Introduce Yourself!

I'm bad at making posts on new forums (been staring at this blank reply field for an hour), and I will probably go back to lurking around here once every blue moon after this, so you can probably just ignore me. But, uh. Hi.

Squigley is adorable and Peacock is hilarious, so they're my team. It's just the two because keeping track of more than one person to switch to is beyond me at present. (Also because the 3rd spot is reserved for my true main. But mainly because the first reason.)

I also like a fair few other fighting games, but I don't know if you want to read a list? I'm not very good at most of them, anyway.

I would say I'll maybe see you in a Beginner's lobby later, but my internet connection is decidedly Sub Optimal and I am so utterly terrible at the game. Um. And other reasons. I mean I know getting better involves being bad to start, but...o-other reasons.

Thank you to people for working so hard on the game, thank you to people for reading this, and...yeah. I'll just, uh. (I'll stop being a bother now, sorry.)

Hey! My name is kudaytaa and I'm a relatively new fighting game player from Las Vegas. I have only had experience playing sf4/5 at a competitive level and would like to try and expand my horizon as far as fighting games go! Skullgirls looked like the perfect game to try and learn.
It's a very beautiful game aesthetically and I really like where it's at in the form of a tournament setting!
Right now I'm Rollin with valentine, big band, and not sure who my anchor will be. Im trying to decide between filia and double.
Thank you for reading! I can't wait to see where my practice in this game takes me!

'16er here. Got into the fighting game genre a whopping six months ago. Started on 3rd Strike, tiptoe'd through marvel2, took ultra4 seriously, copped Tekken Tag2 for free(xbl gold,) and purchased SG this weekend.

I'm incredibly late to the party and from what I've seen, 4/5 people use steam. But if you're into cyber-bullying, you can harass me at [my handle] on Xbox Live.

Does anybody even play on xbl? Ugh.

(First of all, I want to say that my english may be bad, sorry XP)

Hey guys 'n' gals !

I'm OrageSpark, a French fourteen years old boy who likes to play fighting games such as Super Street Fighter 2X, Killer Instinct 2 (I'm very bad XP), Street Fighter 3 : 3rd Strike, Fatal Fury Special, GAROU Mark of the Wolves, Street Fighter Alpha 3, KOF '98 UM... and of course Skullgirls, which is my favourite fighting game so far !

I own two main teams :
- Filia, Ms. Fortune and Squigly
- Peacock, Big Band and Eliza

I would say that I'm an intermediate player, but I mostly lose online matches XP

I use a Qanba Q1 arcade stick, but I would like to try the fightpad someday !

Due to my young age, I don't participate at events such as tournaments, but I train very hard so I can try to participate someday !

I play Skullgirls on Steam, but I also play retro games on Fightcade !

I own a PS4, an X360, a Wii, a Wii U, a Mega Drive / Genesis, an SNES, a DS Lite (to play GBA games), a 3DSXL, a PS2, a Dreamcast...
As you can see, I love retrogaming and I buy a lot of games on eBay...

I also own a DeviantArt (http://oragespark.deviantart.com/) and a FurAffinity (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/oragespark-the-otaku/) accounts, 'cause I like to draw random furry stuff...

I listen to pop rock and metal band. (no one cares about this XD)

My favorite games are :

- Sonic CD
- Skullgirls 2nd Encore (thx Captain Obvious)
- GAROU Mark of the Wolves
- Dust : an Elysian Tail
- Castlevania : Aria of Sorrow
- Undertale
- Final Fantasy VI
- Street Fighter Zero 3
- Star Fox Adventures
- Akumajo Dracula X : Chi no Rondo

I play the guitar, both acoustic and electric.

Well, I think I said enough about me, don't hesitate to add me on PS+ and Steam !

Unfortunately, due to the recent PS4 port and to the low prices on Steam, there aren't a lot of players on Xbox Live...

Hello everyone my name is PsychoNUT23 I have loved fighting games for years but never really put much effort into learning how to get better at them. I got into Skullgirls almost entirely just on the visual look of the characters. I Have been playing for about 20 hours now and have picked Filia to be my main. I love this website and all the resources it has it's made progressing much easier.

