Fortune Technology: Resets, Mixups, etc.

Just a little thing i've been doing lately: ending a combo with c.hk xx fiber(mostly mk but you can vary versions and timing to make it more ambiguous), it's an oki-ish setup that can give you a very fast high/low but the opponent must tech back.

Newb question: What's a "reset"?

Only works on the three shown in the video. (I think, didn't test all that much)

And you have to crouch for a bit.

I dunno if this thing is known
Can't recall having seen anyone do it, but I'm bad at looking for things like that

It may or may not be Squigly specific, I just did it by accident while trying to find a combo I like; am too lazy to test

You can tech the j.hk tho? This might be useful for one of the headless mix ups where she can hit the headbutt before they reach the ground.

Well the computer keeps teching it so I don't know what you are talking about.

Wait I think I know whats going on, raw j.hk can be teched but if you cancel into it from a chain you can get an otg. Which is weird.

So it turns out doing a fast fall from mk fiber height makes it really easy to do one of those air ground dashes. It's also a cross under, and it gives them a bit of time to see the "air dash" and respond. Of course it can also be a real air dash. And its funny because its completely unreactable unless you are really good at differentiating a few pixels of height during the heat of battle.

Was fortune supposed to have high low mix ups like this?

Weeeee

^
edit: I want to call it an ADGC: Air Dash Ground normal Cancel. But no one other than me seems to care about it.

edit2: that mix up only works on painwheel's really low standing collision box, but the general principle is always the same. It just doesn't cross up vs any other character in this particular way.

edit3: the jist of it is that it is a ground dash with every ground dash property other than the animation and the hurt box. You can get grabbed out of it, you can't get air grabbed out of it, lows whiff, you can cancel it into any ground normal or grab.

edit4: Oh, the one other weird thing is you can't cancel it by crouching. No wave dashing 4 u.

I posted this a while back. Really no good reason to not use ADGC resets that I'm aware of, but I'm not up to date with Fortune.

I think its mostly because the difficulty of getting it to work outside of a set up is way too high, and no one has really shown the versatility of set ups that it can work with. Also even if you can't reliably do it whenever you want as long as you option select a second light kick it will come out as j.lk, cr.lk if you dash too early and if you do it right the second cr. wouldn't come out.

EDIT: Only works on Filia. Remind me not to post stuff at 3am

So the other day I did a little combo thing for kicking the head around:

It made me realise that kicking Fortune's head around is fun so I was playing around a little today and found this neat reset:

The position of the head isn't too important; I think all that needs to happen is that you have to very close to your opponent and hit the head with Rekka Your Shins at the same time as them.

Crossunder:

Launch > l.Fibre Upper will put you near to the rear bottom of your opponent. dash accordingly.

Launch > jump > dash will also put you to the rear bottom.

Restand:

l.Fibre Upper > j.HP > dash > j.LP > air l. el gato

I did something.

Just a few notes the cr.lk on the first part is VERY punishable the rest of it is not and that's why there's the alternative which is safe (although I'm not sure if you can still do the cr.mp s.mk follow up because I'm bad at this game) so you have to decide for yourself whether someone is mashing or not otherwise you're in trouble. So does that make it a reliable bait? I dunno.

gonna get this down somewhere so i dont forget it as i always do

after a cr.HP , j.MP-MK (one hit) j.HP (should whiff for fast fall) and then you can air dash under them and either throw them from the other side or hit them low to the ground with another j.HP, which you can then link into cr.LK-HP.

in fact j.HK works too for the crossup. do it low to the ground as you can.

you can mix this up with all the other fast fall stuff from j.MK.

After a restand you can do instant 7LK for a burstbait. If they burst you can airdash j.hp/hk for a counterhit combo. If they don't burst you can call assist or head slide and airdash back in.

Headroll xx super has enough invincibility frames/ pulls her hurtbox back far enough to go through a burst, if anyone cares to try it out.

I dunno if this has been done before, sorry if it has.

Probably known already, but if you like playing both fukua and fortune, h drillationship lets you convert off of fortune's throws the same way cerecopter does. Except it also restands so you can choose between continuing the combo or just doing a mixup instead

I play Fortune/Fukua/Cerebella :D

Dunno if it's already known but you can do the L.Fiber,j.MP,j.HP thing headless with j.LP,j.MP on Peacock at least.

Yeah CaioLugon I'll end up like that too I guess (And then I can run H LnL again <3).

It's really simple but after cat scrath fever mid screen you can run towards the opponent jump and back dash in the air for a cross up mix up but if you add one assist( I use HP tear shot) you can make it more ambiguous and even do the assist earlier so it is a fake meaty and you can go low when they expect to block the cross up high. j.lk is also good to fake a hit or even make them block but with a low hitstun

Head on Fortune has a burst bait that beats mashing/specific scenarios that I will explain later:

(normal that triggers burst) s.hp (kara) headroll

The invincibility goes through the burst and if it doesn't you can cancel into super right before the iframes are done. It's a really really good trick for when you have your opponent tunnel visioned on bursting the next hit. It has a GREAT shenanigans quality because no one will ever expect you to do it because no one thinks that fortune is gonna use headroll like this. The combo I used it in was [shit], lvl 3 in the corner (full undizzy), cr.lp, s.hp(kara) xx headroll. Against filia the burst whiffed and I got a CH with the head roll but it didn't stagger because they are in the air. Still, you can reaction super if you need to and that's an extra few thousand on top of the combo you just did. (Don't ask me why you kara the s.hp its just more consistent).

I don't think the second one works on parasoul or the heavyweights, I haven't tried in like 2 months but I'm pretty sure you have to use mk fiber to keep them high enough.

The only character the 5HK crossunder doesn't work on is Big Band. It also looks faster on heavyweights too.

Double and Big Band don't like this they're too big or something they'd need a special timing for it to work but hey this time both hits are safe if done right.

EDIT: I neglected to mention this works in the corner too.

Prolly shoulda added a part where you see me doing part 1 bait and ending with j.hk anyway because that IS safe you don't need to guess like my other bait.

This is mad dumb. I like it.

Because of this I found a way to reset after this quite ridiculous, just do cr.HP, and then ASAP j.LP MP MK HP (1 Hit Mk just mash everything ASAP) you'll fall like a stone and can setup a cross under from there, the bonus being the burst bait that keep them afraid.

You can do things by canceling HP with qcb.MK too.

You can be at both sides, and even use the thingie air dash to ground normal if you time it right.

that's been done......i got a crossup secret tech i'm sure fortune players would like......

if you guys have youtube accounts msg me the name so that i can share the vid to the people that msg'd me cause i will label that one private

Either you're willing to share with everyone = Post
Or you're only willing to share with people who you think 'deserve it' (by whatever measure), then PM it to them.

"Anyone can PM me and you will get it" is just "Give me attention pls I want some Alerts"~

Owell carry on
