I can record me playing video games, it's pretty sick.

This is me playing my brother @herbvijkl in a FT10 I think. I plan on recording more for this.

Things I know already I need to get better at are:

Execution- Multiple times throughout this video I had problems where run dash/stop comes out while trying to do command grabs, or I'll IAD a normal with someone, but instead I'll get either nothing, because I did inputs too fast, or some silly ground string that gets me punished because I flubbed the multi-button dash input. Some other dumb things like at one point I just didn't push HK or something and Fortune just like stopped. I feel like it's happening more lately which might be related to my stick getting old, but there's definitely still some user error there.

Bella- I know like one combo and like 50 potential resets, but I feel like my neutral game sucks and my defensive game sucks with her. Especially defensive. If my opponent gets going, Bella is stuck in Cornerland until death. Possibly related to figuring out better times to alpha counter? Or letting horns rock? Also how do I reflect against Fukua, everything is so weird ;_; And LnL 360 sucks, I should stop trying it.

Fortune- Using head off Fortune. I'm just more accustomed to head on, but I tried using head off even though I don't know what I'm doing. It just feeeeels better against Parasoul, ya know? I keep dropping j.mk to axe kick too, the timing is weird sometimes. Also the fast fall thing I can do with head on Fortune doesn't seem to work the same with head off, so I'm gonna have to figure that out. Also, fiber upper loses invincibility, so I gotta stop doing that head off as a reversal. Though, I'm not sure it's that great of a reversal head on either. Though I think I did s.hk to launch head and followed it up with a h.fiber upper and damn, that approach is sick, gotta figure out how to use that more.

General- I feel like I could grab or air grab more. What was not recorded was a huge set with some guy (@snuggle something? Is that a person?) like 50 games I swear, against combinations of Peacock, Parasoul and Bella and lost just about all of them. Anyways I noticed he was able to read my jumps and just throw me before I could react a lot. He was also calling assists a lot smarter than I was, and so was my brother, I feel. Other things not recorded are the Peacock matchup. In general, with any character. I feel like Filia is the best bet, but It's mostly just randomly mixing up whether I jump in or dash in and try to not get hit. But that's against shitty Peacocks, at Evo @Skarmand #rektd me super hard, I had no idea how to move, much less block. Too bad, cuz he's the best Peacock I've played and it wasn't recorded I don't think. I got road-roller'd too, it was tight. Also assists. I have two variations one with h.updo and one with c.mk, both with h.LnL. c.mk seems fun for resets, I can fake resets and tag em with c.mk when they block wrong, but otherwise seems kind of useless. I use updo mostly since Fortune seems to have a hard time against air stuff. And LnL is kind of just for pressure and punishing other assists. Also to eat projectiles, it does that pretty well, but I'm not sure I'm using the best stuff for Fortune. It feels fine, but not like, amazing.

I really want to get better, but have a hard time dissecting footage to see what I should be doing, so feedback would be appreciated. plz. I won't whine.
Also, herb can't record so you can give him feedback as well, I give him permission to post shit here.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I WANT TO PLAY PEOPLE! IF you're west coast or on Google Fiber™ or something (I don't have the best ping) you should totally add me, I have like, 2 people on my friends list that play regularly and one is in Japan. I know I gotta play good people to git gud.

Done, will play later.

So I just played against everyone's favorite Korean ( @GFarmer ) randomly in a lobby for 10 games. Unfortunately, I wasn't expecting it, so it wasn't recorded. Also, his connection was pretty good for being across the Pacific.

Things I noticed while I was playing:
Fortune head off seems way better against Big Band. I kiiiiiiiinda knew what I was supposed to do against him, theoretically just wait for him to do something dumb and punish, but it never happened. It seemed he was always able to get above me before I could move, forcing me to get hit or block and fall back down. And speaking of falling back down, that Squigly low assist with the fire, god damn. I kept getting hit with that. Every time he'd catch me falling it'd be cymbal plus that assist, but sometimes the assist would hit first, sometimes second, sometimes he'd do the clarinet thing and cross me up, it was awful. I'm not sure of the startup for that assist, but maybe I can just poke at it and stay safe from cymbal? A few times I was able to counter call with something but then they usually got tagged by Big Band right after. In general, Big Band can give me problems outside of this instance, but it's usually me not being patient enough I think.

