NORCAL REGIONALS THREAD 2.3

--------------------------
TOURNAMENT INFO:
--------------------------
-Best of 3 until Winners, Losers, and Grand Finals. Then it's Bo5.
-Straight Double Elimination bracket.(separated into pools if there are more entrants)
-CURRENTLY PLANNED TO PLAY ON PS3(Subject to change, but probably not)
-All characters and stages allowed

-If you are unavailable when your match is called, your match will be skipped to another match. When we re-call it later, you will be DQ'd if you dont show up within 5 minutes of the last call.
There are a couple of exceptions i will make to this, if you specifically tell a TO that you're going to do X and will be back at Y time, we can write it down and make a note. The biggest thing with this is that we need to know where you are if you're on deck for a tournament game. If you're entered in another event at the same time, it's no worries, just let me know ahead of time so we can keep tabs on you.

---------------
SCHEDULE:
---------------
FRIDAY
Casuals the whole time. We'll be there around 10-11.
2pm 3v3 Team Tourney. Free Entry. May do a prize/giveaway to winning team.

SATURDAY
9AM-11AM Casuals
11AM Bracket/Pools Start
Top 8 stream in the evening if we are eligible for it.

SUNDAY
Casuals available until the evening(apparently)

-------------------------
OTHER USEFUL INFO
-------------------------
-If you have a ps3 + monitor setup you can bring, please do so! The more setups, the better.
-If an emergency came up with your housing situation, shoot me a PM. I can probably help you out.
-If you're running back and forth between games, it would seriously help for you to have my phone number. Try and get that from me at some point.
-Don't be afraid to be loud. Get as hyped as possible.

I'm just wondering to all the guys that go to these tournies that are out of state... How do you afford this? I make pretty good money and i certainly cant afford to be going to and from tourny to tourny.

Are you guys driving or flying? Carpooling?

Either way, good stuff being able to travel so much and play interstate skullgirls. It really hypes me to see people so dedicated.

Two hours away... here's hoping my parents will make the drive.

Aw yeah. I love Skullgirls getting all this out of town love. Even for us NorCal guys this is a long trip to get there. I'll do whatever I can to help and I'll sign up as soon as I can.

Beamsprouts has skipped some.

6 hour drive is too far for me, won't be filling the pot for this one.

I've driven 10 hours for tournaments where they only streamed top 4 of Skullgirls, step your shit up

Well I would but I don't have monies and going relies on the mercy of elders.
I could probably afford to drive there but I'd have to leave the same day (because HAHAHA I can't afford a place to stay and doubt my parents would allow it.) which means I'd drive home really sleepy which could cause a possible accident and then Stuff possibly dies. I got lucky with SCR it was only 1 hour away and I didn't have to stay for all 3 days.

/excuse

Plan: Get Stuff to come out here. Then tell his parents that we kidnapped him and the ransom money is the money for him to enter and get back home.

So Stuff is in the same situation as me... bummer. :C

Does anyone who plans on going have an avermedia lvl?

If I can find a place to stay and the monies needed for it, I'm definitely down to go.

(Maybe someone can let me bum at their house/apartment or something?)

I want to go to this. Just got a new job so I'll hopefully have some cash soon. Is anyone local I can crash with for the tourney/are there any room pools goin on? I haven't been to a major in about 3 or 4 years, so I really don't want to miss the opportunity to go to a major that's in the same state.

Please, I am a man of refined tastes. I only like the most thought-provoking and insightful posts.

Wow McPeanuts making another trip to the west coast, while Keninblack and Dekillsage trying to come over here? West coast confirmed better tournaments??

On another note I'm 95% sure that I'll be there.

@Dolfinh or anyone who knows: any idea what days this will be? I see in the first post it says "The space is available for use all of Friday and Saturday and part of Sunday" but that's kind of... a broad range? Ideally I would like to know what day(s) the Skullgirls tournament will be so I can plan my flight and room around it.

I was also gonna ask what the best way to get to the venue would be from out of town, but I think I have that covered. It seems like it's only a 10 minute drive from the Sacramento airport to the hotel.

The day we run the main event is completely up to us. We could do it friday or saturday.

Would people rather play casuals on friday and do the tourney saturday, or vice versa? I just assumed we would run it a la SCR and do it the first day we had the space available, but if running it saturday would be more comfortable for everyone so they have a day to settle in and play some casuals or whatnot, we can do that as well.

I guess i'll take feedback on that and make a decision based on that.

If something goes wrong for you (or anyone else) we could probably give rides if necessary.

This is a tough one since the main day I would be coming to play is Saturday. Now this is my opinion, but I think it would be good to hold the tournament on Friday and then have Saturday to do casuals.

On the flip side your tournament may have higher attendance if it's on a Saturday. Hmmm...but I still think tourney Friday, casuals Saturday would be better.

Just another factor about the status of NCR is we aren't entirely sure how Badge Pickup is going to work. If they pull an Alex Valle (hopefully they won't) and end up making badge pickup a day early, then we should take that into consideration. Unfortunately John Choi hasn't said anything about badge pickup.

Another thing to consider is IF we end up being big enough to get our top 8 streamed (which honestly I think we probably will be) then I think it would be a bit more difficult to get stream time on saturday/sunday.

If you end up needing help I can give you a ride. I'm going to be driving myself, Dolfinh, and I believe Jayford to the venue each day and it really wouldn't be problem to pick you up, Honda Odysseys have like a million seats.

As for Fri/Sat stuff, I think tournament matches are a better icebreaker than casuals.
