Japan's views on the characters populairty (NOT GAMEPLAY)

The Waifu Wars begin

The shippers roared, the fans typed, and posts piled high on the forums. Only Mike could win.
Mike "Mike Z" Z ALWAYS wins.

Sitting on his arm chair eating his perogi. Making bets with Render and Wing Zero wondering how much blood will be shed on waifu wars 2: Annie Hunger Factories edition.

Whenever I hear "buta" (Japanese for pig) it's usually not in a positive tone.

To be honest, I feel like it's a joke name, the same way some people would refer to Cerebella as trash.

I thought it was only Filia that they call trash.

Can confirm people call Cerebella trash I have them on the hit list after all.

But in all seriousness japan has a different sense of humor then the West so It's most likely a cute joke

Man then they have a plain mean sense of humor.

BUT I cant say for certain so we will have to make a study to see if they're sense of humor is really that different.

We send several different movies, games, books, n stuff to for them to intereract with (Dumb and Dumber 1 and 2, Beavis and butthead, Daria, Hank of The Hill, Psychonauts, Sam and Max, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, Little Britain, Ferris Buelars' day off, ETC.) and then give several movies, books, games, and TV shows they think are hilarious and send it to us, and see if our media makes eachother laugh.

I have a feeling that they would be laughing at us, not with us,

plus things tend to get lost in translation.

Werent they always laughing at us though.

Because we cant just ignore how xenophobic Japanese can be.

I don't know, it's really after I noticed that "lol that girl has a flat chest" is a running gag in, like, ALL anime that I started thinking Japan doesn't really know how to properly tell jokes on the female anatomy.

honestly I see more westerners use "-chan" as a sarcastic suffix more so than I see with japanese people
If it's being used sarcastically in japan than it's probably more of a mocking, but affectionate, nickname. Like calling a man named Makoto "Mako-chan" or something. It's a bit teasing, but in a more friendly way.
Calling Filia "pig-chan" isn't much more just a little tease, to me at least. Like, if they called Valentine "cow-chan" because of how huge her boobs are, would it be any different?
It's an affectionate tease, like when you call your friend a loser after they make an ass out of themselves or something like that.

Japanese humor is starting to slowly kill me