Other stuff:
Using headless Fortune seems to be going better, I'm starting to see why it's alright.
Also grabs are pretty cool for mixups, been trying to get them used more by everyone that's not Bella.
I still don't know what to do with Bella in neutral, but I stopped doing LnL 360. yay?
Calling assist to punish heavy offense; it works quite a bit, but right after, since I was blocking, I want to go dash up after the opponent but get a pushblock instead. Then they get hit by updo and then go flying away from me, like, what's the point? Gotta not be too fast (though going fast is my calling, I'm sure of it).

SG online is wonky today or something, it seems like maybe 5 people are online at any given time.

And Skarmand, man, I'm never available when you are online, I'm sorry. I'll try hitting you up this weekend when I don't have to work, I really want that practice.

Hey, if you don't mind absurd ping I can practice with you.
I play Bigband-Peacock with the skill of a baby mashing it's face against the buttons.
I have both steam and PS3 versions.

You can play me if you you want to fight a litiral training dummy.

I'am worse then the story mode AI.

Lots of issues with my ps3 and with fraps and stuff. I haven't been recording nearly as much as I would like to.
BUT
I got some. Unfortunately, running SG and fraps is juuuuuuuuust a bit too much for my computer and sometimes the game slows and inputs get dropped, it happens quite a few times in all of these sets.
I did some stuff in a lobby, got 3 FT10s with my brother and 2 other people that joined. I'll be uploading them all, but for now, here's one:

Grunt vs @clawmaster (I think that's you).
Most notable changes, I'm playing Fortune/Bella without Filia. I like Filia a lot, but I'm just trying to get used to playing without Updo, I think it was kind of a crutch and I had some terrible assist habits with it (I still do ;_;). Also, I'm using Cerecopter. After some messing around I found that I really like Cerecopter for when I was a duo. Not sure why, it just seems to work better with mixups and pressure than Lock 'n Load. I thought it was gonna give me problems punishing assists, but it's not terrible. It's kinda terrible against peacock though, but whatever.
I also changed the music in the game. I figured out how to skullmod and then proceeded to make a bunch of intro/loops out of MvC2 music. It's sick. I think. MvC2 gets me all hot and bothered.
Anyways,

Fortune:
Dropped inputs, I'm blaming fraps. Axe kicks liked to not come out mostly, sometimes I'd cr.hk instead of Fiber too. Against Squigly, mk Fiber mp mk seems to drop sometimes, probably a combination of height/hurtbox/corner-ness. At some point I realize it and do mp hp into super, but then I lost my otg extension and wasted another bar on the DHC. Figuring out how to do more than that on Squigly seems like it would be beneficial. In the corner otg cr.lk mk hk(2 hits) Fiber seems to cross under Squigly, putting me in the corner. I think I can just do hp instead of hk, but I'm not sure, I didn't actually not do it. I kept forgetting it didn't work.

I still don't know what to do against Big Band. I always feel like I need to approach, but it keeps getting me killed. I at least figured out how useful Fortune's slide is against him, tripping him out of armor is pretty satisfying and sets up for otg or decent oki. Or it sets up a face-full of reversal super. Gotta remember to bait those. I think one thing I might try is when I'm jumping around someone in the corner, just don't airdash, like I don't need to cover that much ground, and usually Cerebella's got em locked down. This could make it easier to block against reversals and supers and what-not.

Headless is still kinda weird. I hardly went headless at all this set, but I noticed there were a few times where the head was just chillin. I totally could've hit the hp button and I didn't. I guess I have to recognize when I can headbutt people. But, then again, it seems to almost always be somewhere I don't want it or in cooldown. I'm starting to feel like Fortune's puppet mechanic is kinda boring. She's not very puppetty for reals.

