Blazblue Cross Tag Battle.

Even more impressive since he didn't like playing any BlazBlue games.
Having characters that appeal to his style really helped. And once he found out Gordeau had a Gambit color well...

Even earlier in the stream tonight he mentioned if FighterZ wasn't around he'd be playing this game even more. But with so many fighting games and Soul Calibur VI on the horizon, juggling through all these fighters is gonna be a chalenge.

Max said he still doesn't like how playing BB characters feels in this game.

I hope the "yes" response he got to "is this how [Under Night] characters feel in their own game?" gets him to actually learn Under Night and not just press buttons at it for an hour (even though they don't play the same, they just "feel" the same).

I've gotta catch up on his stream VODs... probably gonna do that after I'm done playing for myself.

I have the Switch version of the beta and it's a whole lot of fun. I really like playing as Es, Chie, Makoto, Ruby, and Gordeau. I also did a few online matches and had a lot of fun there too. Sure, I don't really know what I'm doing, but that's okay. Movement was kinda slippery at first but it's fine once you get used to it. And it's also a way to play characters from Blazblue and the other games since I don't own those games.

And yes, I'm gonna be the poor soul who gets the Switch version. Because my computer is a potato and I'm not spending another 200 something dollars to get a new console just for it. I'd get my ass kicked for that.

So as hinted by that Ragna-Jin victory animation that was shown earlier, every team that has special intro dialogue also has special victory-pose dialogue if both characters are alive and on-screen (which isn't that hard since backup characters stay on-screen a long time). A few of them have special animations.

Trying to figure out Narukami. His 5B is weird, I can't figure out how to combo into it (aside from after assist) or out of it, and it seems more like a zoning tool than anything, 5B auto-combo into Zio. Also he doesn't have Thunder God Dance, I wanted to learn that glorious super rekka. :(

Hyde might be my favorite, but... I dooon't really want to play Hyde or Linne in this game. Still feeling Es, she's the most attractive candidate right now (yes I am aware of what I just wrote). Yukiko is interesting (and has strong potential with assist call + fire increase) and I'd like to learn her zoning and try it against actual humans who actually jump. Gordeau and Ruby scythe normals feel a bit slow.

So I goofed around with the "demo" on my switch. It's interesting, but the buttons that's in place totally ruins the fun. Nothing but Auto Attacks pretty much. I can't even play Makoto the same way that I normally do =\ I did like playing Ruby though. And yes, Red like Roses II is def the best song to fight to.

Minus the guard crush, it's almost to the point of my usual combo for her.

Expecting everything to work the same as BBCF is like expecting Ryu in Marvel to work just like Ryu in Street Fighter. This is a totally different game with totally different rules.

I mean, I feel like this game could have a lot more freedom with even one more attack button, and more down-down specials (they have at least one).

Even without that, I still feel like it's a pretty good fighting game and easier to get into, but with that I feel like it could be one of the best, eh, "hyper fighters." More combo freedom (also I don't like Team Blue's combo limiters, but whatever), more neutral (or just pushblock distance and pressure chain) freedom, but also more intimidating when piling on all the assist and tag options. BBTAG 2, make it happen! Or... SG2...?

Oh, and air grabs. I don't really understand the reason not to have airgrabs; it's not strictly necessary, it's basically impossible to use Dragon Rush in DBFZ neutral, but I feel like it just hurts the rushdown of characters without really good anti-airs for their reversals since people can more easily jump sideswitch while getting walked (or ran) down. Chie and Yosuke have counters as their reversal action, and they are super rushdown. I get that just using fullscreen supers and calling assists is strong in this game, but there will (hopefully) be things happening at pushblock distance.

Well well... The rumor mill is saying the game got datamined through the switch beta.

Blazblue is getting Izayoi, Mai Natsume, and Nine.
Persona is getting Ahkihiko, Mitusuru, and Labrys
Under Night is getting Merkava, Mika, and Yuzuhira

It also implies more are to come after this wave.

You forgot to mention RWBY has an unknown 5th slot.
Which could either be Cinder or Roman Torchwick since RWBY has no villains yet.

I mean, Hazama is the only "standard" villain in the total roster so far, and he's still not Izanami. I guess there's also 13, plus Azrael being a punk.

Nobody in UNI aside from Hilda is truly antagonistic, though Merkava leans that way. No Shadow Labrys (who probably can't really be distinct from Labrys in this game) or Sho Minazuki, not even Adachi (who's kind of anti-hero now).

People are trying to argue that we're not getting Adachi/Rise/Junpei because there's no "Ultimax" in the logo but c'mon, Mitsuru and Akihiko are shoo-ins and Labrys is a strong pick. Mori said they want to support the game as long as possible, so when the only P4A character left is Teddie I'm not seeing it.

So... I'm just hoping for Pyrrha. With triangle jumps.

And with that full roster, Hilda will come next year hopefully.

@7:41, two new names pop up.

Either the game has OC’s to spare, or SENRAN KAGURA is getting up into this mix, boys.

The in-Birth Wiki doesn't mention Waldstein's English VA. But after hearing it, I'm guessin'... Chris Sabat. Who else?

Yang update. She's on a roll.

You made me hope she had a Ken roll.

Honestly she just looks like a standard shoto, and we already have a handful of those plus they have swords. She at least has an install, so I hope the fire on her hits is an interesting mechanic and not just extra damage (given how combo routes work in this game, it's probably just extra damage).

I can't tell if it's her Ultimate Suplex Hold/Ultimax voice or not. It sounds a little better than her story lines in Ultimax. We're never getting her old VA back I guess.

Kanji still sounds like Matt Mercer, who is not Troy Baker. I thought Troy was just temporarily out of the role for his wedding. But I haven't looked for him in the voice-acting world or otherwise.

Troy is unionized now
so a lot of the roles he used to do got replaced because they weren't union jobs
Kanji, Nova, etc etc

I don't feel so good Miss Belladonna.

When I found that video, I thought "...Why the hell did they end the Astral like that? Also it looks like that dumb meme."

So many memes are gonna be made out of stuff from this game.

Well, at least Yang is looking a bit more interesting with her tatsu being Brass Knuckle and having a command grab.

According to the comments, it's (yet another) hard reference to the "Black" Trailer.
I'm not sure if Rooster Teeth opted to have a lot of the references be from the trailers- Season 2 or if that's all Arc Sys but I mean, I don't blame them.
I'd want as much Monty-era choreography as possible too.

Oh yeah... I vaguely remember Adam doing that in Black Trailer. I think Blake did that whole sequence, but the kill was Adam's. Just slamming them into the ground at the end of a ribbon-knife and disintegrating... has no impact.

I mean, Episode 8 and the trailers are the best fights. They're basically considered required-reading too, though I dunno how much ArcSys cares since they're way off the rails with Weiss' writing anyway.

And the memes keep comin'
That attack seems like it should've had the "K.O.!" splash on during the last hit and then had the disintegration effect as a win pose.

also blake is so outclassed by her best mom (and best dad)

Blake is gonna be eSports as fuck. Look at this giant ass normals.
