Filia Burst Baits

they can just hold up out of this, so I wouldn't call it a 50/50

I usually just press buttons in the air and try to guess with a backdash when they're going to burst.

It's at the very least nested 50/50s - 50/50 between push button and not push button for burst bait, and then if you're certain they're going to not push button you can do low-high to beat upback/downback respectively.

I'm almost sure I posted this somewhere else but here it is again

I also do this one fairly often because it lets me actually go through with the reset if they are mashing or not.

Good stuff but not a 50/50 this is a 33/33/33 (jump, buttons or block low) that is highly in filias favor since burst hit still leaves the opponent in the corner. Corner is what makes this good (not necessarily better) beyond the average midscreen burst setup.

A good midscreen burst setup that is a true 50/50 is folks old setup:

(J.hp causes burst state)

Cr.mp, j.hp xx airdash back (the burst bait)
Cr.mp, j.hp xx airdash forward airthrow (airthrow forces buttons via tech or super to get out of) since dash is already used then an assist or airball or gregor is needed to convert.

@RemiKz posted video is gimmicks/read. Though it could be awesome if he instead did airthrow off of the cr.lk,st.hp otg and mixed up with the bait.

REALLY awesome.

-edit

Also... Filia so stoopid.

Not sure what you mean by gimmick, they are no less gimmicky than the one you mentioned. In the first video, you can totally replace the airdash j.LK that triggers the burst with an air grab instead.

The second one is really useful because even if they don't burst, you aren't letting up your offense with the typical backdash burst baits. Burst baits are essentially resets, and this leads directly into another one even if the original one wasn't successful. With that being said, you can definitely do other stuff with it. I can go for an air throw instead, I can do a j.LK without an airdash and actually land behind the opponent at the last moment, and a bunch of other crap.

Burst bait/Air throw(also high-low-left-right) that goes into Burst bait/air throw(also high-low-left-right) but not into itself. For best results, use @RemiKz' IAD j.LP burst bait on the second reset point, I just didn't do that here because I'm lazy.

This doesn't work on Peacock, Bella, or Double and I can't think of any equivalent setup that would. Help pls. Winnie pls. Remikz pls.

Couple notes, it's a bit pedantic on squiggly, you need to do air throw ASAP on painwheel, and for best result on the second

So is this thread still relavent? I have a few baits I can share if it is :)

OK word so here are some of the ones I've been working on (no video footage so use your imagination)

1. works midscreen: any starter, any air chain, cr.lk, s.mk, s.hp, any air chain that ends with H airball, dash forward, s.lk, s.hk, xx, hp updo, xx, gregor (this one is really weird and it's a very hard read but it's god like)
2. midscreen: any starter, j.hp, ADC, j.lk, j.hk, cr.lk, s.hp, j.lk, back dash (very simple and probably already known)
3. midscreen: cr.lk, cr.mk, s.hp, j.hk, adc, j.lk, j.mp, j.hk, cr.lk, cr.mp, s.mk, cr.hp, dash forward, cr.lk, s.hk, ringlet psyche (works on any character that can be juggled with cr.mp, s.mk)

blablabla s.HP
j.HK adc j.LK j.HP j.HK
OTG s.HP TK H Airball adc s.MK s.HP
j.MP (4 hits) j.MK (2 hits) adc j.MP

On the lighter characters and Parasoul (I'm going to update this soonTM with a list of all the characters) all five hits of the second j.MP are fully safe burst baits. On characters like Cerebella, BB, Eliza, Double only the last hit is a burst bait (again, I'll update this soonTM with a full tested list of characters). The j.MP has to be done immediately out of launch to be low enough so that all hits of j.MP is a burst bait on lighter characters.

Do note that this does fill up undizzy.

this is something I've been using for a little while, it's similar to some stuff that people have done but I like this one because you can vary the number of hits easily depending on if you think they're mashing or you actually want to bait a burst

I was gonna post this after combo breaker but I forgot. It's good that I did forget though because now (with hornet bomber) I have a practical way to trigger the burst via IPS when previously I could only do it via undizzy. (Practical in that not only is it a reasonable scenario to run into in a match, but it's not like a combo specifically designed to go for this bait so it's not so obvious that it's coming.) It's nice because it's an anti-mash burst bait that's not obviously anti-mash so people might actually try to burst out of it because they think you made a mistake, and if they don't burst you get oki. The biggest downside is that the only followup I've been able to do starts with j.mp jump-in which scales the combo to hell. (It's probably worth noting that while this of course will only work off an otg s.HP, it'll work off any s.HP otg, e.g. ground chain into j.hp adc j.lk j.hk s.HP will work just as well. Useful for characters where the j.hk adc j.lk j.hp j.hk isn't as reliable)

(Also for some reason I thought it wasn't universal before, I tested it on everyone and it is universal.)

this seems like something that might be known already but I haven't seen any posts about it so here goes

I did it accidentally last night at Skullbats and figured it was bella specific but nope it works on everyone but big band

squigly (and I think filia/fukua?) you can't just TK the airball you have to do the jump then instantly airball thing so you're a bit higher off the ground, otherwise the airball will whiff

as you may have guessed the burst will not whiff if they do not burst on the first hit (to be fair I only tested the burst after multiple hits on a handful of people but I'm gonna be lazy and assume it's first-hit only on everyone)

I have a similar one to that in the corner. It's good cause as long as they burst on either of the first 3 hits it works and it's at full undizzy so it's basically a TOD on 3v3
