Ask Ravidrath...!

It's been stated several times on Salty Cupcakes that she has the most too.
I usually just catch the summaries here on the board. I was not aware of that being mentioned. Mea Culpa. (.__.)

What's his twitter again?
I assume it's https://twitter.com/Ravidrath

It doesn't seem all that active. Maybe asking on NeoGAF could be more helpful? Not really sure...

Shit, I don't have a neogaf account. Can someone be our savior and just give us all the Eliza art?

It hasn't been posted yet, calm down be patient and certainly some art will show itself eventually.

Re-asking, with hopes that it can be a thing

Is there any chance of selling the digital art compendium? if yes, when/how much?

So Autumn actually gave you money for something. Does that mean everything is ready for you to start working with them again when you are done with the IGG DLC or even sooner?

Sorry I don't get to look at this forum or this thread that often - I'll try to make it part of my rotation after this store relisting nonsense is over.

We'll release more Eliza concepts and things once Big Band is out. Right now we're just trying to keep the attention focused on him.

It's something we're probably going to do into after the game is back for sale.

One thing we're trying to figure out, though... how much to charge? Like, what is it worth to people, and how do we make sure that doesn't make people that contributed to the IGG feel like they got ripped off?

I think based on the tiers in the IGG campaign, around $20 is fair? Maybe $25 with the digital OST?

They're not in a position to fund new content at the moment, if that's what you're asking.

What I'm mostly worried about is wether you already have a stable future ensured after you are done with DLCs.

Wasn't going to bring it up but since it was mentioned in the recent IGG update, when should we be expecting lobbies on consoles? I'm aware there is a PC exclusivity time period but I'm not really sure when it ends and what that means for consoles if it happens to end up between the release of DLC characters

IIRC, PC exclusivity period is 6 months right? By March it should be past that period.
And I would suspect the planned implementation of Big Band in march will line up with that perfectly. The re-hired Chris Glass, so I think that's gotta be the plan.

As of now, we do not. But we're working on it.

I was under the impression that the Encore update for consoles would include lobbies.

Lobbies won't be in the initial release of Encore.

Tentatively, we are targeting Art galleries for Big Band's patch, and lobbies for Eliza's. If galleries end up being problematic in any way, they'll probably be moved to Eliza's also. These are important features, but we don't want to delay content for them if we can avoid it.

It's expected to take only a few days to port the galleries to console, but more like six weeks for lobbies. That's why it's being done in this order.

We haven't had the money or time to port this stuff, mostly because it was never budgeted for - at the time we ran the campaign, the PC contract hadn't been signed and the feature set wasn't yet finalized. This is why we had to ask Autumn for some help to get this done at all.

I'd pay 50 bucks gladly, but that's me. I like the price you said, and as soon as it's listed, i'm buying it. The work is amazing and worth the coin

Would it be viable or of any help to have both the Download and Purchase options when the characters are released in PSN/X-Live?

Given the small roster and the ever existent eagerness to try new content, people will want to get characters as fresh from the oven as possible but a lot of folks (myself included) would gladly pay for them.
Kind of a dumb question and apologies if it's something that's already been considered.

So lobbies with Eliza patch. All righty. Thanks for the swift and detailed reply Ravi!

I recently got back into Skullgirls after losing the hardware functionality to play it, and was wondering if physical goodies for backers of the Indiegogo campaign had shipped yet. I contributed $56 dollars (contributor tier), but did not fill out the physical merch form until recently. If I am too late, is there some alternate way for me to get a poster?

Thanks

I don't think they have started shipping merchandise.

So howsabout them hats.

I need my pyro to have kitty ears ;-;

I hope this is the right place to ask this. (This is in regards to the PlayStation 3 version of Skullgirls: Encore).

#1: When will the EU version be released?

#2: How does the whole thing with getting Encore for free if you purchased the old vanilla Skullgirls work exactly? Do you have to have the old Skullgirls on your Hard Drive in order to receive the code to download Encore for free? The reason I ask is because I recently had to format my PS3 Hard Drive (long story) and have not re-downloaded Skullgirls since then. However, since the game is no longer available on PlayStation Network I am unable to download it again. So what will happen now? How will I get my free version of Encore?

