If you could create your dream game how would you want it to be? Genre, Mechanics, ect?

If I could create my dream game it would be a 2D anime style fighting game kind of like Persona 4 Arena(just without the auto combos) with ALL my insane characters in my notebook. I would have the game be a six button fighter because I'm more comfortable with that. Each character would have a CRAZY storymode with the end boss being a overgrown werewolf named Scar with scars all over his body(Scar sounds like a werewolf name).

Each character will have 2 different super specials. One of the specials will have an easy input, but won't do a lot of damage while the other special will have extremely difficult inputs and will do more damage. The specials are like this to prevent people from spamming their specials the whole game and because I want the game to be combo heavy(combos look better than specials IMO, but specials are still cool don't get me wrong).

I would like to have an online mode for the game. There would be ranks(with creative names) based on your skill and how many wins you have, I also want to have a beginners room for players who aren't high ranked or aren't to good at fighting games, but still want to enjoy some online. For the competitive players that are high ranked there will also be a room for them to. Also there would be lobbies and ranked, but if you rage quit out of the rank matches you will lose XP. The more times you leave ranked the more XP will be taken away. Also lobbies will have a MAX of 7 people.

These are just some of the characters that are in my notebook that would be in the game.
Scarlett - She has a pet cat that can turn into a Scythe
Raze - Vampire Bounty Hunter
Alex - Time Traveling Assassin
Sophia - A Robot Maid who's only goal is to destroy ALL humankind.
Kara - A Bodacious Female Samurai who uses various experiments to keep her young(FOREVER).

I may post more later. So how would YOUR dream game be?

Edit: Also please no hating other people's ideas. I believe we all have great creative ideas.

Hey, OP. If you have that game of your dreams, living a slumbering life in your notebooks - why don't you just go for it?

As for me, I'm working on-and-off (mostly off) on an hex-based, lowish-fantasy SRPG with emphasis on the S, one that gives you a loose plotline but mostly just with emphasis on polish and world setting. A laid-back game that you can explore on your own pace... should it ever become finished.

I would like...

A full length linear action adventure game with action sequences that alternate between all the best 2d genres (shmup, action platformer, metroidvania, etc.) while executing them with the best design of their respective sub genres. Each section of the game should be dauntingly hard, but it should have a quirky story and world that compels you forward. Aesthetically, I would like to see sprite art on par with (and having as much personality as) Metal Slug.

So basically, imagine Odin Sphere. Now take out all the repetitiveness and replace it with some of the best level designs from a variety of games and game genres. Keep the crushing difficulty in tact (assuming you played through the game without grinding like I did) along with the charming story and world.

I would create a platformer game, something like Super Meat Boy. Or I would like to make Altered Beast HD version with hand drawn graphics and all that fun stuff.

I would like to in the future, but because of college and other stuff I don't have the time. But maybe one day I'll be able to make it.

1. Open-world action-adventure RPG

2. Exclusively female cast of sexy busty babes

3. Dating simulator elements so you can get with the hot chicks

4. Giant world to explore with tons of collectibles and side-activities

5. You can play the game any way you want; use brute force, use stealth, use diplomacy - basically, there are a dozen different ways to overcome every enemy and obstacle. You could beat the game without hitting a single enemy, without getting spotted once, or without spending a single coin, depending on how you want to play.

So, Skyrim with more variety and an "every NPC is a hot female" mod, I guess.

cat girls

a lot of cat girls

all types of cat girls

i am a man of simple dreams

and they're all about cat girls

Most over-the-top action game ever with good graphics.

You fucking liar.

I've had a story i've been writing...on the backburner since like 2002, during my High School days. Would love to turn it into a game franchise. Probably focus on a PSO/Borderlands (...kinda like Destiny actually, just not FPS but Action/Brawler/Third Person Shooter RPG) style game.

Feature an up to One/Two Player Co-Op(not forced), Episode driven, Camapign mode with...damn near endless DLC possibilities(released as full seasons, like a TV show).

A separate game mode(up to 5 player parties) featuring a metric ton of MMO elements(make your own character, level up, skills, gangs...guilds, lol.) with action gameplay elements. Raids would be boss fights that players in the campaign would be facing at that exact moment (so yeah, some guys are co-oping and BOOM a full scale assault is there to assist them for the boss fights) Dueling will be present in this mode however, I'd be featuring....

