Bayonetta thread? Bayonetta thread

I was so happy to get to the end of the level, and see that the level was
Prologue

Playing the demo, I thought it was one of those demos that dropped you in several missions in, but THAT WAS THE PROLOGUE! THE INTRO!! Platinum's games always escalate in crazy with every level, so THAT ESTABLISHED THE BOTTOM LEVEL OF CRAZINESS!!! FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU-
Welcome to Bayo. The first one had its demo level be the first section of Chapter 1, before Jeanne first appears.

Nope. She first showed up in Records of Time in her old-timey outfit, then in her modern day incarnation in the Prologue, and then on her bike in Chapter 1 (which is the Jeanne appearance I'm referring to).

So I just got finished playing the demo since I'm always like the last to find out stuff.
And it works fine with the gamepad! I do still want the classic controller since the pad is too wide and shiz but I dunno, maybe I can hold off on it.
That's all I had to say. C:
I'm just so happy about that.

At the risk of being the guy preemptively ruining the fun for everyone, I just want to tell you folks to not get crazy on expectations. Without giving much away, I'll simply the say the last two bosses vastly pale in comparison to the last two of the prequel.
Nonetheless, there's tons of moments that are absolutely brilliant and will definitely live up to your expectations; it's just that the finale is kinda 'meh'.

That said, I will courteously return to silence until you folks see things for yourselves and we can discuss them properly. <(__)>

I double checked on the Bayo wiki: the motorbike scene with Jeanne is in the very first cutscene of Chapter 2. Chapter 1 ends with the boss fight right before it, the one that breaks apart the ground trying to kill you.

But yeah, I forgot about Jeanne's appearance in Prologue.

Right. I forgot, but yeah, the Bayo 1 demo goes from the corridor before the Gates of Hell explanation to the end of Chapter 1.

I wish I could, but I can't really justify the purchase of a Wii U AND Bayo 2 right now, what with being a poor college kid and all.

How many of you are going to be getting Bayonetta 2? I'd love to play Tag Climax with you guys! :3

Just order a Bayo 2 poster to hang on my wall.

Crazy excited for Bayonetta 2. Just gotta get a WiiU and the game

I was gonna buy Bayo 2
But then Nintendo costumes

Now I'm buying it like 67 times
Tag Climax looks especially fun and cool

I was gonna get Bayonetta 2 at launch, but given that I still need to play a bunch of games and that I want to finally get a PS Vita, it's been shoved back to Christmas List material.
Or, at the very least, my Christmas Gift to myself.

Huh. Been looking at the GameFAQs Bayo2 board, and it seems that some people are getting pretty salty due to changes in the system preventing most relaunch combos and other nonsense from the first game, forcing people to actually learn stuff (like Dodge Offset).

So in other words, "git gud"?

North American Bayonetta 2 Site Open, Confirms Separate Disc For Bayonetta 1

bayonetta-2-discs.png

At this point it was practically a sure thing, but the North American Bayonetta 2 site – which is now fully open by the way – officially confirms that Bayonetta 1 will come on a separate disc. You can find the disc art for both games above.

Like we mentioned last week, Bayonetta’s distribution on the eShop will be a bit different.

You’ll first need to purchase Bayonetta 2 for $50, and then the original game for $10.

Hi, it’s Mari Shimazaki again – lead character designer.

We’ve got just one week until Bayonetta 2 hits the shelves. Are you ready?

Loki

For my last little update before the game goes on sale, I’d like to talk about some new characters at the center of Bayonetta 2’s story, and some “extras.

In the original Bayonetta, our main character traveled with a little girl named Cereza. This time, it’s a mysterious kid that sports some attitude.

Designing him had its twists and turns. First he was actually planned to be a girl, but Kamiya saw that and said “…I did that the first game.” So we changed it to a boy.

If I talk about him too much I’m scared I might ruin some of the game’s story, but I think I can at least talk about the colors, accessories, and patterns I chose for him. I wanted him to have a modern look that still was also reminiscent of the other worldliness of his character.

Also, I’ll say a thing or two about the cards he uses.

In the actual game you only see him use a few specific ones, but I actually drew an entire set, kind of just because I wanted to.

One set totals to 22 cards.

There are also Verse Cards in the game that preserve the same basic design, but they were a collaboration work between the entire team. They made 53 cards altogether.

If you’re into cards those numbers might ring a bell. That’s right: they’re the same number of cards that you’ll find in a set of tarot cards (Major Arcana) and playing cards.