Hi, I like to go by the name Blue. I consider myself a beginner in fighting games. I currently play SFV, SSB4 and P4U2. I was watching some tournaments and SG started to appeal to my interest. I am from So Cal and hope to start playing and learning this game.

Hello, I'm BlueZed-

I'm extremely new to fighting games, having only really played SSF4, MK9 and recently Skullgirls, with Skullgirls being my absolute favorite.
I found SG at a convention, and after watching a few matches, obtained a vested interest. After buying and playing the game, I found Cerebella, Ms. Fortune and Eliza to be my favorites.

I'm really excited to keep learning this game, and to maybe start being able to enter tournaments in time.

Send me a friend request on Steam @BlueZed , if you want someone to play a few matches with!

Nice to see Ms. Fortune + Cerebella fans here! They're my mains too. (Even though canonically they couldn't hate each other more in the story, haha.)

Hello everybody! I'm Sugar Dots, and I really like indie games in general and the occasional shooter. Previously played Soul Caliber, various Mortal Kombats, and Street Fighter before I found my way to SkullGirls. (And I have to say I enjoy SkullGirls the best out of all of them!)

I love traditional animation just as much, so SkullGirls was an instant sale for me! Bought up all the DLC, gifted the game to a couple of people on Steam, and already have 56 hours clocked into it. It's so much fun playing through the stories, discovering how much attention to detail the devs put into the game, and adoring the art. LabZero's work is gorgeous and I can't wait to see what they do with Indivisible!

As for how well I play, I'm still an intermediate at this game. Thanks to the super helpful in-game tutorials, I went from beating Normal to Nightmare bots overnight, and now Nightmare bots are babies to me.

It takes human players to catch me by surprise now, so I'm at the point where I need to up my tech and combo strats if I want my win counts to be higher than 2/40 with my friends! That's how I wound up here reading strategies, and now I kinda want to engage with the community as well. SkullGirls is a fun game and I'd love to meet more awesome people who play it too.

Hello everyone, I'm Laslow.

I've recently bought Skullgirls and it has become my favorite fighting game already. I always liked fighting games in general, but I've always been bad at all of them. But Skullgirls is the first one that I really want to be good at, since it is very fun and I really liked the character roster.

I'm still a beginner, though, but I don't want to lose forever to my friends, so I'm looking forward to improving.

Hey, I'm picking the game back up since I just grabbed my first fightstick. It's taking some adjustment- I'm going back through the tutorials and can't get some things to work (my blocking, somehow, has gone to shit). Right now I'm not even playing second encore since I still have first on my PS3 and am adjusting a few things. Once I get things going, how's the scene on the PS4 for second encore? Anyone up for some practice?

hey what's up you guys, i'm diogo from portugal and i've been somehow of a serious casual almost competitive fg player since 2010! mainly on blazblue, street fighter and smash bros. i've been playing sg for a while now, mainly with ms. fortune/robo-fortune and eliza! but my internet is really bad so i guess it will take a while before i can play w/ any of you. ahaha i'll be lurking around! cee ya

Hey guys, I'm drips. I'm a soon to be student from Arizona. I come from a primarily Smash background (mostly Project M). Picked up 2D fighters a little over a year ago, starting with P4U. From there I drifted around playing the various Arc System Works games, Street Fighter, Melty Blood, NRS games, etc... and while I really liked all those games, there was just something that never really clicked. I picked up Skullgirls last fall, learned the super basics but never really took it any further, until recently. Decided to sit down and actually study the game, and within just a couple days I was seeing marked improvement. I'm only about 40 hours in but, I haven't felt a sense of reward in a game like I have with Skullgirls since I started learning Smash. This game feels better than any other 2D fighter I've ever played, and even though I still have a lot to learn, I wouldn't be even close to the level I'm at if it wasn't for Skullheart and all the great content the community has created for beginners like me. So, thank you! See you guys around.