A 5v5, arena style PvP. Levels wouldn't mater here(FOR BALANCE!) and would be skill based(how well you do would earn you exp and ultra rare loot). Your character's avatar would be used here, but pre-set classes would be up for this mode...Lets say in the MMO you are a Gunslinger but in PvP you want to roll a Swordsman. Just choose it. and Go. This mode would feature much more of FPS gametype modes. Bomb (1 Attack, 1 Defend), Capture The Flag (Both Attack and Defense at the same time), Team Deathmatch(yep), Control Points(Neutral Points). As well as 5 player non-team modes...like Free For All, King of The Hill(damnit, Bobby!), and Free Flags (One Neutral Flag spawns and once picked up, players must take it to a randomly set marker on the map so score a point for them selves. If flag is dropped, it resets to original location after 5 seconds of no one else touching it) Each game mode will have 3-4 maps made specifically for it.(so no goddamn retarded BS mode with stupid maps)

Controls and Gameplay would function the same, all across the board. Think...Devil May Cry meets Gears of War with tons of movement ability(double jumping, wall jumping, wall running, various acrobatic techniques. cover system(including Gears famous wall bounce, as an actual technique)bound to mostly a single button/key and an over the shoulder cam. The World itself is a post-modern ish futuristic one. Most "class" archetypes have some kind of future variant with branching paths for the MMO side(Gunslinger can go Dual Wielding or Huge Weapons or Sniper...for example) Quick Scope a flag carrier across the map while falling, spinning in the air, upside down just to grab on to a flag pole and slide your way down to the streets.

I would offer the PvP(as well as future content for it) for free. And the Seasons + MMO(expansions) as combo bundles. for $20 a piece.

Someone hire me. We can make beautiful games and marvelous money together :O

Edit: OH ART STYLE! Dark, Gritty, Anime, Cel Shaded. My script alone would definitely rate it an M. So hide yo kids!

Right now there's the game I'm currently working on, a metroidvainia type game with a few shump parts and a black comedy story. I have the basics of it working, but I'd rather have something other than a red square as the main character. The other game I'd consider my dream game would be a fighting game based on the characters from a visual novel I was working on, but put on hitaus to work on the game I mentioned above. The entire story was about high speed decision making (think JJBA) and that's basically what a fighting game is.

I have a bunch of game ideas that I'd like to see made. Among them are:

-Viewtiful Joe inspired action platformer
-Einhander inspired scrolling shooter
-Dark Souls inspired Metroidvania
-Dr. Mario/Tetris Attack inspired puzzle game
-Homestuck/Earthbound/Chrono Trigger inspired RPG

The first two I really want made because I'm a bit sore that no one is making a new Einhander or Viewtiful Joe game.

It'd be Skullgirls. Except with Annie in it.

My ideas for video games are a fighting game inspired by Skullgirls, a cute platformer, & another game design, which maybe a massive open-world RPG.
I should possibly post them some time :)

Somebody actually was making a spiritual sequel to Einhander, called Heaven's Variant. It looked promising, but was cancelled.

I do think Einhander has a lot of untapped ideas in the genre. Besides just the weapon stealing, I liked the way the bosses had all these quick attacks that they could whip out at any moment, instead of the usual static pattern cycles.

Also about Dark Souls Metroidvania, you might wanna check out this:

I know about Heaven Variant and Ghost Song. Heaven Variant looked fucking sick. I'm so sad it was cancelled.

The closest consolation I can offer for Heaven Variant is Ether Vapor Remaster on Steam/Desura. It doesn't have weapon stealing, but it has a similar feel in the boss fights imo.

As a teenager, I really wanted to make a version of Urban Assault, except with the RTS-like elements actually working properly and the movement AI not terrible. TBH I'm not sure how that would work without taking away the focus on the action, but meh.

You know, I had played the demo Einhander when I was young, and loved it, been looking for it ever since, now that I know what it is I'm going to find it, and even if I have to drive from Georgia to Kentucky I'm getting my PS1.

A true Mana sequel in the veins of SoM and SD3 and what made those games great.

Also turning a few of my rpg maker games into a reality and some other worlds/scenarios I made when I played gurps with friends some 10 years ago.

OK so I didn't even give a real answer to this thread, I just posted the logo for Destiny. So I'm going to elaborate a bit on that. I can't really describe the game of my dreams when it already exists, so I'll just describe the game Destiny and why I believe it will be the game of my dreams.

Destiny fulfills everything that I want in a game right now.

Destiny is being developed by Bungie, the makers of Halo, my favorite FPS series. So that already makes me excited.
It's a Massivley Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter. I always loved MMO's because they're the only genre where I felt like I was actually interacting with other people. I always loved FPS's because they're the only genre where I felt like I was actually in the game. When you combine the two you get MMOFPS's but most of those are just generic Brown Shooters where the extent of the player interaction are some game lobbies and a small multiplayer map.
I always wanted an Open World Shooter, like Borderlnds, Firefall, or Fallout. But most OPS's aren't multiplayer and the ones that are just don't match up to what I want. Destiny will be an OPS, that means that the in game universe is a fixed location to explore, and what a universe it is. You're not limited to a single place, the entire solar system is just waiting for the player. Massive sprawling cities on Earth, impossible constructs on a terraformed Venus, mile long ships just floating in space. Say goodbye to the shanty towns of brown shooters, cosmic adventures await.
The best part of it is, all of it is Beautiful.