Bella:
Also dropped inputs ;_; Lots of run stops and random moves instead of grabs. Lots of random supers too, but that's probably just me being bad.
I feel like my neutral has improved, I kinda figured out what the fuck to do. Bella is super fun to play. I gotta figure out a better Big Band combo though, sometimes the otg cr.lk to cr.mk would just whiff, but sometimes it didn't? So I don't know. I also gotta figure out how to convert off Fiber assist, I kept landing it and then nothing. Also, this j.lp x whatever j.hp restand, holy fuck why is it so hard? I see everyone do it, but my god, I cannot do it to save my life.

I keep trying to swat people out of their when it keeps failing. Sometimes, against IAD people especially, and well spaced j.mp seems to be pretty good, but j.hk against people with better jumps and aerials probably isn't smart. Maybe use AA grab more? Also gotta figure out conversion off air throw. I think I got something pretty cool in this set with like a j.lp lp mp hk Cerecopter, but the otg fails way more often than it connects. Probably a timing and/or height thing. Will have to test that. Run dash and run stop still feel kinda weird, I use them for resets, and the hit of armor seems good for that Big Band move that hits everywhere on the floor (I'm so good at names), but most of the rest of the time I'm trying to use it to approach and just sort of randomly pick whether I stop, Kancho or ram horns. It feels so basic and terrible, I don't know what to do with it.

Oh yeah, and ggs, Clawmaster.

I'll try and upload more later.
But damn, the fraps thing is kinda annoying. Mike plz hurry with replays, you're my only hope.

For BB, you can do that combo with bella :
C.hp
J.mp j.hk (restand, easy because BB is so heavy)
Land j.lk j.mp j.hk
Land j.lp j.mp j.hk
S.hk copter dynamo
Otg c.lk c.mp s.hk copter dynamo

If you're to far away from the corner to combo after dynamo, instead of s.hk copter, do :
S.hp pummel horse
C.mp s.hk copter dynamo

Easy combos that do plenty of damage.

Headless fortune sucks

Grunt vs herbvijkl numero dos

Most of the stuff I notice is the same from the last one. Especially the missed inputs. Especially game 8 I got stuck in the corner and instead of doing any grabs or anything I got a bunch of runstops.
Also Fortune kept dropping combos/pressure after hk. It was dumb.

I notice that against Filia I keep getting mixed up, it's damn impossible to be able to guess against that so often. And then trying to resent her is hard cuz her reversal options are pretty good. This is probably a good time to practice the whole "drop combos and block" thing. Also I kept trying to PBGC cat heads, but it wasn't working. either the timing was wrong, or Double wasn't even close. Gotta figure that out.

Oh wait fuck I said I was gonna upload stuff.

Oh well, I did a FT15 with this guy named Me, pretty damn good Painwheel. Didn't record it because I'm dumb.

Learned how to get baited by charged normals and how to get hit trying to air grab.
But more importantly, I learned exactly what the properties of her armor and Hatred Install do. I have probably played less PW than anyone else, so I had no idea. After getting hit a lot I figured I'd try to grab him out of armor which had a higher success rate than backdashing into a HP, but I was still getting hit a lot, probably because it was so obvious I wanted to grab him. Apparently there's not thaaaaaat much armor in the air, so maybe try to mix up approaches with grabs or multi hitting aerials. Which basically means Fortune is dead meat. Which is kinda how it played out. Bella and Filia did way more work with the Excellabella and standard Filia shit.
In the future I'll probably slap Updo back on Filia, against Painwheel especially. I was running French Twist for fun low assist mixups with Fortune, but that shit does not work against flying girls. Also gotta learn to spot the charge normal fake block strings and try to grab them. Playing Bella you think it'd be easy, but only if you expect it, I guess.

WOW Painwheel is really annoying for Fortune. I have no idea what to do against her. I feel like Bella is the best possible match up on my team against Painwheel, but even then getting her out of the air is hard. Anyone have any advice on this? I feel like a few of the people I normally play against have all started using her and it kind of sucks.

