Double Big Band Peacock
Well we're getting pretty close to having a finished Big Band so I figure it's a good idea to have this discussion now. I've heard some people saying this assist is too good, and I've heard some people... you know what now that I think about it literally everyone who's said anything about this assist has said it's too good. But that's part of why I'm making this thread, if you have some sort of other opinion about it this is a logical place to talk about it.

Here's the factz:
-2 hits of armor
-sliding untechable knockdown on hit
-goes almost full screen but not quite
-usually hits characters out of the air although sometimes they get over it
-starts up in 26 frames, reaches its max distance in a different number of frames (that's harder to check :( )

My own thoughts are that even without the untechable knockdown this assist would still be really good, so just have it not do that.

It's really good, but it can be beaten. Ex. Parasoul's j.HK.

I think it's a little too good. I wouldn't ask for it to be less good, cause dealing with too-good-things is what you gotta do, but it could stand to not as good while still being awesome.

It can be jumped on reaction, beaten out by stuff like sweeps and Fortune's omnom, and the fullscreen version isn't the easiest thing to convert off of. It's very easily punished, and isn't a surefire reversal like the popular assists of some OTHER characters out there.

Big Band is crippled enough, please let him keep his magical sax fists

@mcpeanuts how much can peacock get off of a full screen brass knuckle on reaction if she has some meter?

I say keep it. As a Cilia Slide assist user, I don't see much of a problem with it. When preemptively called, it isn't too bad since its a little faster and breaks armor. However, getting to call it is a whole different matter entirely if your up against a pea-band... Still, I say keep it.

Just Argus, as far as I know. Squigly is the one that can really capitalize on it. You can hit confirm into Center Stage xx Opera and then go wild.

H Brass Knuckles assist gets Big Band killed REALLY quickly if you get a little too reckless with it. Big Band's gonna end up with a LOT of red health. And in most cases, you're not gonna be able to combo off of it due to it being a sliding knockdown from that knocks them across the entire screen.

Oh yeah, forgot about Squigs. That girl gets full combos every day.

But With Peacock I can get assist, item, argus, hp bang for about 5k, 7k with a second argus; it's 6k and 8k if the brass knuckles is a counter hit. If you get a tenraiha you can run up and combo.

Actually, peacock can call assist, call item, have enough time to see if it hit, then run up and get a full combo by dropping the lvl 1 item at max range.

Edit: may only be in the corner, I forgot to check and I'm not home now.

Can she actually do that? I'd imagine she'd be too slow to get all the way to the other side of the screen.

I think the assist is fine. It's just a better lock n load but BB is bigger and easier to hit after blocking it. It also from my experience doesn't change anything between a characters chances vs valentine because she just scalpels it for free. idk how much that matters to people but I think its important when one of the top 3 beats it for free and its considered too good.

It's a better Lock and Load, but Big Band is also easier to hit once it's over. Add that to the weakness of armoured moves to lows/multi-hit, making them worse than DP assists for defense and the fact that it only covers horizontal range and I think it's fine. I'm sure Peacock can Argus > SOID > Argus > Bombs > Argus, but why would you nerf an assist just because characters can get damage off of it by spending meter? If we're taking away the sliding knock down, you may as well make it impossible to combo off of Pillar and Up-Do.

Yeah, if you're nerfing Brass Knuckles to stop combo-ability. You can't really nit-pick with something like that, it would have to be across the board.

I find this totally agreeable.

It is mich easier to hit BB in his leaving taunt. Considering that no matter where the opponent is, BB will end up right in your face waiting to get hit.

On a knockdown yeah, but this is a sliiiiiiding knockdown

Assists causing knockdown are supposed to cause green bounce, though. Sigh. Titan Knuckle doesn't cause it, I guess, but Titan Knuckle assist is only good for Fugazi.

You have to hit him with light attacks, though, or you'll get super'd by over half the cast.

You should also mention that you can't duck this assist and it will push you back even if you block it.

Though this assist sound and looks way to good its actually not as strong as you might think. I have only played against it a few times but I already found that super jumping it makes the assist just a huge target. There is also the fact that it has only 2 hits of armor so its going to be hard to call this assist while blocking. Overall its a really strong assist but I don't see it being any stronger than bomber. (bomber is still better lol) Once Big Band comes out we will have all the time in the world to find ways to beat this assist and I can already think of a few.

I'm actually more scared about Big Bands other assist options that have not been fully explored yet.

I think Bomber is easier to deal with, but that's opinions I guess.

Like Giant Step?

Giant Step and his DP as assists look really strong to me but I don't know as Peanuts said I don't own this game. :P

Just give it time and you can find a way around everything in this game, thats one of the things I like about this mash friendly game we have.

I'm looking forward to seeing some rushdown backed by H Gstep.

If it isn't better than hornet bomber or updo, then it isn't too good. Unless those assists are also OP.

Also what is it with all these polls and questions about this or that of Big Band being too good? Character isn't even out officially, and big band has a lot of weaknesses. Plz wait til then before attempted neutering. He isn't going to be 3s Chun li, or ST Akuma or whatever people think.

Is it possible to teleport or item release > teleport to them on confirm? I think that's probably the number one thing I'm really scared of out of Peacock/BB.

I'm also of the opinion that most characters that like like MK or HK Bomber now will still get more out of Bomber (especially peacock) than Brass.

Peacock is the best example; I have literally no approach options PW vs. Peacock with Bomber, as it covers center screen's air very well and the startup pretty much guarantees I have to either counter call it or hit it with a projectile/disjointed hitbox.

While I don't have a materialized plan for dealing with Brass yet, I feel like there's going to be counter armor options for PW/Bella/BB, multi-hit/disjointed options for other characters like Parasoul and Peacock, or outright evading it and approaching from the air for characters like Fortune and Val.

That said, I have almost no experience with Beat Extend or Giant Step, and those show a lot of promise.

Probably not, you can only combo off dropping an item then teleporting if it's a level 3, and you would have to use your OTG, which you don't have because it got used up by the assist. (Unless you have tenreiha.)

Well, if theyre in the corner you can.

Edit: Miscreen, though, I think you can go assist, teleport, super for insane corner push.

For the record, Peacock can do a well timed s.HP xx HK teleport to combo off the assist from a distance.

Not sure whether to like that post or cry. PeaBand seems to surpass PeaDouble to me.

PeaBand is better vs everyone but valentine and painwheel imo.

I dont play those two so I have no clue about that. Ill trust you though, doesnt sound unbelievable.

Yeah. I just base it on the spots those two characters can hang at to avoid brass and beat it out. But if you're fighting bella or double you can just stop them from doing ANYTHING its ridiculous. Pea/bomber I could at least reflect and stun the assist, get super'd. But iirc if I do that vs brass I just get decked LOL.

I'm actually (slowly) working on my peacock/big band/Squigly team and atm that's how it feels.

It's powerful and looks like a broken assist, but...

...BB is easily punishable during his tag out and his huge hitbox helps a lot for that. He also takes damages easily during the assist so we have often times BB's health bar with lots of red, meaning that forcing a well placed snap back would be lethal for the player.

In fact, I find matches with BB quicker because his assists both deals and takes a lot of damages.

That's

good to know.

I disagree with this one point, it is really easy to jump over BK and that seems to be its main weakness.

It is a fantastic assist, but we have Updo, Bomber etc, I don't see BK as being overpowered next to those 2, although it is a good counter assist for both of them.

I want to see it slide, at least for now. Big Band is looking to be a slightly difficult point character but a great team support, so unless he ends up just being too good in another area, I think he should have this.