As you may have noticed there's a lot going on with outer space, so let's talk about creative genres.
Let's be real, most MMO's are of the Fantasy genre. You all know what that entails, Magic, Knights, Dragons, Elves, etc. Most FPS's are "Modern" as in they take place in the present day. Normal places, normal guns, normal people. Well Bungie knows how to do Scifi, which you all know is defined by Aliens, Robots, and Outer Space. In Destiny Bungie decided to bring all these genres together and create something truly creative.
One of the things Bungie did was take the 3 classic Fantasy classes and build upon it. The Rouge, The Wizard, and The Warrior in Destiny are The Hunter, The Warlock, and The Titan, respectively. All of them use guns but they all have different traits that set them apart from each other. There are even different races to choose from, races akin to angels and demons. Character customization is very heavy in Destiny, and I always love that in a game.
The equipment stays Modern looking, with a Scifi twist. The guns don't look like classic plasma shooters, they look like very stylish and colorful renditions of modern day weaponry, But there are still those classic future weapons that shoot plasma bombs, lightning, etc. All in all the combination of many different archetypes and genre elements is turning Destiny into a game I could play forever.

Now I should probably talk about Combat now.
As you know the Halo series was my favorite FPS series, even though I only played Halo 3 and Halo Reach. One of the main reasons for this was the Combat. I've payed a lot of Call of Duty games and while they were fun the Combat was sub par. Online I would get my ass handed to me all the time by people all using the same gun, with the same attachments, with the same perks. Call of Duty multiplayer is all about using the most realistically effective combination of equipment and spamming it to rack up points. Confrontations with enemies felt less like Fighting and more like surviving or slaughtering, depending on who the victor is. I HATED that.
Halo felt REAL, encountering an opponent on the map was always an exhilarating and unpredictable experience. The outcome of a battle was never certain, no matter how well equipped either side was. There was equal emphasis on every aspect of battle in that game whether it be melee, long range combat, explosives, heavy machinery, vehicles, ariel combat, etc. There was never a surefire way to win, it all depended on your skill at the game and your mindset.
This how fighting is in real life, this is how it should be.
I see Bungie will master this in Destiny.

I've always treated Skull Heart as my Home Base on the internet. It's here where I have friends and a reputation. I've always wanted a game that's the same way. A game where I could turn on my game system and always find something to do and people to talk to. A game that could last for a very long time. I believe that Destiny will be my Home Base game for the PlayStation 4, in the same way that SkullHeart is my Home Base for the internet.

Also, shout outs to The Wulf Pack, I hope we can spread to the PS4 when the game releases.

How can a video game trailer embody so much of our philosophy in 90 seconds?

DESTINY MEGA POST

If you haven't. You should make the Destiny thread on here. I too, am extremely excited for it...like. Most anticipated game for next gen. I'll probably "double dip"(buying the same game twice on different platforms, for those who don't know that term) the game, as I am getting an Xbox One. But probably by the time Destiny comes out, I'll probably also have a PS4(it is inevitable, lol) . Even though its the "same game" the experiences with other people will be nothing alike.

Out of all my friends, I'm probably the most excited about it. This makes me sad.

I already got a logo

As I said in the Crowdfunding thread, a crossover racing game featuring characters and locations from several indie/crowdfunded games. Of course Peacock would be in there with her Swag Wagon.

Alternate idea: A game like The Sims, but with supernatural creatures. The Sims 3 did have a Supernatural expansion, but I'd make the whole game like that.

An RPG penned by the Persona 3 and 4 writers, including the story and the "social link" substitute.

Battle system, overworld and skits of the "Tales of" series.

The Music composer(s) from Xenoblade Chronicles

And graphics the like of FF13 or FF14.

It's a big dream.

A big beautiful dream

I'd want a game with Devil May Cry combat style, open world Skyrim/Gothic style, character customisation Dark Souls style and boss battles God of War 2 style. :D

A cyberpunk rpg a la Sega Shadowrun with a much more fleshed out hacking portion.

I definitely want to talk about Destiny in The Wulf Den but I'm hesitant to make an actual thread for it.
I don't want to make a thread that no one is going to use.

Also same here, it's my most anticipated game period.

Dream Game?

Mega Man series remade with deeper and darker plot, handled by inticreates.

Either Megaman Legends 3 or MK vs DC vs Marvel X Street Fighter.

An actually good sequel to this sweet game right here:
