So, my wife doesn't really read SH and I doubt that even if she did she'd find this page, so I'm writing this here.

For those of you who have met my wife you know how awesome she is. She paid for us to go to EVO, she supported me when I was unemployed and her latest awesomesauce moment was buying and MODDING a Qanba Q4 for Christmas, one she adorned with anime boobies and groping that made me uncomfortable but I couldn't help but imagine how much work went into it. (She even messed up putting the buttons back together but refused to let me fix it. Instead, she asked me to draw her diagrams on how the buttons went and which color was which button and she fixed it herself.)

So I've decided to make her something awesome for our anniversary. One awesome Steam flash sale later, I now own RPG Maker VX Ace, and I'm going to make an RPG for my wife.

TO SEE HOW YOU CAN HELP, SCROLL DOWN.

The title is still not decided, but the RPG will basically mirror events that brought us together. And somehow it will save the world in some way lol

Our hero starts at his hometown, named and based on my hometown because that's the whole point of the story.

The statue of Christopher Colombus on the Mayaguez Plaza. The lady and the guy running around the plaza are just NPCs. Although it took me nearly an hour to program the lady in front of the fountain. She first says she will miss you when you're gone, but once you're gone she will welcome you back and advise you to make a wish on the fountain by dropping a coin (even going as far as giving a coin to you ONCE if you talk to her with no money). As for what the fountain does, I plan on having an enemy drop money based on how many coins you've dropped into the fountain by some formula. Probably not exactly proportional, and more like "if they've dropped less than 50, x, if more than 50 but less than 100, y, etc." No clue yet.

My house and mom in a first draft of the house. Well, they look nothing like us but hey.

The game will have five main characters. Me, my wife, my best man and two friends. Each will have five weapons, one of which will be a joke ultimate weapon; four armor pieces, one of which will be a joke ultimate armor, and three headgear pieces, same deal. The joke equipment will have not as good stats but will add amazing skills and abilities worth using, like giving the ability to cast haste on the party. However, the ultimate and joke weapons will have sidequests which I have already planned on. One will involve searching the entire world map for 10 items hidden in plain sight, one will involve fighting three powerful bosses, one will involve stealing from various enemies and giving the spoils to NPCs, and I am even including a special event in memory of my wife's dog which will give her access to her ultimate set.

I have already planned the skills, items, key items, classes, etc. BUT... I need some help.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP.

The program allows for content to be imported. And while I've purchased a few music packs for the game (they sound wonderful), I need art. And I can't do art for crap.

I need some commissions. I need PNG files preferably, of resolution close to the pictures posted here. If you want compensation, I'm willing to offer something. I'm not loaded or anything but if it's nice I will definitely be willing to pay.

I need the following:
- A redrawing of this wedding dress on a brunette with shoulder-length hair. Same skin tone. The background can be something church-like of your choosing. I would prefer it if she didn't look like a stick lol, but try to make it anime-style if possible to fit with the game graphics. She needs to be looking at the camera, and if you can draw it as if she was in the altar looking to her right where the guy would be, then awesome. Flowers in the background if any should be red roses and white/red lillies like her wedding bouquet. This is pretty much my highest priority, as it will likely be an ending scene.
- A Chicago-like background.
- A Japanese countryside background.
- Pixel art (about this big) of: a yaoi paddle, a Rock Band guitar, a yellow bear onesie, sailor moon cosplay, a paint brush, Link cosplay, Triforce, Master Sword, a black T-shirt with white text on it (does not matter if the text can't be read, but it should read "I'm a ninja" lol), a black T-shirt with a logo that could be a band logo of some sort (or something that resembles one. It's tiny so just draw a skull on it lol), the wedding dress in the first point, a fuzzy hat with ear flaps, the wedding dress hairpiece from the first point, Sailor Moon's headband, a Delphox plushie, three Manga books (or could be just one and I'll reuse it), a bottle of purple drink (maybe even something that looks like Gatorade lol) and a microphone. This should cover the items, key items, weapons and armor that I can't already find an icon for.

The reason why I ask here instead of just Googling is because 1) it's easier to ask for commissions than ask for permissions, and 2) I want to know what artists to credit and it's not always cut and dry to find that on the internet.

If you are able and willing to help on this, first of all thank you. Please reply to this thread with what you'd be willing to do so I can have an idea.

DEADLINE?

Well... I would like to have the game done by March 9, 2014, our two-year anniversary. That would be preferable, but a Q2 launch window would also be acceptable (:kappa:).

Regardless of the answer to this I won't be able to help since my art skills are unlikely to be any better than yours, but when you say 'commissions' do you mean commissions (paid for with $$$) or requests (free stuff)?

This is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen! I don't have the artistic talent to help you out, but I want to let you know that it's incredibly awesome that you're making something like this for your wife. I hope she loves it!

I'd like to help, but you didn't ask for music or voice acting.

I hope this goes off without a hitch :)

Either. I was thinking money, though.

You'd also get credit. You know, whenever I figure out how to make credits lol

I haven't used RPG Maker in a long time, but I believe that by using the code editor you can modify the buttons on the title screen and create one that leads to a credits menu. I might encourage something less technically daunting and more creative though; how about a credits room, in which each contributor receives an NPC who says a couple of lines about what they did and who they are.

Hmm... considering the credits will be very, very short since right now the only credits are me and the people behind RPG Maker and the DLC packs, I could always do that.

It's certainly simpler to do a room full of people than fill out credits... but somehow if I find code for it I feel it would be simpler to do credits.

Well if the whole wedding isn't just a cutscene, you could make all of the contributors NPCs in the church/hall/whatever that just give their name and say happy anniversary or something if you talk to them.

I'm ell and truly out of the art game, but for the pixel art you might want to get in touch with Immaevilspacewhale on here, if he/she's not too busy.

as someone who is barely scraping by doing commissions and earning from classes (dependent's military benefit), i have interest in helping you with the prioritized wedding pic.

i said "interest", because im not sure if i am able to find enough time to juggle that and all the other things i have planned on doing - and classes (i start again next week and a lot of it is media design stuff).

i'll leave this up in the air for now, since i really think what you're doing is super sweet. being a sucker for that kind of thing, if i can do ANYTHING at all to help, i'd love to.
