Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Annasui is confirmed? Awesome! I was thinking the whole time they missed an opportunity by not putting him(her? it?) in. My favorite part is 6 BTW, because even with the weird bone BS (though, he was around for over 100 years between story arcs, so it's possible he found out about all of this and just gave no fucks) all of the stands are really cool, and the scenarios and fights too.
There needs to be a Burning Down the House stage and a Bohemian Rhapsody stage.

Back to calling Vanilla Ice, Iced cause Murrican copyright laws.

It seems that Old Joseph's "OH MY GOD!" is a less over the top...that's too bad. I liked it.
Also, I played the HD online editon of the Capcom Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game, it's really good, but does anyone still play it?
(does anybody know what day of the month JoJolion is updated?)

For some reason, I'd like to see a crossover with King of Fighters, if only to see how Polnareff and Benimaru would react to each other.

I've never read JBA, there's something I want to point out.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure looks interesting, but the character designs are a little off-putting for me. All those pretty boys with fit bodies in skintight outfits striking flamboyant poses. It just makes me feel...uncomfortable. I don't think I could read Jojo.

I see Jojo characters, and I think, "This is probably how girls feel when they see female video game characters in skimpy outfits."

Think about how game journalists react to a scantily-clad female game character. "This is sexism! This is misogyny! We have to stop this!" A lot of people got angry at George Kamitani for making the Sorceress so busty in Dragon's Crown. A lot of people criticized his character designs and said that women in games shouldn't look like that.

Well, you know what? I would NEVER tell the creator of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to change his character designs. I'd never tell him, "Your character designs offend me! Stop it! Change your designs!" If he wants to draw borderline homoerotica, then that's fine by me. I won't be reading it, but I won't try to put a stop to it, either.

I think George Kamitani should be able to draw ridiculously busty women if he wants to. And I think that the author of JBA should feel more than welcome to draw pink-haired men with pouty lips who wear hearts all over their clothing. I probably won't read JBA, but I'd never try to stifle the artist's creativity or tell him to change his ways, just because his designs bother me.

Take that, Social Justice Warriors and militant feminists!

I would rather see a crossover with Guilty Gear. Let's see how much copyright infringement many rock references they can cram into one game.

EvaXephon Honestly, I felt the same way when I started reading JJBA, but hmm... I guess you could say it's a gradual thing? It doesn't immediately become "borderline homoerotica" and by the way, most of the characters are pretty manly. If anything I'd say that the most flamboyant part is part II, and after that maybe part VII just because of Johnny awkwardly latching onto people. Every other part is pretty tame on the poses and effeminacy. I feel you should read parts 1 or 3 to gauge if you like it. I can't say I can relate to how you feel, because I'm the type that doesn't judge by art-style, but art quality. If it's consistent enough I can look past any oddities.

What I'm trying to say is that JJBA is awesome, and it would be a shame if you missed out on it because of just the art style. Give it a try, it won't hurt you lol.

Pretty much, it's actually pretty manly, all things considered

So, anyone think ASB should be getting it's own thread now that we get an American Release, and quite a few more DLC incoming?

I really dont see a problem with calling him a different name in America. they're not changin his character, his name is clearly a referrence, and VIZ just doesnt want to risk a law suit because I'm sure the owners of the Vanilla Ice name dont care about the character's name in Japan, but localization is another issue.

its like how they called the Kinnikuman figures "muscle" here in America. they still kept to the original storyline, so why should the name matter? And dont give me the BS about "its tainting the creator's original work" a name change IS NOT defiling anything. now if they made vanilla ice piss his pants all the time and act like a total puss, then that is defiling it.

I personally don't think changing names to avoid copyright issues is a BIG deal. But it is a little annoying. It's like when a localization "Americanizes" names for no real reason. It's nothing to get up in arms over, but sometimes it's frustrating and creates a disconnect in a fan-base. For example, there's some people in Forums and IRL who like JJBA but aren't sure how to spell/pronounce Muhammed Abdul's name. Some say it's Avdol, some say it's Abdul. This is a slight annoyance, but when you combine it with probably hundreds of new fans for JJBA after the localization, there's going to be confusion. Like if you're playing Street Fighter and you call the Boxer M. Bison. Anyone new to street fighter would be really confused, right?

