Is it okay to be unable to get into guilty gear xrd revelator because one can't stand the japanese voice acting?
Can we still be friends?

I can't get into it out of petty anger directed at it because I blame it for Blazblue not having a dub in Central Fiction, so there are worse reasons.

Couldn't you turn the voice volume slider to zero?

Voice cues are important for reaction in fighting games

(I'm serious)

That... depends on how you play, and there are other sfx for everything that has voice audio.

As to the original question: ಠ_ಠ

Aye, but I've found, especially with online play, audio's unreliable. Turning down the tracks can make a different, more focused experience.

The Prey demo was pretty decent.

In a year with two Yakuza releases, a numbered Resident Evil, a Guilty Gear revision, a collaboration between Yoko Taro and Platinum games, Nioh, a numbered Persona and whatever I've forgotten to mention or haven't gotten around to if you told me Bethesda was going to publish what is easily one of the better games this year I would have laughed in your face, but god damn Prey is pretty good and I am shocked I've seen like one ad for it since it was announced and barely anyone talking about it on the internet. Hands down some of the best level design of the past decade.

Highly recommended to anyone who liked System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Thief 2, etc. Not saying it's necessarily on that level, but it does a good job of filling the void left by the lack of those type of games these past years.
Too bad about that ending. At least they did some neat stuff with it I guess.

Harada said Japanese gaming industry is dead.

I've heard that before

That's not good to hear still. Any reason why he thinks that?

we're losing to the westerns
I can't imagine how he's come to that conclusion, especially given this entire year thus far.

I don't really care about the whole Eastern games vs. Western games thing, I just want good video games, but off the top of my head the only standout western titles in recent memory are Prey (just released) and Furi which was a tiny indie game. In the west we've had a minimum of one great Japanese title every month this year.

I'm sure someone can list some good recent western releases that I have forgotten, as I'm sure there must be some, but I think my overall point stands.

These debates tend to be a bit more complex then any one person's preferences or perspective on the medium. Dedicated industry insight and study is probably necessary to understand the big picture.

Of course, but even eliminating my taste from the discussion this year has been pretty stacked for high profile Japanese releases, and not so much in terms of western. Not that there haven't been any, of course, I'm just saying I think the numbers lean more one way than the other. Though some of the Japanese releases in the west are late.

We're talking about Inafune, the guy that revealed himself to be nothing but a businessman.

On another note, I'm not a great follower of E3 but pls From gib Bloodborne 2. And make Bloodtinge a serious stat instead of a niche thing like in BB1.

Oh fuck that. I'm sorry but as cool as the Souls series/Bloodborne games are, I just want more giant robots.

Bring back Armored Core with a vengeance please.

Meet in the middle and make Bloodborne 2 about fighting robots

As much as I agree From needs to make some robot games again, I'd take a sequel to Bloodborne over anything else if it was as good as Bloodborne.

If anyone cares Alan Wake will be on sale for 90% off starting on the 13th because it's being delisted on the 16th.

Bullshit and the joke is getting stale.

He tried to work in a medium and with tools Comcept barely knew and got bit in the ass by that. That doesn't erases all the mega man games, resident evil 4, the onimusha series, Dead Rising, Asura's Wrath, Dragon's Dogma, etc.

The truth of Inafune's accomplishments are probably somewhere in the middle between the overestimation of his importance by fans and the recent underestimation of it due to Comcepts recent blunders.

On one hand, he did not create Mega Man. The Character design, aesthetic, themes, and game design which set the first two games above their peers was the work of Akira Kimatura.

On the other hand, he was an important figure in the franchise's development and his management of key titles is probably a massive factor in keeping the series alive.

In other words, it's important to remember these games are group efforts, but Keiji is definitely a talented and experienced individual who's contributions to the Mega Man franchise (and others) shouldn't be forgotten.

If anything, I have more animosity towards the man for wanting to make X the villain of the Mega Man Zero series because "there are no absolutes". That would have been fucking stupid and a slap in the face towards fans of the series over a half baked thematic concept. Thank goodness Capcom shot that idea down and compromised it with Copy X.

Perhaps if the X series had ended after 2 or at the most 3 games, the idea could have been salvageable, but after 8 games drilling X's incorruptibility and purity into our brains, there's no way that such a radical transition could have felt organic or believable in such a story brief series. That ship sailed, simply put.

I hope Shinji Mikami's Severed Head is doing okay out there in this wild world we have right now

Also, to further the point, are we really still crediting game development to singular names? (Outside of when that actually happens, which is not true in any of these cases).

Better than Evil Within.
But not better than God Hand and Vanquish.

A new Thief and a tie-in "epic-action movie" are being talked about.

I can't wait to forget this ever happened like Thi4f and the Hitman films.
Game Informer has already commenting on this, saying Thi4f was bad because it adhered to closely to the roots of the series, because you know, that's totally what the problem was.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 was announced, full trailer in a week, but it shows off Baby Groot, as well as Doctor Strange.
So it'll probably have some MCU-isms to it.

I hope it has assists unlike a certain other Marvel game tsk tsk tsk