Feel free to add me on Steam, I'm not on at super consistent times or anything but I'm down to play a few matches whenever I'm on. I promise I'll try to be a half-decent sparring partner :p

I know this isn't a re-introduce yourself thread, but I feel almost obligated to by my own something something state of mind. I'm WrestlerGuile and I've stood with Charlie since when he got his ass handed to him and the sensible handed it back and more. I haven't frequented Skullheart for a long time because my PS3 was stolen and without that, I didn't really have much to talk about in terms of Skullgirls and there was nowhere else for me to go since, at the time, the forum was going some changes that made it, for me, a bit more boring than ever. I still don't have Skullgirls back, but I'll get there soon enough since I have a job now.

So, all in all, it's nice to be back.

BTDubs, Painwheel Best Main1

Salut Orange Spark! Are you on Xbox live as well? I own SkullGirls on Xbox and on steam as well, but I sort of prefer to play on the xbox! I would like to add you as a friend for a few matches, what do you say? I'm also learning French, so in addition to playing, we can practise English and French, hey? Cheers!

Hey mate! I'm desperatly looking for people to play on xbox!!! Add my gamer tag and let's do this!!!!

Hi guys!

My names is Lucas and I'm from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. I'm playing in Xbox Live (360 and One). I liked fighting games, like MK and SF and I play Skullgirls since 1 week ago. The game is good and very beautiful and I'm really loving that combination of a good fighting game and a good artistic project that see in Skullgirls.

Since I got the game, I'm try to search for others players for a online match, but I dont found anyone, only a 3 or 4 people (pro player level, by the way) when I try the luck to found him, but in most time, anybody still playing.

I'm would liked if we get a good number of xbox players and maybe we go to play online. I dont know the cause of little number of xbox's players (I think it's the not released of 2nd Encore for Xbox One, but now we have the Skullgirls of Xbox 360 backward compatibility with Xbox One. This is not more excuse, but the dream of 2nd Encore in One still alive.)

Anyway, my gamertag is: Lucasddst. And my english knowledge is a little good, but to talk it's tragic and I prefer not talk when I play with guys of others country, just listening :P

Steam has the most active player base and the beginner resources thread is a great place to start.

Yo! My name's NoirCore , or Daniel if you want to refer to me by my real name. :P I'm actually pretty new to this fighting game stuff; I've played Smash Bros. games (although casually, and that includes having items on high :P), and I've played some Pokken, but Skullgirls is the first fighting game I've played that's more reminiscent of traditional fighters. I'm still in the learning phase, but I'm getting the hang of it!

I first saw the game featured briefly in a retrospective video on either Street Fighter or Darkstalkers, but I didn't pay much mind to it until I saw it streamed about 2 months ago by a channel that doesn't usually play Skullgirls, and it piqued my interest with its characters, world, and art style. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of its lore when I looked into it more, and I got interested in watching the story modes and competitive gameplay to the point that I made a Steam account and bought it! I found that my favorite characters were Ms. Fortune (cool cat person with a funny fondness for puns and jokes yet can be serious when the moment is right) and Squigly (cute and elegant zombie opera singer who fights to help the world with her loyal Parasite friend), and not at all for reasons related to the upper torso or abdominal areas. (I don't really pay attention to that kind of fanservice :P)

Other stuff about me:
-I like anime, mainly for the art style. I actually made my avatar, which is supposed to be reminiscent of me except with highlights in my hair and awesome goggles. I don't really draw much cuz school projects/laziness.
-I am a sports fan, specifically of Pittsburgh sports, as you can see in my avatar. I usually try to avoid being biased, though. :3 I also know wrestling, so I won't be that one guy who uses THAT John Cena meme. Maybe other memes, but not that. :P I'll instead list all of Jericho's armbars.
-I like bad puns. Blame YouTuber ChuggaaConroy for my PUNishing attitude. :PUN:

Hope to have a good time! :D

Hey all. Playing from Toronto; never played fighting games much before but looking to start. Not really sure what to expect because I've never taken a fighter seriously in terms of learning mechanics and practicing.

Hi, people on the internet. You can call me Ribbon.

I just remembered that I bought Skullgirls back when it was on Steam sale in June, and decided I'd finally get into it. This game feels a lot like Marvel vs. Capcom 2... in that I have trouble with combos, mix up which input calls assist and which one tags out, forget my assists exist 90% of the time, and I generally suck at it (though I feel like I improved a little over the last few online matches, at least after I stopped trying to play Peacock). Still, I'm loving it, and hopefully I'll get better, now that I'm here. I've never really taken a fighting game all that seriously before, mostly just played Marvel 2 in the movie theater by the college I used to go to (and even that was just screwing around with Hayato/Jin/Mega Man/Hulk more than anything). I'd like to try playing this seriously, though I'm a bit worried that my internet might be too crappy to play with (can't really do anything about that though). Hopefully it's acceptable.

Playing from NY.

Hey everyone! I've had the game for awhile now, but I had never properly introduced myself. I'm from Philadelphia, PA but currently in Mobile, AL. I would say I'm still at a beginner level in the game for real. I've got a couple people helping me learn stuff. My steam id is http://steamcommunity.com/id/COOKpls/ hit me up anytime for games.

I tend to type WAY too much, so I'll just give you the rundown.

-Always wanted to play Skullgirls/get competitive with it since I do know alot about/am also into most fighting games(i.e. BlazBlue, SFV, Mortal Kombat, Smash Bros.[The only one I play super seriously, ironically])
-Could never buy it at any point/Was intimidated because I felt like a human in DBZ watching all these incredibly fast tournaments.
-Mobile version was announced, and I both want to get into that/get into the community as a whole.
-If I had Skullgirls I'd probably play Squigly, (strictly salty)Parasoul, and/or Ms. Fortune.

Hope to get to know you guys/Have fun!

Howdy! Name's Liz!
I'm an artist, I make bad art and music and I enjoy playing games, talking to people and listening to music.
I own a 3DSXL and my Friend Code would be 3926-7390-6694.
Pleased to meet you all!

Hey guys,

I'm Kenneth, but most today call me Abez, i'm a pad player, been playing pad since the genesis days. Now a days I don't get much time to game, but I haven't lost my edge. I play and sometimes still play

Mortal Kombat 9 (Johnny / Reptile / Cyrax and Kabal)
Injustice (Shazam! / Deathstroke and Doomsday)
Tekken Tag 2 & Series (Mokujin) - I do main Bryan and Lee but Mokujin because Masochist
UMvC3 (Captain / task / Vergil or Deadpool) - I play everyone but Doom, Skrull, and Phoenix
KOF XIII (Everyone except Saiki - never unlocked him. primarily a Duo Lon main)
Skullgirls (Fortune / Fukua / Valentine or Beowulf / Parasoul / Peacock) - play everyone but double
Blazblue CS - EX (Play everyone but lambda, nu, and mu) - mostly a taokaka main but JIN
Soul Calibur Series & Soul Blade (play everyone but I main Raphael / Siegfried / Yoshimitsu and Hilde)
Super Smash (Ganon / Samus and Ike) - not my best game but I love the shenanigans
Street Fighter Series (Koryuken) - Nash is always my go to. But random gets a lot of love from me
Persona 4 (Mitsuru the waifu / Akihiko) - all but teddy. I just don't like him.
MvC2 (Ryu / Jin / Captain A or Nash / Cyclops / Scrub Thanos) I play everbody except poor tron :c
Children of the Atom (Psyloche)
Marvel Super Heroes (Psyloche / Captain and Hulk)
Killer Instinct series (Spinal / Shadow Jago / Sabrewulf / TJ Combo - hell everyone! I play all of em)

I love my fighting games, but I don't consider myself an expert. I never played in a tournament setting because work always came first and family before fun. I'm a writing, an artist, and often times I'm a dreamer. I want to make a thank you game to the FGC. To Lab Zero, to Mike Z. To Capcom, to Arksys, to SNK, to Iron Galaxy & Double helix. To Mane 6 and all who have a passion for fighting games. I want to make a fighting game with a deep narrative about conflict resolution and I want to call it Forebearance.

Shoutouts to Ninja!!

And rest in peace those who tried but lost the will to fight

Hi Everyone i go By Baron Von Jiggly (if that's too long just Baron) i Tried making an account on here before but i already frequent another Forum so it was hard to keep track. so i slowly creeped into silence

I've been a Fan of Fighting games For a long time now ever since i was a small child. as i grew i came to love them more.
the first Fighter i ever learned all the Special moves for was Marvel vs Capcom 2 and ever since i started to love them. I've never been to a Fighting game Tournament though i should go eventually. Mostly because i don't have confidence in my skills enough to join one. But i should still go to enjoy one

I followed Kinuko, Persona, and EU03 on Their Visualblog MECHAFETUS. And than they Posted the Skullgirls Trailer and i was immediately 100% interested. i followed Every post they made about Skullgirls until it's eventual Launch. and Bought it as soon as i could. I played it and was just so in love with every aspect of the game. and ever since i've been following it pretty closely and loving it. Sadly i wasn't able to donate to the kickstarter for Squigly and co. because i had bought a new computer at the time and couldn't afford to donate. (which i made up for by backing Indivisble as fast as i could) And than i started to Follow the Lab Zero streams pretty much every day they streamed when i could. i loved Watching the Best UI guy Brady work his magic. EU03 making all those Palettes. ( i can't remember what he was playing but i remember there was a stream where we talked about Fire Emblem awakening and he said if i record his words i would get his Tharja poster since i didn't have it...Sadly i had no recorder ;^;) Kinuko and Persona where doing great jobs on the Games Art and Animations. It was all around one of the funnest times of my life. Sadly though Life came around and i had to stop Tuning into the Streams. i still followed the general Development of Skullgirls and Lab Zero as a Whole.

I've been to Anime Expo multiple years now Where i have met the Lab Zero team and bought their stuff. Last Year i commissioned Kinuko with Megaman and Astroboy's Sisters
And i have also Seen Render many Times only to Forget his name as soon as i see him. ( I feel so bad for this seriously )

Other than that i don't really have much to say so here is a list.
- I love classic Sega basically anything before the 2010s from them imo is pretty great and everything before the 2000s is pure gold ( Outrun is my favorite Sega Series )
- I also love classic Capcom because they were really amazing in the past.
- I draw a lot i want to become an animator. ( i drew my avatar and more stuff. i haven't drawn much Skullgirls aside from a few Peacock drawings however )
- the music i like is generally Video game stuff, Sypmhonic music, almost all Jazz lately a lot of Jazz Fusion like T-Square, and old 80s Japanese City Pop ( if not Persona this wouldn't be)
- A final thing about me I love Apples like almost too much i swore off all Soda and just drink Apple Juice now.

Well that's it basically. this is all i have to really say about myself. it's a pleasure to get to be in this game Community.

Hey, started playing this game. It's super fun. Really like the fast pace, accessibility, and cool system.

Used to play a lot of fighting games in the past but, then I stop playing to focus on school. Just got back into these games after a long break (work/school/stuff).

Getting owned by all the more experienced players but, the game is still dope.

I play on steam. SoCal area.

Hey y'all, Im MalboroOverking, im a begginer to intermediate player, i play on pad and play using only one character, i started on vanilla and bought the game again on ps4 recently, hope to improve and learn, im from honduras and have a rivalry with my friend who i share my copy of the game with, even if we arent both very good we like to fight each other with every character and then with our mains.

Hello everyone, I go by Nicklecat in the Michigan Smash Bros scene where I am mainly a lower intermediate player. So I decided to play Skullgirls at a FGC monthly and I had a ton of fun even though I had no idea what I was doing lol. Since then I have played as much as I can, just mainly trying to get combos down and what not. As of now I only play Valentine, but I am interested in playing Ms Fortune eventually. Oh and I play with a regular PS4 controller. Hope I can try to improve and be a solid player one day.

Howdy.

The name is TEC_Chaser. Just TEC or Chase is fine with me. I'm a Smash player from Dallas who has been getting his feet wet with other fighting games such as this and SFV. Mostly play Fukua with Filia as a sidekick. Eventual goal is to not get destroyed.

Hello. I am probably unlike most of the other people here.

Not counting Smash Bros., I am thoroughly not a fighting game player. The controls completely elude me, as is the concept of comboing. I tried playing BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, then Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but I failed to get a win rate of above 10%. I have signed up for and am part of the Skullgirls Mobile beta, however. Hopefully, as a beginner-level player, my input will be of use.

