Doesn't everyone love Sonic? - The Sonic the Hedgehog thread.

Okay new theories on sonic 17 if it is in fact not Sonic Generations 2 like SEGA is saying.
1. It could be Sonic Dimensions, aka it's sonic generations but less time gimmicky more alternate universes, like Boom, 06, rush, and maybe comics/shows.
2 Sonic CD2, but Sonic going to the past meeting Classic Sonic and both go through the game fixing the altered time line rather than just restoring erased timelines.

Would Scourge make his video game debut if we did dimensions
WHAT ABOUT SONIC UNDEGROUND
WE GOTTA HAVE SALLY BE CANON NOW TOO RIGHT

more universes just means MORE KNUCKLES

actually wait does underground becoming canon mean that we'll get the greatest scene in animation history redone in modern video game format

i'm speaking of course of

But how could you forget they made a very iconic appearance in a very well beloved game Sonic Spinball

Also, unfortunately, we don't know if Scourge, as well as a bunch of OC's that appeared in the comics prereboot, will ever be seen ever again due to legal reasons. But AoStH, Underground, and post reboot comics are fair game.

GIVE US WHAT WE WANT SEGA
WE WANT JALEEL
WE WANT HIM NOW

I never read the Sonic comics, bt isn't that like, the incident where the guy who wrote Sonic comics lost his fucking mind, left the company, and started making a comic about aliens that looked just like Echidnas?

Yep, Ken Penders, he took his OC's and did this

That being said I only recently got into the comics myself and from the reboot on I say it's worth a read. They follow the games a bit more closely but with SatAM cast and forgotten characters involved.
Although it's also kinda confusing just because the reboot technically starts in the Megaman x Sonic World's Collide comic. And then also leads into a background comic of Sonic Universe, in which the reboot starts in the SU comics at like around issue 26(?) following characters that aren't Sonic.

i want to believe there are worst fetishes around, but this guy is a strong contender

Gah. Late 90's/early 2000's-level CGI.

Anyway, Mania's apparently going to be pulling levels from the three Genesis games and Sonic CD and remixing them. I wonder what other levels will get remixed.

Not really. Gens brought in stuff from across the entire series and had nothing truly new outside of Time Eater. Mania's only pulling from the Genesis era and will have completely original levels, like Studiopolis Zone.

I'm kidding.

I'm actually kind of against this idea. It's sort've lazy and nostalgia-pandering-y.

I mean, they're doing it for the anniversary and as a side game next to a full brand new Sonic game. It doesn't look like it will be a full retail price game as opposed to something like Ducktales remastered or the many hd remasters out there. Difference is this one has new content and another full game its meant to hold is over till. Honestly reminds me a bit of the Odin Sphere remake with how it's doing it

Wait I forgot Sonic Boom created a Manic/Scourge knock off character that pales Boom Sonic (or sonic in general) in the 90's department
Though I don't and doubt we'll ever see him again though. (Though who knows with boom getting season 2)

I'm ridiculously hyped for Sonic Mania. The Drop Dash alone is making my imagination go wild. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

So I caught up on the Sonic Comic's (from the reboot on) and I'll say that they are worth a shot if your interested. The comedy/writing is very meta but not so much to not being able to stand on it's own two legs. Unfortunately you'll have at least read both the main series comics and the Sonic Universe comics as well to get the full enjoyment IMO. Also I touched up somewhat before the reboot, has it's moments but the reboot is alot better overall.
And side note I like that there seems to be a fair balance between humans and furries in the Archie comic's. Like I always found it jarring that it's either Sonic and friends in human world or Eggman in furry land. In the comics it's seems fairly balanced somewhat.
Eggman is essentially a combination of all the previous Eggmen being kinda goofy at times, but also being intimidating and ruthless (some examples I want to use so bad but would be too spoilery)

They have characters from all over Sonic stuff in general like Breezy, Honey, Prof. Von Schlemmer, and characters from the Tail's games on the Game Gear.

They gave Silver character, plot, and even a setting that isn't a city on fire.
Characters that people don't really care that much for, like Rouge and Omega, are written well IMO.

And the OC's are actually well done IMO

who is this Honey? she's a cute
latest
Honey the Cat was originally designed after this character from Fighting Vipers, which ran on the engine that Sonic the Fighters. They designed Honey the Cat off of Honey, but scraped her in the final game with her files still intact. People found them made her playable and she got a bit of a small cult following, even if she was a bit buggy(mostly graphical). Then the 2012 PSN XBL release of Sonic the Fighters officially made her playable as a hidden and working character in the game.

In the comics, she is like her original human counterpart, she's a fashion designer superstar that enters a fighting tournament for publicity.

I wonder if the Insta-Shield and Super Peel Out will be in Sonic Mania. Neither move was in the Comic Con demo, but Studiopolis Zone also didn't have a midboss while Green Hill Zone clearly did. There was also an unusable Special Stage ring from Sonic 3&K that was found in Green Hill. Maybe other things are waiting in the wings because they're unfinished.

The Super Peel Out animation is reused for when Sonic reaches max speed (there's a super cool 'shadow' effect added as well). The Peel Out move is redundant since you have Spin Dash and Drop Dash.
The Drop Dash appears to be replacing the Insta-Shield. I believe the Drop Dash will have much more utility than the Insta-Shield.

Unless I press double jump by accident and go divebombing straight down into a pit. which worries me.

Just stumbled upon this thread. Honestly these you tubers share exactly how I feel about the sonic franchise.
Favorite quote from them: James: remember kids sonics words "gotta go fast kids! But not too fast."
Bruce He would never say that!

I always preferred Sonic's ∞ run cycle over the standard Wheel 'o Feet run
Personally I never used the Insta-shield much, so if drop dash replaces that I'd be fine. Though I don't see them sacrificing the drop dash for shield power use so I'm going to hazard a guess and say it's gonna be a separate button or button command.

Also fun fact, Sonic as never 'officially' said "Gotta Go Fast". Though he as 'officially' said it once in the Sonic Boom comic if you want to take that with a grain of salt.

when ur "fast" can last

You have to hold down the jump button and it doesn't change your jump trajectory and it only activates when you touch the floor.

Also, if I may, bring into light one of my newest favorite youtubers who analyses characters, so far mostly SEGA characters, and does so in extreme detail. From appearance, importance in story, personality, ect. and trying to do so objectively, but also not afraid to state his opinion. So far he has tackled a hand full of sonic characters, but only SA's side characters like Knuk's Amy, and Big.

Oh ho, Triple (post) Trouble.

A new video was posted showing a new level and Tails and Knux in action.
;_; the animations. Also more Team Hooligan references <3 and I never noticed that Hornet TV vans make the Sonic Spinball sound effects :D.

Also the current ark of the comics have ended and I, again, recommend reading it. The new ark that ditches the old continuum starts at comic #252, though I do recommend reading the Mega Man comic crossover (though you'd need to alternate between the Sonic and Megaman comics to get the whole story). Like the comics are probably the best writing sonic has ever seen and represent the characters in the best light.

It's obvious, really

CwCVy5MVYAAKdd0.jpg

But really. Boom Sonic. What does Boom Sonic offer.

Classic Sonic offers 2D side-scrolling spindashing fun
Modern Sonic has high speed boost-to-win thrills.
Boom Sonic has clunky, slow, generic PS2 3D platformer? And unfunny dialogue?