In other news, my PS3 works again! so @Clawsome Bombs, I can finally play you hopefully maybe someday.
Also, I keep having fraps issues, I keep trying to record my sets with Skarmand for this thread, but it keeps not working. I decided to try streaming to keep my matches recorded and the internet spike I take during online play isn't nearly as punishing as Fraps slowing down my computer and dropping inputs. The only problem now is...uh, hitbox having a shit video editor. Like, does it even work? It doesn't seem to do anything, but saving it without editing works, so whatever. I'll probably do it again next time I play.

Also watched some videos and stole some tech, gonna try it tomorrow.

Cool stuff
I'll be on this weekend so I'll be waiting for ya bud
Oh and PW makes me dizzy too
Like with any one when playing Fortune get the height advantage and assail her with j.lk and El Gato L to ground her
Of course she can armor through everything you do in the air if she's paying attention so don't get to predictable about trying to hit her
Bottom line stay from under her; the highest lady wins about 92% of the time and once she lands a hit well get ready to block (and push block) accordingly
Also air throw if she's sleeping on you

So Streaming on hitbox just to record stuff seems alright. Here's some quick-matches I did against a bunch of people, but mostly this Sunset Girl person. (ggs, accept my friend request plz ;_;)
He/she showed up a lot so I tried to get the parts with their matches, but I'm sure there's a bunch of other people I play in between. There's also menu downtime and whatnot, so sorry about that. Also hitbox video editor is trash so I'm sure nothing I wanted to do worked.

http://www.hitbox.tv/video/247806
I don't think it embeds, but I'll be safe.

So, Peacock destroys me, I already knew that. Getting around the projectiles seems easiest with Filia, but Fortune can kinda do it too.
Shout-outs to reflecting Argus and still getting hit. Shout-outs to also removing my head when you don't mean to.
I have to remember that once Bella is in, Updo is assist one now. Bella has a harder time converting off H Fiber and I keep using it, only to have them reset in the air.
That, or learn how to use the air recovery for resets. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Idk, this is mostly just for testing hitbox recording while playing at it seemed to work well.

EDIT: In this recording it goes black at around 35 minutes in. There's more after 2 minutes or so, but that's the end of the matches with Sunset Girl.

Played a FT10 with @Dreamepitaph (I think? This is THE Twerk team, yes?) Got stomped even through bad connection.
BUT
I got a lot of good advice for both him and @Fedora_Ninja on my Fortune and Bella team.
Next things to practice are calling assist more betterer. I throw it out Cerecopter a lot in neutral situations where it gains nothing and has a good chance at being counter called.
And also I need to improve Neutral with Bella. I guess I'm doing some point Bella sometime as well. Any tips on this would be appreciated.

Though the matches were pretty laggy I'm gonna highlight them, once they're up I'll edit this post.

http://www.hitbox.tv/video/258950 FT10, it starts after a few seconds, it left in the end of another match.

Yes that would be me as the twerk team. the best advice i can provide as bella is j hp and and j hk and j mp are good but don't over hype the moves. her best stuff is staying on the ground.

I still can't handle recording and playing, and replays are always finicky for me so that's why this has been barren.
I'm also trying to learn Peacock because I got really bored of playing Fortune. It's cool though cuz Peacock is way cooler.
It also sucks though, because my shitty neutral is exemplified by not being able to keep anyone out of Peacock's face and not being able to convert projectile hits to damage very easily.
Also without Fortune, I can't deal with pressure at all, so my mindset is to try and just keep them out forever, but it doesn't work.
Here's a video!
Help pls