Nobody knows when it'll show up in the EU, but for #2:
  • the original doesn't have to be on your hard drive in order to get Encore, as Sony checks your purchased game list to see if you have the original
  • When it does show up, you'll get a message from [Skullgirls] (the brackets are extremely important; a message from Skullgirls without the brackets is from a troll) with an attachment. Open the attachment to go to the store, where a code is displayed. Redeem the code to get Encore for free.

Raph - I'm not ravidrath, but I thought I'd pop in to give you the best answer we can give at the moment.

1 - We hope to announce a release date soon. I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that. I WOULD LOVE TO. But you can imagine that it's difficult as a company to announce a release date before you're absolutely 100% sure that it'll stick. This is especially true with digital releases.

One good example is the recently released Guilty Gear AC+R update. Last weekend Arc System Works announced on twitter that the wait was finally over and people would get the update "very soon". The update came out 2 days later. I guarantee you what they'd been waiting for was to pass Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA, for short)'s certification testing and for Sony to tell them the release date. And EVEN THEN, they didn't announce a specific date.

That was probably much more explanation than was necessary...

2 - We're waiting to hear from SCEE (like SCEA, but for Europe) about whether or not the voucher process will work the same as it did for US PSN, but pretty much every question you might possibly have about the vouchers should be answered on our voucher FAQ page.

Once we hear back from SCEE about how things will go down with Encore on EU PSN, we'll update that page with info that'll apply to players in that region, but any general questions you may have - like your question about whether or not the game needs to be installed on your PS3 hard drive - are answered on that page.

Pardon if this has been asked before, but would it have been easier, or at least less expensive, to just hold off releasing all the DLC characters and game changes to the full game (console version and PC version) at once in one large game patch, a la encore? I understand in a perfect world there would be no conflict regarding publishers and other outside sources which would allow for easier DLC release, but from an outside perspective it seems like the method of releasing them in one large patch would at least save money.
SG seems to have had a fair amount of strife regarding pushing game changes to the various consoles throughout it's history, I'm curious to see what L0 sees as the benefits to this method as compared to a "one large patch" method.

I beleive that was explained during the IGG campaign, the reason they said is that it would take way to long

Fair enough, I figured that was the case. Although it kind of confuses me with L0 taking that stance why they would then hold off releasing dlc chars for the pc version until they can be on consoles as well.
Personally I would prefer the one large patch approach, after having bought this game on 3 seperate consoles to play whichever version would be considered the definitive version. Honestly its not so much the dlc chars being released as the system changes being put in with them. From a competitve fighting game standpoint, it seems like having to have so many different versions and versions changing so frequently would be un-optimal.
Thanks for the response.

So, I just noticed something weird. Keep in mind that I am on PlayStation 3 and on a EU PSN account. As I stated in my first post I had to format my PS3 Hard Drive not too long ago. So this morning I was going through the download list on my PSN account in order to re-download some of the stuff I had lost due to the format. Then I notice that out of nowhere right there on my download list is Skullgirls Encore Trial and right next to it the unlock key. Now I am confused for a few reasons. First, I have not received any message at all about being able to download Skullgirls Encore. Second, I have been searching the web the entire morning and I can't find a single indication that Skullgirls Encore has been released in the EU for PS3 yet. So I'm a little scared to try and download this Skullgirls Encore that just suddenly appeared on my download list. Is it safe? Is it the real deal? Or is there something very screwy going on here? More importantly how is this already on my download list if I haven't even downloaded it yet? Is this some sort of scam I should be aware of?

The other thing that has me worried is the download shows as being just over 700MB in size. How can that be? If I remember correctly the original Skullgirls was around 1.2GB in size. So how can Encore be smaller? Something very fishy is going on here...

It's smaller because it's been compressed into a smaller hard drive space. Apparently, game compression tech has gotten a lot better in the past 2 years.

Ok, I'll give you that, but it still doesn't explain:

#1: As far as I know Encore has not been released in the EUROPEAN territories yet. So how the heck do I have access to it? (It doesn't even show up on the EU PS STORE, and yet I can download it through my download list.)
#2: I have not redeemed any voucher codes to get Encore, because I have not received any messages about it. I have not downloaded Encore in the past, and yet the game appears on my download list. (The information shows that the game was added to my download list on 13 March 2014. I wasn't even online that day because my Internet was down due to maintenance the whole day.)

