she's been getting less rude between the show's evolution and her own character progression, she still doesn't bother with pleasantries around people her age, or really anyone who's not an authority. In RWBY, her professed goal is to make her family well-regarded again, but she usually only brings up the name to make things happen (money solves problems) and doesn't like to talk about it. BBTAG is basically building her up as a more "experienced" lancer to Ruby, but Yang is the more experienced one who has the team's backs. Weiss also doesn't have a sense of humor

Also her rapier is like a swiss-army knife of elemental attacks, she doesn't really favor ice and the "snow" theme is just the glyphs with snowflake patterns.

Blake has a lot of "let's just get this over with" in her dialogue between her initial reveal and her Gordeau intro. Blake is, well, quieter for one thing. Reserved. Episode 7 or 8 when she gets paired up with Yang, and the Episode 8 fight, is a great example of how she'd probably act in situations like these. Her reveal trailer had dialogue of "we carry heavier burdens than you" but there's no way Blake would push down other people's problems and talk about herself like that. If there's anything lone-wolfy about her, it's that she doesn't want to burden her teammates.

Carmine sounds like a combination of Jab from Street Sharks and Yamcha.

Woof... People are getting copies of BBTAG early annnnnnnd are recording footage of its story mode on YouTube. Try to avoid them if you can, people.

So, I've got the Switch version preordered and will probably be playing Makoto/Weiss until Izayoi drops.

I debated a bit whether I'd want the PS4 version or not but I had more friends on the Switch verison.

I'm kind of torn on which to get. Might get both eventually but what do I get first ahhhh

Have the PS4 version preordered for the Prime savings, will probably get the DLC 'cuz it'll be cheap.

Same. I'm gonna get some DLC packs for characters I really wanna play (Jubei, Naoto, Carmine, Yuzu) but not all of em.

Since people have said that you gain more meter in combos where you use the active switch (comboing -> assist -> mid-assist switch) I opened up the beta again and tested a little theory I had with Hyde assist. If you land the Dark Lotus assist and switch Hyde in, it's a free juggle for him to combo off of. It's not totally independent of teammates; I was trying it with Narukami and only like his 4AA would allow the Dark Lotus to actually connect since it's kinda short (I tried using Yu's slide tatsu, it knocked them too far back), so Hyde will need some team synergy to pull that off.

And I so want to see people using Waldstein assists to fuck shit up. People are still drooling over Grim Reaper assist but Wald seems like the true Big Band of the game.

I kinda got it preordered for Switch, PS4 (both regular and limited edition, if only because they opened the preoders for the limited edition after I got the regular payed off half way) and got the deluxe edition on Steam today.

It's a Ulysses on Steam. ($50)

Well then they can eat a d*ck.

40$ was the highest I was willing to go for base game, and even that was a stretch.

People who already played the game, how good is it?
I saw CB tournament and it was kinda random. Unist players played good on lienne, BB players played good on Jin. It felt, like they dont what to do. Both sitting in block with full assist, full meter...
How is a netplay?

It's fun. I got to play around 50ish online matches and the game is neat. The button layout is WONKY as fuck and takes time getting used to. And to be honest, a lot of the cast feels neutered compared to their home game versions, so they can properly fit the mechanics and button layout. I've never played UNIEL before, but apparently Hyde is missing a lot of stuff he should have.

The online actually felt really good, easily the best I've played for an Arc game. Weird thing is, the intros and such will appear to be HORRIBLY laggy, like the game is gearing you up for the worst online match of your life, but once it gets to the CAN'T ESCAPE FROM CROSSING FATE, it all clears up like the game was bamboozling you. It's weird.

That seems to be an ARC thing. I've seen it in every BB and GG Xrd Rev2 I've played online. I usually let the stage intro play a bit till the choppy goes away then it's smooth.

It's something about the game testing the connection between players to decide the best delay which results in said choppy starts.

Important thing to note here, if the intros are lagging, do not skip them. Wait for it to stabilize.

Y'know, it occurs to me that the little QTE minigame on Crash Assault is just ArcSys exposing what's wrong with their netcode. You can't do that shit consistently online since the timing actually varies.

I didn't even know you could do that, that's what I get for not doing the first half of tutorial.

The only characters not in the base 20 that I'm really interested in trying are Team RWBY and Orie. Aegis and Vatista are a little on the backburner. Though I'm interested in all of the leaked Persona characters, but I've got plenty of time to decide to spend the $20 on the rest of the DLC packs, or even wait for a discount.

Okay, so nothing against Blake's voice actor, more on the director than anything, but man... we gotta set her to Japanese or this ain't gonna work. WOW

I got Platinum, Nu-13, Waldstein, and I'm looking forward to trying Ruby. Orie and Gordeau I might add too. Persona 4 Arena's not on Steam, so no one in that group interests me.

ArcSys has finally implemented the "counterattack action" option for Training Dummies, which is reversal action but they already have something called "Reversal Action." It's not as comprehensive as UNIST's, and according to Mike it should just be easier to implement Playback as Reversal.

I think ArcSys is taking the scenic route on their journey to modern features.

When does that journey reach GGPO?

For whatever reason the Switch version doesn't show any connection indicators, so to make things worse it's a total crapshoot what kind of ping I'll get.

Delay netcode is not great on any platform. Unless you like the 5C QTE minigame being inconsistent from match to match.

Uncle Daisuke insists we don't need to turn left for GGPO.

So, I realized most of the color 13s are references to modern Western animation stuffs. Here's what I got.

Rachel - Finn & Jake
Nu - Pharah
Platinum - Pinkie Pie?
Hyde - Steven Universe
Linne - Garnet
Waldstein - Amethyst
Gordeau - Gambit
Weiss - Snow White (from the Disney series)
Ragna - Rick Sanchez?

If anyone is willing to give me the full supposed list, let me know.

Uh... so... BBTAG did the Marvel 3 thing where attacks can hit on the same frame. DBFZ has this too. This is really weird, 'cause GG doesn't do this, and I don't think BB does either. There are other reasons it's not great, but DBFZ's heavy restrictions on the team mechanics at least prevent the more common tag-team exploits (though maybe you can get Dragon Rush/assist same-frame unblockables), while in BBTAG you get stuff like this...

ArcSys what are you doing.

Som'in that's seriously annoying me about this game is the RUN. Not only it's flat out annoying to dash too far forward, but it even keep the momentum, making you slide even if you told it to back peddle.

Speaking of , we got a season 2.

well they flat out told us it would be a platform didnt they?