While I understand and commend your point, it's important to note that within Japanese culture, the stuff you see at JoJo won't look as homo-erotically charged to them as it might look to us. To the Japanese, the gay man stereotype is still the big, hairy musclebound man (like Zangief).
Also, you really think SJW/MF give a shit about how men are depicted in fiction besides being a excuse for more male bashing? Because, you know, Bruno Buccellati is totally a "male adolescent power fantasy". :3

(On that note, clinging Johnnies and Pillar Men are nowhere near as gay as Part 5.)

On to the latest preview, it's interesting to note that Vanilla Ice is probably the first character to have a color scheme different from the Capcom game. (At least that was my impression.)

The funny thing is I think I hate Vanilla Ice a lot less with that color scheme.
Maybe it's the color scheme of the capcom games that always kinda me pissed off.

Thats more of a lost in translation thing though.

If VIZ changes some names though, I don't think people should be ingrates and get up in arms over it. They could have just as easily said "fuck it. we cant use this because of the names." and again, just because it causes a little confusion doesn't mean its a bad thing. it just means theres a diversity amongst fans. and come on, it takes like 10 seconds to resolve confusion amongst character names.
"I like Iced."
"who?"
"that guy in Dio's army in part 3 with the heart and VI chain"
"oh, Vanilla Ice"

and there is a VERY good reason for the villain name changes in street fighter.
Rhymes with grape charges

Nah, it's not homoerotica or effeminate. it's inspired by the 70's/80's pop culture! Watch some of the older Madonna's video clips ant things like that. you'll see similar poses around. So, it's more like

Aditionally, they're quite challenging when you're drawing human anatomy, it requires a lot of skill to create such poses and put all the details, shading and muscle lines in a coherent place to give the effect you want. In this regard, Hirohiko Araki is darn good.

A similar analogy could be made with Hokuto no Ken, but inspired by 70's/80's action and martial arts movies.

In a sense, where Hokuto no Ken "Tries so hard to be strong and manly it's a bit childish", JoJo "Tries so hard stylish and flashy that's a bit effeminate"

I guess this moment is as good as any other to remember why Kira is the best character in the series.

I'm working on something Kira-related for a school project, but it's not done yet. I may post a preview image though if you guys wanna see it.

Edit: Also what does Sheer Heart Attack say when he chases you? Is it "LOOK MY WAY!" or is that the Duwang talking?

We're making plaster masks for art class atm. I'm thinking of giving mine some touches of the Stone Mask in it's design. Sure hope I don't get blood on it.

Finally finished part 5, gotta get onto part 6 soon. Also finally catching up on the anime.

I'm calling it "Sheer Gourd ATTACK!" Because I can't think of a better pun.
If it's grey it means it's a placeholder. I also plan on adding the design on Kira's Tie in the background.
Feedback is cool too if you care enough to give some.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait to see how it looks as you make it. I love the idea of SHA being made out of a Watermelon, as it is so deliciously silly.

I just caught up. I'm liking Jojolion.

Almost caught up to current.
Liking Jojolion so far, Jo2uke's personality is just really likable and weird.

All these references and fusions of past parts is getting kinda disconcerting though.
One of the adoptive members of Jo2uke's family looks like Trish.

I think Araki took those Sameface jokes to heart...

I think that's the point, with SBR being a "retelling" of Phantom Blood and Jojolion being a retelling of Diamond is Not Crash

Any idea when Part 3 is coming? I've heard rumors of an Oct/Nov window. Good lord how I hope that's true.

Anyone recommend me a good site to read JJBA? I need to catch up. PM me.

Mangable is a good site.

All about dat Mangareader baby.

And I really am digging Part 8, it's really amazing how they made Jo2uke playable with what little they had.
It's amazing

All you need is removing eyes and removing friction lel.

I think people prefer to play it on GGPO over the HD Version, since character health isn't bugged and the netplay is better.