How exactly do you keep people out with peacock? I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to be able to throw projectiles to stop people from moving forward. I know part of it is moving around yourself cuz they will eventually get there, but it seems like even when I get fullscreen it's 2 jumps and they're in. I figured part of this is maybe just not throwing stuff? I tried just like charging an item and waiting which worked alright, but assists hit me a lot and it's still hard for peacock to to deal with people jumping above and in front of her. especially if they're too close from item drop range. Then I just sort of lose it because peacock is kinda fucked. It's all about blocking after that which I just can't do long enough to save peacock for any meaningful length of time.
Like, I guess I'd like for anyone on the offense to have to respect what I'm doing, but clearly no one has to. I guess maybe being able to capitalize on what to do when someone blocks something? or gets hit by a stray projectile maybe? I think one game I manage a medium item drop into a H bang into argus, but I have no idea how I'd go about setting that kind of thing up. Something like, if they block, they have to block a bunch of stuff, if they git hit they eat a combo? Cuz how it is now it's like If they block it, w/e they take chip and then keep going and if they get hit, they take the hit and keep going and nothing leads to anything. It makes things worse with assists cuz then they block one thing, call an assist and then I'm fucked.

How exactly do you keep people out with peacock?
Watch some Swiftfox-Dash videos. The idea is to put projectiles in the places they are likely to be going first, rather than where they are. Start with s.HP and as soon as she shoots cancel into either kart+plane or item drop, then when you recover do the other one.

Sorry to say but to play Peacock you sort of need to be able to block. Eventually they're gonna get in and you need to be able to get them back out. With the assist you have you have a really strong option in this situation that you don't seem to use much, which is call LnL then H Teleport. As long as you input the teleport after Bella's feet hit the floor, you're still allowed to teleport behind them, and LnL is slow enough that the assist will actually cross up. Give it a shot after a successful pushblock.

You can set up frame traps with H Bang. Time it so that just as they exit blockstun from some other projectile, the H Bang shots will make contact; if it's tight enough they can't jump out. Off H Bang you can hit confirm into Lenny then link an Argus for a full combo after the bomb explosion. If you can get people to respect this option, they'll hesitate after blocking projectiles, which gives you the freedom to put more junk on the screen.

After all this time I finally came back to read your comment again. I just now realize you said H Bang and not the HP projectile like I thought. For some reason.

Anyways, I've been playing a lot and feel like my zoning has improved and just using the tools to try and keep them away.
But it still happens sometimes, and like you, peanuts, have said before, if you fail to keep them away you deserve to lose. Which is what happens a lot, right here.

A few of them desynch though, sorry.

Things I'm trying to look for are all the parts where I lost all my ground and they got in vs Peacock, and what coulda been done different.
Things I see:
- Calling all my items at a range where it only takes one correct jump to get in. This happens a lot and I end up eating Hairball or whatever. Try and sparingly use whatever item is needed in that situation and use movement to gain more space.
- Calling Bella at times where she does nothing. Some times a JHK back airdash us accompanied by calling Bella, but sometimes I get chased down, and whether or not their chase is successful, Bella rarely is. They just go right over her. I guess this is sort of tied to not throwing all my stuff at once.
- Fuckin' BFF. It's gotten better, I've noticed lately the slide > BFF thing, and tried to keep Fukua away on the ground, but sometimes it catches me, mostly when I'm trying to do a JHK back airdash thing. I feel like this is a place where H Bang comes in handy, stopping the forward movement into BFF (But now I think I'll try the Lenny thing since I finally put the 2 together), but also has to do with trying to do too much at once and getting punished for it.
- Jumping forward. Sometimes I do it to myself because I'm a dumb. Part of me thinks preemptive JLP/MP/HP/airthrow will snag people jumping in , but most of the time it doesn't work.

Other things:
- Stop doing the stupid Lenny combo. I stopped already, but my replacement combo is super tough to do. I drop it a lot in this video, but it's getting better.
- 2LK > 2MP > 2HP > Run stop on block? plz.
- Holding down LP+LK a bit when attempting command throws seems to alleviate accidental Run stops. Do that.
- Stop the scramble jumps. I'm not really sure how to handle the stupid thing where like, 2 people are in a stare-down, and one guy jumps and then the other guy jumps too and you keep like, jumping over each other? I always get flustered and it never ends up good for me. Maybe try throwing? My throw game sucks.
- Dealing with other zoning. I suck at the mirror, and I have a hard time against Fukua TK fireballs. Item drop seems like the easiest way to deal with it, but it's usually a 1 for 1 trade. Might try more teleport stuff to get around it. IT might also help get around BFF attempts, but if it fails, I'm like right there to get killed and there goes all my space. I guess that's what Bella is for.
- Uuuuuuuuh there was something else, I forgot. W/e.