I actually have never played the Skullgirls base game. I backed the IndieGoGo campaign for DLC and was intending toget the game on my Xbox 360, but the 360 was rendered unplayableby the time the content actually came out. I did secure the soundtrack, however, and as I collect video game music, I wasn't too down regarding that.

As far as video games are concerned, my favorite franchises are Pokémon, Rhythm Heaven, WarioWare, Meteos (the falling blocks puzzle game, not the League of Legends player), and Mario Kart. My favorite genres are 3-D platformers and kart racers. I also have a soft spot for the Sonic the Hedgehog series, as I have been with it from the start in 1991 with the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog, and I've seen the franchise through its ups and downs.

I do not have much of a competitive drive, but I do play in competitions. I was previously a tournament player for the Pokémon Trading Card Game until it became too expensive for me to continue to pursue. During the 5th generation, it also became tougher for a Johnny player like myself to create decks I'm satisfied with. Generations III and IV had all sorts of weird cards to make weird decks, but they kind of dried up with the Black and White sets.

However, I am currently a competitive pinball player. When I compete, I fall squarely into the middle of the B Division, though because placing well in the PAPA (Professional and Amateur Pinball Association) and IFPA (International Flipper Pinball Association) Circuits requires travel around the country, and I do not have the time or money to do that, I can only compete locally, which kind of kills my ranking. Between when I got into pinball in 2012 and today, I have an encyclopedic knowledge of pinball and keep up with current releases.

I do not main. If a game has multiple playable characters, vehicles, civilizations, or whatever the equivalent is, and there is a Random option, I will select that 95% of the time or more. If it doesn't have one, I will either select all of the playable options as evenly as I can or pick whomever or whatever I don't see very often. This is probably a reason why I am so bad at traditional fighting games, but I don't really care. I find that I get bored easily if I play as the same thing for too long, and eventually, I get bored of the entire game. If I use the entire roster, however, I can continue to play the game for years and years.

Another of my interests is trivia. I hope I can expand the list of known references in Skullgirls by identifying things others have not yet found. My specialties in trivia, besides pinball, are astronomy, American animation, silent-era cinema, flower identification, and anything related to One Piece, but I do know at least a small amount on a very wide variety of topics. Because I write the TV Tropes recaps for the 2012 version of Littlest Pet Shop, I also have an exhaustive, thorough knowledge of that show. (Part of the reason I did that in the first place was to make a detailed recap for a series that almost certainly would never have had one otherwise.)

Finally, I like to collect plushes. I have a few rare ones, including the complete Sugar Rush set from Wreck-It Ralph, a shiny Glaceon from Pokémon, Dr. Eggman (I didn't find a good one until 2015), and all of the major villains from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic except Tirek and the Sirens (I currently have plushes of Nightmare Moon, Queen Chrysalis, Discord, King Sombra, Sunset Shimmer, and Starlight Glimmer).

And if anyone is wondering, my avatar character (currently) is Cleo de Nile from Monster High. I took a photograph of the collectible figure specifically to use for this place, as comparisons with her and Skullgirls' Eliza are obvious. (I don't really have much of an interest in Monster High. I just really liked how these figures look. I have Cleo and Draculaura, and I don't really intend to get any more. Maybe Ghoulia Yelps.) I might eventually use this avatar on Anime News Network too (where I go by leafy sea dragon).

So yeah, there I go.

Yooooooooo, this is really REALLY cool.
Disregarding the fact that I didn't even know professional pinball exists. Hell, I thought no one made new pinball machines anymore.

I don't think that's true...
As long as you have a solid grasp of the basics (in my case I consider it to be spacing and movement) I think you can be a pretty good player, irregardless of number of hours spent in dedicated training or lack of combos.

I want to read your autobiography.
By god, I really want to read it.

Heh, I'm really bad at traditional fighting games. Like, really really bad. Ordinary people in online matches whup me left and right. Smash Bros. is the only series I can play decently at, and its status as a fighting game is shaky.