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to get Skullgirls Encore. But when a game that has not officially been released in your territory yet suddenly shows up on your download list without any kind of notice it should definitely raise some red flags. At any rate I'm going to take a chance and download it and hope my PS3 doesn't explode or something. :p

(If my PSN account gets locked/banned because I unknowingly illegally downloaded something I was not supposed to I'm going to be very unhappy...)

Call me paranoid if you must, but I've seen some really strange Internet scams in my day.

Oh, wow - very interesting!

So, yeah, with SCEE the distribution will be done with "Entitlements" rather than vouchers. SCEA told us this wasn't possible, but apparently SCEE found a way to do it.

So, yes, instead of a voucher SCEE players will simply download the new game from your download list.

From the look of things, the game is already in the system and the entitlements have already been set up for most everyone. So I encourage people to check their download lists and download the game now if they can. If enough people on here verify that they have it, we'll blast it far and wide on Twitter and Facebook.

Now, note that I said "most everyone."

Because of a miscommunication about the languages needed and stores we were previous available in, players in these countries will not have their entitlements yet.

- Austria
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- Luxembourg
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Poland
- Russia
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Ukraine

We're working on resolving these now, but between these 12 countries there are only about 1700 people affected, so I hope it won't impact things too badly. If you're in one of these countries, please know that we're working as quickly as we can to get that resolved so everyone gets their updated game.

Let us know what you find!

Also, this means you will have to wait until the store update next week for Squigly and the Color DLC, but... better than nothing, right?

I've sent the news to the Skullgirls subreddit, the general fighting game subreddit and one of my regular Internet haunts that also has a small Skullgirls community. Hopefully, the word gets out quickly so that it can be completely confirmed.

Just looked up my list of downloads off the store and Encore (trial and what I assume is a unlock key) is there. It's downloading as I make this post.
Will edit this post to confirm if everything is in order...or report if there's problems. *knock on wood*

EDIT: just opened up Training mode to slap Filia around a bit but everything's seem to work fine n' dandy.
River King Casino, Backer palettes, locked Squigly, everything seems to be in place...

Just a couple of questions:
1) Purchasing the color pack unlocks all palettes, right?
2) How the hell did you people manage to compress the game this much?! It went from 1745Mb to 785Mb! (Not really a question but it certainly left me gobsmacked!)

In any case, time to dig up the fighting pad and go back to Day One.

Just to clarify - if you can download it, it will work. There was never any expectation that there would be problems with the game, as the build that's up there is identical to the current build up on US PSN.

I just wanted to make sure that the SCEE entitlements were out to a lot of people and not just a random handful of people before going wide with the announcement.

1) Yup.
2) It's basically zipped and decompressed in realtime. Sony has a zlib library, and Mike integrated that with the game for this remaster to get the file size down.

What's the ETA on Big Band on consoles? I'm ready to give you my money.

Big Band's patch is currently in testing with Digital Hearts.

So far the build looks pretty clean, so we believe we should be able to submit the patch to SCEA and SCEE a week from Monday. This is by no means a guarantee.

If everything goes perfectly, he could be out on April 1st - yeah, yeah, I know. But nothing ever does for us, so I certainly wouldn't count on that.

...Then again, I think the curse could make a 4/1 release a possibility, just so we have to spend all day on social media saying NO REALLY ITS NOT A JOKE GUYS.

SCEJ and XBLA will most likely see Squigly and Big Band released simultaneously. No idea on the date.

I have been yelling and screaming trying to make this happen faster, even going as far as angrily tweeting at Shuhei Yoshida (the head of SCEJ) himself. Believe it or not, that actually seems to have helped a bit - there was a stupid, unecessary bureaucratic step that magically disappeared soon after. And I even have a meeting with someone from SCEI at GDC next week to discuss ways to make this process smoother.

The XBLA patch with Squigly should be submitted for testing any day now. If we don't pass on the first go with that build, which I don't expect we will, we'll resubmit with the Big Band patch.
