Bayonetta thread? Bayonetta thread

While Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive, it was still pretty surprising to see her actually wear costumes from Nintendo characters like Link, Princess Peach, and Samus. In a recent blog post by Platinum Games, they talk about how it started and the design process for all three costumes.

The collaboration costumes with Nintendo started when Hideki Kamiya asked the developers at Platinum to design some Princess Peach costumes for Bayonetta, which was pretty surprising for the designers, as both characters are complete contrasts.

The above image is what was used as the base for the designs.

Here are the first rough designs that were drawn to show Kamiya different possibilities, to which he said that the closer they could make it to Peach’s original designs, the better.

After getting some feedback, the above is a look at the cleaned-up result of Bayonetta’s Peach costume, in addition to the little Mario strap.

Princess Daisy

They also used the same design for Princess Peach’s to make one for Daisy as well, which also comes with a Luigi charm.

Samus Aran

The designer mentions that he’s a big fan of mecha, so designing the Samus suit was the most fun for him. To the left is the original design, which is based off Samus’ Varia Suit, but Kamiya said that her Power Suit would be better, so they decided to go with that.

Finally, the above is a look at the Link costume, which they felt like they couldn’t do much to change it in terms of design, which Kamiya was fine with. However, since they were working on costumes based on Nintendo characters, they had to make sure it was fine, then have Nintendo take a look for a final check as well. For that reason, the designers at Platinum were careful, and felt that it could be risky to make Link’s outfit look sexy, so they decided to design it so her chest area would not be as revealing. To their surprise, it was actually Nintendo who then suggested to have the design show more of her chest, which really impressed the Platinum designers to hear coming from Nintendo. After all was said and done, the Platinum Games designers were satisfied with the costume, and felt that they were able to retain some of Bayonetta’s characteristics in it.

For some reason I'm grimacing at the thought of Peach in a leotard.

My pre-order got delayed!

Nintendo eShop - Bayonetta 2

Welp. I got Bayo 2 this morning. I've given the game a decent amount of time thus far, and while it doesn't quite meet my expecta-

<bursts out laughing>

Okay, okay, I kid. If the game keeps up this level of stupid, incredible fun, I will have no reason not to call it my game of the year. Hell, it's currently a contender for my favorite game ever!

The ONE, ONLY thing I am not very happy about (and I don't blame them for making this change) is that Bayo 2 got rid of the insane distance you fly forward with the air dodge if it's used out of a Panther-Within jump. It's taking me quite a bit of time to get used to that change, but that's just me whining about a balance change.

So far, Bayo 2 is FREAKING BANANAS IN A DEMON-POSSESSED SLOTMACHINE FUN!!!

I just got it. Though I never played the first one, so I'm doing that first. only 5 years late to the party....With a Samus suit. ;D

I also noticed they kicked down the automatic rapidity (is that a word?) of her guns. I really loved that. But hey, we got Chain Chomps now, lol wtf.

They probably lowered the fire rate because the DMC charge shot had returned.

That's cool as shit. Nintendo gettin' risque and pullin' out all the stops. Me like x10.
....coulda had someone with a bigger ass, though.

I'm totally getting this and a Wii U as soon as winter break starts. I already know I'm going to get sucked into this big time, so I definitely can't have that with school tightening up, ha ha.

I was looking at the Playboy Bayonetta pictures and I just realized why the model seemed familiar: she was at San Diego Comic Con 2013 and was taking pictures with people there at the Nintendo lounge. I got a picture with her, but the guy before me got on his hands and knees and asked her to put her foot on him while he looked up in pain from his position.

bayonetta 2 is so fucking godlike i am seriously debating whether buying a passport to japan (the flight and hotel is already paid for) should be first on my list or a wii u

I was asked to summarize my position. Take my opinion for the disappointed fangirl rambling that it is. Just don't hate me too bitterly.

I am well aware that Bayo 2 would not exist if not for Nintendo putting up the money. However I'm not willing to cough up $300 for a Wii U, not that I have that kind of money and if I did I still wouldn't buy one. I also am well aware that a port will never happen because Nintendo hoards it's IPs like Smaug hoards shiny objects. I resigned myself to the futility of never being able to play this game a long time ago, but others foolishly approached Kamiya about a port. Kamiya responded in typical intrawebz style, establishing himself as a troll game developer. I think that as person in the public eye, he should have handled that better. Though nowadays it seems like most people in the public eye act like assholes anyway and act like they have the right to do because they're famous and we're dirty peasants. Eh...

So to reiterate I know Bayonetta 2 would not exist without Nintendo, but for me it might as well not exist.
You can get a used wii u 32 gb straight from nintendo for 200 flat.

Bayonetta 2 Soundtrack Packaging

bayonetta-2-soundtrack.jpg

Japan received a five-disc soundtrack for Bayonetta 2 this week. On Twitter, PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya shared the packaging.

Soon, m'dear, soon.

Just finished the game and loved it! Currently on my way of correcting some of the gold statues in the chapters...

So just a question, I do remember that there is a Bracelet of time how do I unlock it in this game?

I think that in Bayo 2, you have to beat the game on normal with all chapters being at least gold. Don't know for sure.

I'm not sure if any of you guys experienced this, but in my first playthrough of Bayo 2, I pretty much never used Torture Attacks because I was using up meter for Umbran Climax, than pretty far into the game, I was like "eh, I guess I'll use a Torture Attack", and than felt almost immediate regret that I hadn't been using Torture Attacks more.

Torture Attacks in Bayo 2 are so much more brutal, it's sad that I let them get overshadowed by Umbran Climax.

Platinum could probably fix that by having Torture Attacks only take up some of a magic meter. That way you don't need that much to either do another TA, or to fill up and use Umbran Climax. And I think you can taunt enemies to gain magic, dodging too, of course.

There are good ways to gain meter, but I was just constantly in the mindset of "doing high/100% damage to one non-boss enemy is just not as valuable as doing pretty high damage to every and anyone on-screen, and being able to deal hit-stun even to bosses".

Now I am constantly in the mindset of "doing high/100% damage to one non-boss enemy is just not as valuable as doing
high/100% damage to one enemy WITH A SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT!!!

Witch Mech + Bracelet of Time + Gaze of Despair = Infinite Magic

Or you could just Climax Brace 1.

Yep. Climax Brace 1 was altered to be Bayo's version of the Super costumes in DMC by giving you infinite magic. Climax Brace 2 turns you into a glass cannon: more damage with Infernal Weaves, but you take more damage.

A new episode of the Umbran Arts has been released. This one focuses on melding offense with defense and Witch Time.

I got the game today, in a surprising turn of events. 2 that is. What I'm gonna do is play Bayo 1 first, and wait around 4 months before playing the sequel. Probably longer. I did this exact same with Persona 3: The Journey and The Answer.

Not dead. Just resting due to lack of new content. If it was dead, you would probably have gotten a gif of Bayo getting dragged to Inferno.

Speaking of new content, Platinum made a tiny 2D Flash Bayo game with some sprites they made for an April Fool's joke and put it on their website.