UUUUUUUUGH I just played ft10 with @@ohitsjmz except only after the fact did I realize I was on retail and not beta, so no recordings. Whoops.

I was having the toughest time with Eliza, which I figured would be a hard matchup. I was used to dealing with the boat, but there's things that are SO MUCH WORSE. A lot of the games ended up with Eliza inching her way forward and me dying in the corner to basically just her. Sometimes the pressure was aided by Pillar assist, just to fill the small gaps made by pushblocking. The most useful defense was PBGC into whatever, but a lot of the time it wasn't enough, or like...uh the opportunity was rarely there? Like it was just enough so like any opportunity I could see to PBGC looked super risky if I wanted to try super or something. Because of this I was messing around with PBGC jumps and other empty stuff just to get out. It worked a few times against Parasoul and PW, but Eliza more often than not caught me jumping with her air normals.

I really really wish that was beta, cuz there were a few games where I was able to shut Eliza down right off the bat, and then the game was basically mine after that. I just have no idea what I did. My basic strategy is to throw items until they move like halfway to me? then I try to keep M item held and either throw a ground > air bomb then drop it and try to create more space, or jump up and meet them in the air when they try to move forward. When successful, the air to air thing means they get hit with the item and I get more space than if they just block stuff, and worked pretty well against PW, but only about half the time against Parasoul and Eliza. Against Them, it was usually I jumped to meet them too late and got hit first. Against Parasoul, it's whatever, keeping her fullscreen seems a lot easier, and then I'm looking out for Sniper/Bike/whatever. But Eliza, with that air to air stuff and that pressure in the corner, I get scared trying to jump at her, which makes keeping her away a lot harder.

A few things I've been working on:
That Peacock combo with the HK > item drop, I got it pretty much down against every character, except Peacock. The mirror is the hardest match I still have, so it doesn't come up a lot. But for every other character, yay!
PBGC > Bella assist > Teleport to escape the corner. I still cannot figure this out. More often than not this gets me hit. I guess I gotta do it when there's some reeeeeeeeeeeeeal room, but with the kind of pressure I described above, I find it very difficult to pull this off.
Some Bella stuff. I felt like it was getting very stale with 2mk runstop guessing games, so I learned some other stuff. I have a hard time approaching Parasoul with Bella. Run through tears works sometimes. Gotta figure something else out.
HP Bang. I 've been working on just pure keep away, so my capitalization on stray item hits or frame trapping blocks isn't up to par yet, but this is next on my list. The 236HP HP HP Lenny Argus is pretty easy to do, just not implement.

I was watching Combo Breaker and I saw TJ doing HP after push block and calling Bella. I'm assuming it's a timing thing? I thought it was and tried it out and it works pretty well, so yeah there's that now, whoo.
Got some other set from yesterday uploading.

1. Wait for better times to jump away. I keep getting hit out of the air
2. Stop fudging inputs and stop waiting to see what's gonna happen before throwing stuff. I keep seeing a lot of time where Peacock is just sort of chilling and then starts to throw items when it's too late. I also do Pie and Charlie Brown a lot. Whoops.
3. I keep getting hit by the same mixups over and over, and have a hard time reacting to throws. I don't know how normal that is but I'd like to fix both.
4. PBGC Dynamo and/or "here comes the mixup" Dynamo both got punished a fair deal. Part of me wants to say "stop pushing buttons" But then sometimes I get mixed up or give them free pressure cuz I just don't do anything. So I guess, Press buttons at the right time? BUT WHEN?! Games are hard.
