Hello all! I've been trying to come up with some "setups" for Val+Squ and I had a question.

Since Val can corner carry VERY well, should I do 2HP for Squigly as an assist or do center stage? I say 2HP because it will lock someone in place on their wake up so long as you are not causing the second ground bounce. (or slides from i.e. 5HKx3) 2HP from Squ also has long active frames, plus it is a low. Just wanted some input from you guys. Let's discuss! :D

I also know about the new changes as far as undizzy goes, so just keeping that in mind as well.

Yo Psyken you're playing this game again? Nice.

I don't play Val so I don't really know what her ideal assist options would be, but I would think 2HP would work better than Center Stage. Have you tried messing with Drag n Bite, though? I feel in general that's a better lockdown assist. Using 2HP assist sometimes you can get pushblocked far enough away that it whiffs, but since Drag n Bite moves forward you don't get that problem as often. The reason to use 2HP instead would be if you have some real tricky high low stuff (can't set up actual unblockables in this game but you can do stuff like jump at them and call it from the peak of your jump when they're not expecting a low).

Drag n' Bite is better for combating pushblock and controlling space in the neutral game. cr.HP is better for mixups and has better startup and a better hitbox. Both are pretty good for lockdown.

Silver Cord is also a pretty solid assist but one that leaves Squigly on screen for a very long time. Thankfully Valentine is very good at protecting her assists.

I don't play squigly but played Nuuance a bunch to know that Drag n' Bite is really good. Also allows for some fun combos.

Here's a Val + Drag n' Bite assist combo vid to demonstrate.

I want you to use center stage cuz its cool and people probably haven't figured out all the crazy ways to use it. Lockdown is nice tho.

I'll have to check it again but I think you would need to push block SQU's 2HP twice. It has good range. That video didn't really do much for me except remind me of my mistakes in my first Skullgirls tournament. :/ lol Don't use that super in the corner unless you don't want the corner.

Also, the other thing I don't like about drag n' bite, it doesn't have a low or high property to it. I get that it moves forward but with val's multihitting moves, that shouldn't be too much of any issue.

Are there other assists from SQU that would be cool? I know centerstage is definitely different and I haven't seen to much of that. Silver chord sounds great but as mentioned... she sits on the screen too long.

I sleep on silver chord hard because its not that good to me. It's soooo slow on start up and recovery so if your opponent is paying attention they will know when its coming. It can't really be used for shenanigans either because it offers very little blockstun and is just...bleh. I don't see any potential for any form of an assist. you can mash it vs awful players who IAJHP all day tho, but that is all its good for. I'd like to be proven wrong because its a cool move but its so meh from what I've seen and played against.

As I see it her options are drag n bite, sing, cr.hp as the best options. With sing needing some serious development to figure out how to use it in neutral. I can imagine it would be really good for getting hits on assists.

Overall I find 2HP to have more utility.

I tried Drag n Bite for a long while but it just gets stuffed too often. The lockdown is long but it is basiclaly a Cerecopter - lite, I kind of struggle to chose it when Cerecopter or LK Bomber would do its job better with much more utility.

2HP hits low, which is pretty huge for characters that have good IOHs (like Valentine) or spend a lot of time in the air in general. (like Valentine)

So yeah, I'd say 2HP is a pretty great assist for Valentine. It's easy to protect and has a long hitbox, you can call it in a lot of situations really.

Sing would have limited utility for Valentine, she has no trouble getting in so I wouldn't bother too much with it. You can get some tricky setups sure, but I think the 2HP setups are far less gimmicky in the long run.

Slver Chord is an option but it is HAAAARD to protect and I just feel you will get a lot more out of 2HP.

It turns out Drag n' Bite is better in my opinion. It allows me to hit high/low since the move itself doesn't do that. The main reason though... It auto corrects.. Even mid animation.

Idk if you saw this, and I'm not trying to self promote since it's an unlisted video (originally for myself), but here's something I think will help greatly. Skip ahead and you'll see the assist combos. Not that fedoras were bad, but mine do more damage (I had more time to practice), but he have me some inspiration :)
