So I decided to put my money where my mouth was and work my Photoshop majicks on a screencap of Ileum to make her crosses green, and whatdya know, it doesn't look half bad.

Maybe this could be her look whenever she ends up being playable or somethin'.

That doesnt look bad at all. Shame the pinkish purple is final for that too I bet.

Though I do honestly wonder if her intestine bodies shade of pink counts as red to them.

Because it's an alt palette. People can choose wacky stuff if they want, but you don't want the first impression of a character to be "she looks boring".

That logic doesn't really hold water.

Yeah that technically makes her a stronger pallete because you can't see the shuriken as well.

If color contrast is an issue, why is this okay?

Just make it a shade of tan is all I can tell. It'd still fit into that Shinobu Jacobs palette in my eyes. Its ultimately up to the devs if they ever change that one though.

It does, IMO. People usually see the cast in their default palettes before anything else, so they naturally are made to higher standards than all the other palettes. The other palettes are there for flavor and fun so they can stretch the limits with them a lot more.

Imagine if Big Band's Symphony Regalia palette was the first thing you saw of him

I can see us all in 60 years in wheelchairs, ranting at our grandchildren, saying "I remember back in the time of 2014 when Valentine's crosses were actually red. That was a good time. But I used the Shinobu palette anyways."

You're all going to be the weirdest grandparents.

So what are the exact color values of Valentine's crosses now? I've just been calling it Fuchsia but I'd like to know what it's hex code is.

Hey, it's a reason to replay Painwheel's and Valentine's story modes.

By the way, I don't concur with the claims that fuchsia goes against Valentine's character. I'd say it's quite the opposite. Part of said character is using sexuality as a part of her arsenal, be it as a distraction or derision. An aggressive pink tone in her clothing fits with the idea much better than the timid blue/green/gray that were suggested by some.

From what I sampled, the hex code is c91db1, which comes up as a shade of magenta.

I have no qualms in calling anyone claiming to be able to distinguish fuchsia and magenta a filthy liar, crook, commie and an avid fan of whatever is the most despised musical genre nowadays.

Not when the reason stated that they wanted to make sure it was a color that stood out on all the stages and would be easy to see.

Default palettes undergo far more scrutiny than secondary, non-canon palettes. The reasoning still holds water. It just means that we screwed up and didn't take visibility into consideration when making the brown palette. "Welp, we didn't think about the brown palette. Guess we should throw standards out the window!"... doesn't make much sense does it?

If the answer that would satisfy you regarding that is "OH SHIT, YOU'RE RIGHT, MAYBE WE SHOULD CONSIDER CHANGING THE BROWN ONE FOR BETTER CONTRAST/VISIBILITY", then there you have it. However, it's not like we set out to improve all of Val's palettes here. We were forced to look at specific palettes, and make very specific changes to meet criteria we didn't get to choose. We needed to make sure the change made sense in every way possible within those criteria, and we wanted to spend only as much time on it as we absolutely needed to BECAUSE AS YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED, GUYS, WE HAVE OTHER IMPORTANT WORK TO DO. We're pretty frustrated that we had to spend any time on this AT ALL, because it means it takes that much longer for us to bring you the stuff you all donated for, and the money we get paid to get it to you is WORTH LESS.

Fun fact: Because of this change, you will get to have Fukua earlier. Had we not been forced to make this color change to Val, you wouldn't be getting Fukua until the Eliza patch comes out.

Fun unrelated fact: render loves using Caps Lock.

I'm colourblind so if anyone swapped red with dark green you could cheat me out of my money any day.

I worded it a bit poorly, sorry.

Sorry for jumping down your throat there. -__-;; Right around "then there you have it" I was no longer responding to you and was just talking to everyone in general.

And you know I love to yell. D:

Oh I know, like I said, I should have been less of a smartass about the oversight, you guys have enough shit to worry about.

If only you had realized that before posting.
This goes for most internet comments though, including this one.

Actually the brown palette's shuriken are visible on most stages, nighttime Empty Cathedral wasn't even a figment of anyone's imagination when that palette was made. Too.

Thread hijack: I think I'm the only person who holds Shift the entire time to type in all Caps.

Why the hell do you do that

Myth busted. No, you're not. I keep forgeting about that button.

I had fun with this fact.

One plus is probably not accidentally leaving caps lock on then yelling at people for no reason elsewhere. When you get one of these:
>hI GUYS WHATS UP?
>shit
>Capslock, lel

Caps Lock is for lazy babies

Shift is for the strong!

This is honestly unfair, in my opinion, but if the law says so, then the law says so.

That's a poor mentality. There are downright retarded laws (like this copyright.) In Florida the law says you can shoot someone walking on your lawn. A hundred years ago the law said a man could beat the shit out of his wife with a stick. It being a law doesn't mean it's right.

This is just bullshit lawyer garbage that needs to be stopped. This is just as stupid as when Haagen Dazs claimed they legally owned Scandinavian gibberish and sued another company (yes that happened.) End rant.

For one, copyright has nothing to do with injuring innocent people, mortally or not, so comparing it to those various other unjust laws is a bit off.

For two, the Red Cross is a largely iconic multi-national symbol of peace and healing, so it might make sense if they (theoretically) get upset when a video game character uses that specific iconography as a weapon.

And the entire reason Val had red crosses to begin with is because they're so heavily associated with medicine and hospitals, and the reason that they're so heavily associated with medicine and hospitals is because it's the Red Cross's logo and they are the largest medication and hospital organization on the planet. So saying that the imagery is a violation of copyright is actually not at all off, and especially not comparable to an Ice-Cream company claiming copyright on a phrase that they have nothing to do with. Val actually specifically uses/used the Red Cross logo because of it's connection to the Red Cross, and thusly hospitals.

I absolutely understand there are some very dumbass laws, but this is a trademark law L0 doesn't want to stress over and lose money over. They just cannot risk it at this stage.
