Europe [Sep 9, 2017] London Games Society (LGS) monthlies (London, England)

I may be in Gloucestershire on that day looking at a house to rent. If I'm not though I'll be sure to make it, wanna get back in on some local SG action.

This is on Saturday! I'll be there, teaching Frost Skullgirls things.

Turns out a few of the other AH3 players are picking up SG, not just Frost. So even though Mace and Jammerz weren't there, there were still 5 people playing SG. It's just a pity that none of the people who post on here can make it :c

The next LGS is on Saturday August 13th. See you there!

In other news, it's super last-minute but me, woofly and Mace (C4IQ) will be at Brutal Deluxe (at the Violent City venue in Manor House) tomorrow evening. They have SG, Guilty Gear Xrd, SFV, Tekken, arcade 3S/ST/A2, Super Smash Bros Melee, and other arcade FGs like Breaker's Revenge. Hopefully me and woofly will play a streamed FT10 at the venue, but I'll post an update here once I have a better idea of what's going on. Here's their facebook page:

And if you can't access their Facebook page: Venue: ExFed, 199 Eade Road, London N4 1DN, Date: Wednesday 3rd August 2016, Time: 5pm-midnight, Venue fee £5, Games: everything I listed above. Like I said, it's very last-minute but if anyone else can make it there it should be fun!

Hey that's my birthday! I'll see what I can do this time.

Just found out that tiredocean and jammerz will be at Brutal Deluxe too, so that's at least 5 SG players that will be there tomorrow. So if you're reading this and you can make it down there, turn up and play!

Violent City was great for the most part! Lots of space, lots of setups, a stream (!!), lots of arcade cabs, and 10+ people playing Super Smash Bros Melee on CRTs if that's your kind of thing. And lots of people were there to play SG too, which is nice!

The only issue, and it's a fairly big one, was that both of the SG PS4 setups were laggy. I didn't think of checking the PS4 resolution at the time so hopefully that's what was causing the problem, because it's a lot easier to open up a settings menu than to convince a venue to buy new monitors. Hopefully I can track down the problem and solve it, because the venue was *amazing* aside from that.

Just found out that mace, jammerz (who sent Luffy to losers in SFV at VSFighting last week!!!) and smile can't make it down to LGS today, so I'll stay at home too. Hopefully people can go next time :c

I did plan on going to the last one but Sharpie roped me into making a hitbox for her friend and its eating all my free time right now...

LGS is this weekend, but I'm busy this Saturday so I can't make it. I'll be at Brutal Deluxe/Violent City tonight, and I'll try to find out what's causing the SG setups to lag and whether or not it can be fixed.

edit: The lag was caused by the PS4s being set to 1080p; the monitors are fine! From now on, SG will be lag-free at Brutal Deluxe.

The next LGS is Saturday October 1st, but I can't make it because I'll be in Florida at CEOtaku. On the bright side, I'll be at Brutal Deluxe this Wednesday to play some SG!

Brutal Deluxe is on hiatus while the organizer is away, but LGS is still on!

The next LGS is Saturday November 5th, and it's the only UK SG locals before Revo 2016 so I'll be there to get some last-minute offline practice.

It's tomorrow. like I said in the last post, it's the last UK SG locals before Revo. See you there!

LGS didn't run in January and I was at Yuzutaku in Paris during Feburary's LGS, but I'll be there on Saturday March 4th. See you there!

Hi!

I had to miss a bunch of LGS events over the past year due to other conflicts: CEOtaku, Yuzutaku, the Send The World To Combo Breaker exhibition matches, a family reunion, illness, and so on. The times that I have been able to make it there, I was the only Skullgirls player so I basically just had to sit around and talk to Blazblue and Arcana Heart players and not play anything. I want London Skullgirls locals to be a thing again so I figured I'd ask you guys what you want to do, hopefully without shaming anyone for not turning up; supporting your scene is a great thing to do, but people shouldn't be forced to go to events if they don't want to.

We could start turning up to LGS again, or stop running London Skullgirls locals altogether, or run them somewhere else (if anyone has any ideas), or I could force myself to learn Blazblue or Arcana Heart and keep attending LGS just in case any Skullgirls players appear, or anything else really. Maybe it's just that people didn't realize Skullgirls at LGS was still happening because I had to miss a bunch of months.

For what it's worth, I don't think any of this will affect whether or not Skullgirls will be at the next Revo. It does, however, affect whether or not me and the other UK Skullgirls players get to play offline more than once or twice a year :(

If anyone here still plays the game but doesn't want to attend locals any more, I'd love to know why. Not to try and shame you into changing your mind or anything, just so I have a better idea of what to improve. Feel free to PM me here or on steam or discord or anywhere else if you don't want to do it on a public forum.

Tagging a bunch of local-ish players: @Smile @Woofly @C4IQ MOP @HDJammerz (I don't think you're on Skullheart...) @me-tan @Pombear @TiredOcean (pretty sure you two are inactive but just in case...) @Alex12898 (not really London, I know, but you're UK so I didn't want you to feel left out) @Grodie (you're my roommate and I know you're busy on Saturdays but I wanted the list to be longer)