As far as pinball goes, I'll say this: Game of Thrones pinball, released in 2015, recently got a tier list established among competitive circles. If you pick House Baratheon (bottom tier), you may be able to get to Wall Multiball faster than the other houses, but you're probably not going to beat someone using House Martell (top tier), who gets to add one ball to any multiball at any time they want. Meanwhile, House Greyjoy's (high tier) "Plunder" mechanic allows you to take abilities from houses you defeat, but this is high-risk, high-reward as opposing houses are stronger when using Greyjoy than the other houses. (And Greyjoy starts with no abilities besides Plunder.)

Maybe I'll make a dedicated pinball topic if I want to go into any further detail though.

All right, I will do just that! Give me some time; there is a lot to explain. (By the way, I actually do see potential in a Skullgirls pinball machine, at least in gameplay. Not sure about sales though.)

Mornin'. Name's Rabbot. I'm a writer when I can be arsed.
Story time is good time, so lemme tell you a story.
A little under half a year ago, I got into Skullgirls. Way too late, if you ask me. I think it's a damn shame I missed out on the initial boom of fan-created content, but I don't lament it too much. People tell me that the game is 'just some silly waifu fighting game', I think those people need to be beaten over the head with a shovel. I met my ex-girlfriend through looking for someone to talk to the game with. We hit it off good. We had it going good for about half a year, and then I was a idiot and did some bad. I don't want to talk about it, but long story short, I had to make some changes in my life in the hope she'd take me back up. That's an ongoing battle, but looking back, I can say with extreme certainty that I am infinitely better off today than I was a year ago.
So, in a roundabout way, Skullgirls caused me to change my life for the better. That's pretty impressive for a 'silly waifu fighting game' if you ask me. It's also inspired my love of art-deco and jazz. I'm not sure of exact release dates, but I think it's funny that I saw Bioshock when it first came out and had a very 'meh' opinion on the setting and score, and then Skullgirls smashed into my life like a motorcycle-sized brass fist.

I have a semi-passing interest in the early development cycle of the game. I'm probably the only person on the lower eastern seaboard that has copies of prototypes from '05, but I'm not sure. Serious brownie points if you can tell me where my avatar is cropped from. The world presented in Skullgirls got it's hooks in me, but the early-dev-cycle world feels like I'm exploring an alien planet that was obliterated save for a few chunks. I feel like I'm trying to piece together a story from nothing, and considering that the build quality of the prototypes is awful (no disrespect meant, but they are) that's a pretty impressive job. I've played games developed for upwards of three years that don't get me as interested in what's is going on and half the time I can't even get the early builds to boot. I'm constantly on the hunt for old art from the team. If you find it and send it my way, I owe you a shot of whisky.
Right, it's five in the morning and I haven't slept since six in the morning. I'm out. Look forward to meeting you all!

Hello, everyone! I'm SonicDolphin117 and I've just recently got into the game on Steam a few days ago (better late than never I guess).

I've had quite a bit of experience in the past with fighting games before this one. Smash Bros was a childhood favorite and I still love to play Smash 4 on rare occasion. My favorite fighting game, however, has to go to the Killer Instinct reboot. I cannot recommend that game enough. I've been playing that one for almost three years, so much to the point that I got good enough to place 17th at this year's EVO. It really boosted my confidence as a fighting game player. I've been interested in Skullgirls for a while now, and I finally cracked and bought 2nd Encore during the summer steam sale.

Starting the game, I immediately decided to main Filia. Her moveset and gameplay style reminded me of Sonic the Hedgehog from Sm4sh, and I still like the Sonic franchise to this day. My eyes were also drawn to Fukua as a secondary because it would be relatively easy to jump to her since she is very similar to Filia.

Gotta say, though, Skullgirls is a lot harder to learn than I initially thought. Getting combos down is still hard for me to do consistently, and online is a little discouraging with how overwhelming the pressure can be. If you want to see that experience, you can find my youtube/twitch channels where I streamed my first two days playing if you look up my name. I love the way this game handles, though, so I'm not gonna give up on learning it so easy.

I've heard good things about the Skullgirls community, so I felt like becoming a part of the forums would be a good idea. I look forward to having some fun matches and good teaching sessions with all of you!
