This is not a guide to assist new players to become better ones, this is merely to help
people through single player modes (Arcade and Story) with the least amount of trouble.

Alright, so you've decided to pick up Skullgirls even though you're completely new/don't play fighting games?
More invested in the lore than anything? Perfectly fine!

Then this guide is for you! This will contain tips to ease up on fighting so you can enjoy your experience more. However if at any point you wish to become more familiar with the game, I suggest reading up on several other guides here by higher level players and start playing people.

The first thing you need to know is your button layout, what corresponds to what. the defaults for each controller is:
X (Xbox) / (PS3/4) / A (PC) = Light Punch :LP:
Y (Xbox) / (PS3/4) / S (PC) = Medium Punch :MP:
Right Button (Xbox) / Right Button (PS3/4) / D (PC) = Heavy Punch :HP:

A (Xbox) / X (PS3/4) / Z (PC) = Light Kick :LK:
B (Xbox) / O (PS3/4) / X (PC) = Medium Kick :MK:
Right Trigger (Xbox) / Right Trigger (PS3/4) / C (PC) = Heavy Kick :HK:
(The movement keys on keyboard are the arrow keys.)

All will be referred as their abbreviations from here on out.

To make fights easier on you, go to your settings (Help and Options in the menu) and Select "Settings", scroll down and change both timers to 30 seconds, this will make all local fights (Single Player modes included) only 30 seconds and it will make characters like Bloody Marie much more bearable.

Next up, go into training room, this will be groan worthy but this will make your fights much easier. Just tap your choice of kicks or punches from lightest to hardest as this will allow you to get a quick strike and rack up damage quickly. If done correctly, your combo counter will display 3+, depending on which character as some characters have multiple hits on their attacks.

Once you got this down you may challenge the arcade or story mode on sleepwalk. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me, I wish to make this as non-aggravating as possible.
