Since I didn't dare to touch the skullgirls multiplayer for the longest of times and played mostly against the higher-difficulty AI, I have accumulated lots of habits and routines that screw me over when playing against meatbags with working brains. Things like starting every match with exactly the same attacks or always using the same mixups. Do you people have any helpful tips how to get rid of habits that keep you from playing decently?

    Make a swear jar-like thing.
Everytime you do one of your bad habits put a coin in c:

That could work, but for real (from my personal experience) playing a lot whilst keeping these bad habits in mind is eventually enough. Though this is obviously not the fastest way.
Here are the steps to getting rid of those nasty bad habits:
    > Identify your bad habits, writing them down is also good. (Maybe make a training thread on here~)
    > Research about your bad habits: i.e. what other mixups can you do from that position? what are your other round-start options and what are they good for? etc, etc.
    > Keep these things you've researched in mind as you play, and play A LOT or REGULARLY. You want to play and constantly go "Ah man, maybe if I did that thing I found a while ago it would've worked better" and slowly overwrite your muscle memory with regular play.
    > Start trying to alternate between old thing you were doing and new thing you found during matches. This should start getting you used to switching between stuff on the fly.

This is basically what Fumako said, but I find it much easier to overwrite an old habit with a new one instead of just trying to get rid of the old one. For example, instead of practicing something like "stop going for the f+LP overhead every time I get close", I would practice going for more throws or lows.

Thanks for the help, folks. Guess there is no way around more intensive training. Would you suggest to try to improve on my muscle memory in training mode or directly out there in the tear- and blood-soaked fields of quickplay?

Also is it okay if I lose my shit for a moment because a LZ-dev tried to help me improve my game?