There are a lot of explanations for how tarot cards and playing cards originated, but for Bayonetta 2, I liked to design them thinking “what if the real origin of tarot/playing cards lies with Loki?” That helped me design them to make sense in Bayonetta’s world.

As for his 22 card set… can you guess the tarot counterpart for each card?

Might be interesting to put them side by side and try to see if you can tell.

Masked Lumen

Masked Lumen… another key figure to Bayonetta 2’s story.

Just like Loki, I won’t tell you too much about who he is to avoid spoilers, but I’ll at least say the two concepts that I kept in mind while designing him were “straight lines” and “grace.”

Super Mirror/Couture Bullets

After acquiring the Super Mirror 2, Bayonetta can become an Umbran Gekka, Policewoman, Schoolgirl… They’re what’d you’d call “unlockable costumes.”

The basic design process I went through for these costumes was to brainstorm with Hashimoto and think about what costumes the fans would like. Then, out of those, Kamiya, Hashimoto, and I each chose a costume of our liking.

For the first Bayonetta, Kamiya was the director, so he chose the P.E. Uniform.

For Bayonetta 2, Hashimoto was the director, and he chose the Umbran Gekka.

Kamiya admitted that he probably indulged himself a bit too much when he made his choices for the first Bayonetta, so he chose something with a bit more mass appeal for this game: the policewoman. Hashimoto chose the Umbran Gekka, and I chose the schoolgirl outfit.

The process taught us about each other’s individual preferences, which was fun.

During game development, we always get to making these extras at a time when the staff really have their hands full. Sometimes it’s hard to put in everything we want, but we all still really want our fans to enjoy the game as much as possible, so we do what we can.

Some of the ideas that the staff had were pretty out there. I ended up drawing some interesting sketches so if I ever have the chance I think it’d be fun to show you.

After you finish your first playthrough of the game, be sure to try out the main game, Muspelheim, and Tag Climax in your own favorite costume.

Be just a little more patient—good times are right around the corner!

Finally got around to the demo

Words cannot express
Pens cannot write
The amount of hype I felt

It feels EXACTLY like I thought it would and SOOOOOOOOOOO much more
Waiting this week is gonna be hell

None (0 or 22) The Fool - Loki
1 The Magician - Lumen Sage
2 The High Priestess - Umbra Witch
3 The Empress - Right Eye of the World
4 The Emperor - Left Eye of the World (you dun goofed here, Mari)
5 The Hierophant - Loptr
6 The Lovers - Rosa & Balder
7 The Chariot - Pain
8 Justice - Glamor
9 The Hermit - Beast Within
10 Wheel of Fortune - ???
11 Strength - demon/witch contract
12 The Hanged Man - ???
13 Death - Cereza (?) (seems like a child with both light and dark reaching out to her)
14 Temperance - ???
15 The Devil - ???
16 The Tower - Witch Time (?)
17 The Star - Fimbulventr (?)
18 The Moon - Inferno
19 The Sun - Paradiso*
20 Judgment - Aesir
21 The World - Omne

*I think 18 and 19 are meant to embody all of the realm...or that's the case with 14 and 15, while 18 and 19 really are just a Hideous and a Affinity
Some are pretty tough to figure... HALP. (.__.)

I think The Hanged Man represents a Golem (which is neither angel nor demon) and the Wheel of Fortune is meant to represent something spoilery...

Loki's power of nothingness, especially considering that it's the last card he pulls out when deleting the Eyes of the World.

Loki looks interesting indeed (love how Mari drew his hands and omg leggy Bayo). The only thing that kinda takes away the coolness of his design is the whole ‘‘millennium puzzle‘‘ thing. The Yugioh jokes‘ve become too much for me -_-

Yugioh McCornrolls is like the best thing ever though

Props to @Balder for it

So I played the demo for 2, first time playing anything Bayonetta-related. Done diddly played it, three times in a row, a 4th an 5th time later that night. Fun times indeed. I'm not gonna be able to get it day 1 because I'm tight on funds, but I can say I regret getting Hyrule Warriors over this.

I would love to play Bayo 2. It actually looks pretty damn awesome, but I do not see how anyone can justify the $360 price tag. Who does Nintendo think I am, Scrooge McDuck?

The game is only $60 though

the joke

Just came here to say, God damn. That new look. She is so fucken Hnggggg!

Couldn't stop looking at this picture so I made it my wallpaper.
