Blazblue

So I finished the story mode today and while I definitely would have preferred the english dub, the Japanese is passable. The voices sound a little weird at first but it's not like Guilty Gear where you have to mute May to even tolerate the game.

I'll agree the story really drags for the first, like, 80%, and honestly is pretty bad compared to CPEX, but I think that it has a pretty satisfying ending. The plot twists where also pretty good; a couple of the revelations actually caught me off guard but still made sense. If you like the gameplay of BB at all I would definitely recommend picking up a copy. If you just want the story you can probably just find a full upload on Youtube or something.
 
after playing with a couple of the new characters, I gotta say I love Es and Naoto.

Es is just a cute sword waifu with a delayed stationary projectile and she has essentially EX moves that you can quickly set up. I love this character.

Naoto is also cool. who needs to block when you can just fucking punch shit? like, I was kinda worried he'd feel like an easy-bake character for first timers to the series, but he's actually really fun to play and I like his moveset.

I'm super rusty since I havent played BB in forever.
 
I should feel ashamed but I play Nine (And Celica, Band, and Kokonoe)

I'd play Naoto if it didnt feel like everything he did either had no range or was delayed unto infinity
 
Well I mean, his D moves are delayed, but his normals are great. His short range is made up for speed and really solid specials and supers.


Also, did Makoto love her meter to hold down for stronger moves? I was playing against the computer and I don't think I saw it anywhere. did Makoto finally become fun to play?
 
it only shows up when she actually uses those moves now

I just really like her design and character. Her fighting style has always been one of the things I hated the most in Blazblue.

I've noticed that Bullet feels really good to play now though. Guess buttfloss got buttbuffs.

Shes at least better. Poor Kagura man. I just...I used to play him but GOD DAMN did they put him in the ground.
 
I like how they gave her simple motions and yet refuse to simplify any of the other motions in the game >_>

Not gonna lie my biggest issue with Blazblue is those half circle and back motions: :HCF::B:
they never feel consistent and always fuck me up. Why not simplify them if you're gonna introduce simple characters with simple motions?

Anyway, yeah, Mai is fun. Annoying as all hell to play against though lol

I saw Bullet get some buffs, but they nerfed her combo game at the same time, which is kinda goofy.
 
Bullet actually has the tools to take a game off of any character in the cast. She's considered dumpster tier because she has serious consistency issues at high levels.

Curious what you mean by this. The changes in CF fixed a lot of what I thought was wrong with her in CPEX, so I'm kinda surprised she's still at the bottom. Did everyone else also get buffed or am I missing something?
 
IIRC She lost some very vital combo strings. I think her 41236 C throw throws her opponents outside of combo range unless you burn meter or something or Heat Up meter (?)

"Another example (so sorry for drawing this out), bullet is considered really weak, but she can definitely kill you if you make a wrong guess against her. But she’s considered weak because of the probability behind her overall success. Still, if you roll the dice enough times, you might win? If your opponent makes a mistake, even though your chances are low because your rps chances suck, you CAN win off that despite its’ instability etc.

It’s important to recognize that a character like bullet can kill you based on /her/ aspects being adequate when given a chance. Despite her sub B- placement. This is because she has a few absolutes in her play that remain absolute in most matchups: command throw offense, some very strong hitboxes, damage with resource. Usually the game becomes “avoid these strong points” (which is fairly easy, which is why she is weak)."

tl;dr Bullet's offensive game is totally dependent on taking risks where the odds of success are never in her favor. It's certainly possible to take rounds against her worst matchups with her, but over the course of many rounds (such as during a tournament) the law of large numbers is more than likely going to screw her over.

So the steam version of BBCF got patched and now the sprites no longer look like pixelated garbage. They also seemed to fix the frame drop issues and added more settings for people with lower end systems.

You know, now that I'm actually seeing what the game is supposed to look like, the graphics are actually decent.

Fucking Jubei. I can't believe it. Still needs an English patch cause the English cast is what sold me on BB in general. It's a fun game, but some of the Eng cast just made the game even better to me. The New BB Cross can be in Japanese for all I care, but after 3 full on English BB games, the 4th just axing the Eng team is pretty off putting to want to play.
