Catheads 1 Meter

Cheers.

Anyway, the problem with Double in SDE was that she could just come in and (as has already been established) throw out cat heads over and over again. If people are wanting different play styles then having a centric focus on one move is not the way to go about it. One of the best things about Skullgirls is that most of the characters have flexibility in how they go about their approach, so if we want Double (or any character for that matter) to no longer be focused on rushdown then more has to change than just a single move if we want it to be good.

For example, just removing Filia's air-dash wouldn't stop her from being rush-down focused. Likewise, if her Ringlet Spike was buffed and given more varied ranges then she'd have ranged pressure options but would no doubt be ridiculous as she'd have both ranged game and rush-down plus even crazier pressure, but changing her air-dash, Ringlet Spike and maybe removing airballs would put the focus on zoning, instead of rush-down.

I don't play Double so I can't really see what could be changed for her, but I've played against enough of her in SDE to know that 1 meter cat-heads, or any cat-head buff at all is not the answer.

@Duckator

Ty for that link that was an interesting conversation. Sorry about the confusion. Though, I was referencing something I "think" I heard you say in the worldjem skype at the end, feel free to correct me there as well if I was incorrect.

Also, I agree that lockdown is dead and keepaway is dying.

Sep 28 02:59:58 <Duckator> It's just that no one can block for more than 5 seconds

My only problem with this statement is that it's honestly way more than 5 seconds because it only costs 1 meter, so you can constantly produce more of them. You will eventually get hit with all the meter investment on double, which leads to double gaining another meter.

Exactly, in reality it leads to more like 40s or more where your opponent can't really do anything other then block.

More then that, Catheads completely invalidates the neutral game because it dominates all the space on the screen.

First of all, I want to apologize to Duckator for coming in here due to my name dropping. Original post edited.

Double has never been fairly tested with 1 meter catheads. Macro made sure of that.

Use current two meter as an example of it being tested at 1? Fair. What can be fixed so it is.

Hate it being an mindless tool? Suggest how it can be otherwise.

Don't like it being in blockstun so long? Is it because of it or you? Catheads? Suggest fix.

Shit would be boring? Fair. Not the point.

If you read Duckator's post above, I am initially against it. Still sort of am. But why not collectively try to figure something out instead of bitching. Is it hard to try something out?

P.S. I said no meter gain if catheads cost 1 meter. I later redacted that because it would negate the purpose.

It doesn't really matter if you gain meter during catheads, the problem is the meter you gain after you land a hit and start a combo with them.

Well, suggest meter reduction stays even after catheads ends.

The current meter gain system, coupled with cathead nerfs like shorter duration, no meter gain during catheads, catheads becoming immediately inactive if double is forced to block/get hit (as opposed to catheads sometimes remaining active because she activated them before she blocked/got hit) or maybe making the catheads move slower, would warrant it being a level 1. Probably would have to reduce the damage of the hits, also.

Catheads were stupid in SDE and was becoming a cancer for the direction the meta game was heading. Very little room for debate on this.

2 meter Catheads sounds like a radical method of alleviating this problem, but it got the job done for the most part. Now the community can finally move on and find the next OP technique and bring that to the ground as well.

I'm too new and inexperienced perhaps to comment here...but 1 meter cat heads? Were they as strong as the 2 meter version is now? Cause that seems ridiculous.

Yes, 1 meter catheads was undoubtedly one of the best supers in the game. If you had a lot of meter, you could keep bringing them back out for extreme mix up time and opportunities. It was broken in a sense. 2 meter version now is a toned down version. It's still good, but not overally stupid.

Wait why the heck is this in the Fortune section? Just because the topic says 1 and cathead in it doesn't mean that it's Ms. Fortune's head!

No we need this thread so it looks like people actually talk about fortune once in awhile.

Can we focus on current problems, not try and revisit old ones?

I personally never want to see Catheads again, regardless of how much meter it costs. But one meter double means start, catheads, one out of five mixups lands, combo, reset with catheads, one out of five mixups land, end with sweep, catheads, one out of five mixups land, etc... That's assuming Double isn't good at neutral and decides to try and get that first hit. And also ignoring Double's who come in with 3+ meter (though yeah, you could snap her in, but how varied is the gameplay when you're forced to snap in someone at the cost of meter to prevent something becoming ridiculous?). I mean, sure, the defender could just not get hit. But. Or whatever, I don't care. Maybe it'd be different with the new Beta changes.

Why was this in the fortune section...?

Can we just assume this person never played vanilla and move on? Because that's what I'm doing.

You know SG players like to post up nonsense, it's nothing new.

I don't think it'd be that big a deal now that you can't really build a whole meter in a single combo. It's still handy as it it now though so there's no real need to change it.

*NECROMANCY*

I'll be honest I wasn't really cool with catheads costing 2 meters as solo, but It's fair in the long run I guess.

I don't think double is necessarily meant for rush down, I think she's more midranged fuckery than anything else.
