An open letter to Tournament Organizers

After recent events concerning the organization of several tournaments and our successful efforts to improve turnout at specific events, the Skullgirls community would like to communicate the following to those considering adding Skullgirls to a future tournament lineup:

This is an open letter to Tournament Organizers.

The Skullgirls community is very much alive and well with a number of players willing to travel to events and support our scene. The strongest example of this is Combo Breaker, which the community as a whole has decided to support for giving us a chance to feel respected while playing the game we love.

However, our players are spread thin and don't have the ability make every Major on the calendar as big as Combo Breaker. After inconsistent levels of support from some events in addition to unrealistic expectations of the community, we have decided to plan out which events we want to focus attendance on ahead of time.

We do not mean to dismiss any event or the people behind them. This is not because we are unwilling to accept opportunities to shine by Tournament Organizers, but as we currently are we simply cannot make every event a big one. Instead, we have chosen to focus on events in a way that allows us to have the most fun with each other and with our game, while also allowing more of our community members to make it out and show people to see why our game is great.

At present, the events on our Skullgirls Tour are as follows:

January: Frosty Faustings

April: NWM
May: Combo Breaker

July:
August:
September: CEOtaku
October:
November: GUTS4
December:

Please take this list into consideration when attempting to add Skullgirls to your tournament, especially as a Main Game. If your event is too close to one of these events (especially Combo Breaker) there may not be a strong showing from our entire community, so we ask that you adjust your expectations accordingly.

This list is not set in stone, however. We are always enthused by TOs who are willing to interact with us, so if you have a showing you want to make big for Skullgirls—regardless of where it falls on the calendar—please reach out to us and let us know what you want. Skullgirls has a very receptive community and we are always listening and watching for events that are willing to host us. We are limited by resources and players, but local players will do their best to make it to your events, and as a community we will continue to shift towards the events that treat our players well.
