USA [Feb 17, 2018] The Final Xanadu Monthly - Lock-In! (Arbutus, MD)

ElkyDori

No Quarter
Come out for the swan song of Xanadu Games!

Xanadu shutters its doors at the end of February and they're throwing a going-away party. This is the end of a glorious run. This is the most enduring venue for Skullgirls on the east coast. So come out, pay your respects, and get those SG sets in.

(There may be an announcement regarding the status of the managers' plans at the event, so let's all be optimistic about what the future holds.)

This event is a lock-in! That means doors open around 1:00 PM and the venue will be open until 5:00 AM the following morning. There may be food options on site. I'll try to keep you updated.

Venue fee is $15 at the front desk.

SKULLGIRLS TOURNAMENT RULES
Tournament setups on PS4 (Feel free to bring PC or PS3 setups for casuals.)
Money:
$5 entry fee IN EXACT CHANGE
If double-elimination, I will approximate a 60/30/10 prize split for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on the denominations of cash available.
In case of round robin, 2nd place gets their $5 back and 1st place gets the rest.

Start Time:
Sign-ups start at 7:00 PM. Tournament will start at 7:30 PM.
If you are running a little late and want to be in the tourney, I am willing to delay the start time a little. Tweet me @ElkyDori, message me on Facebook, or DM me here on Skullheart (I am least likely to see this one).

Format:
Double Elimination or Round Robin, depending on number of entries
All matches will be 3/5.

-----------

Other games at the Xanadu monthly...

Typically featured tournament games at Xanadu include:
Dragon Ball FighterZ
Guilty Gear Xrd
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite
Tekken 7
The King of Fighters XIV
Street Fighter V
BlazBlue

These games usually have a $10 entry fee.

CvS2, 3rd Strike, and Neo Geo setups are common too. If there's a game you want to play, bring a setup if you can. I've made friends at Xanadu by setting up a fighting game that I didn't really think anyone wanted to play with me.

Thats my number, if you're running a little bit late THAT'S FINE, just text me saying you are and I gotchaaa

I'll definitely try to make this one. I haven't been up there since...October? I missed the one for November (why did they switch it to Friday at the last minute) and apparently we're not having one for December.

Also, I really haven't been keeping up with Skullgirls, forgive me!

Haven't played offline in over a month, so I'm heading to Xan tonight. I'll be there with a rig around 7:30.

If you want in, then come on out.

Hey, I'm extremely new to the tourney scene but hoping to start coming to learn more than win =/
In any case, other than SG do you know if there will be Melee or any kind of Smash? My friends want no business playing Fighters but do have an interest in Smash, so I might be able to get them to tag along if there is, since I thought Xanadu had a Smash weekly.

Xanadu has a smash weekly but smash at the monthly is VERY rare and I wouldn't count on it. The monthlies are catered more towards traditional 2-D, and 3-D FG's. Sorry, hope you can still make it out though!

My parents deemed this area around Baltimore to be too dangerous for me to drive to and be around.
I don't even know but I can't argue it.

It's outside Baltimore, tell them not to worry. I've been going to the place for a year now and have had no incident. Of course, I am just a stranger on the internet with no real pull.

Yeah they knew it was outside Baltimore from the beginning, they have absolutely no trust in places or people.
I'm extremely upset but, again, nothing I can really do. Just hope something changes tomorrow or so.

The crowd of gamers are very laid back and won't pull any weird shit like that.

It LOOKS like a shady place, I won't lie, but I've been going for about 4 years now and have had nothing negative happen at all.

The problem isn't with Xanadu itself, it's with getting there. My parents think something will happen to me when I'm stuck at a red light or get lost even with a GPS ect.
They're just thinking about the worst that can happen in all aspects.

Okay so the Xanadu Monthly is coming up.

Tournament for SKULLGIRLS starts at 7:30, sign ups will be around 6. We'll be playing on PC unless the console patch comes out.

$5 entry.

The venue is open all day showcasing multiple games and multiple tournaments, if you are interested in UMVC3, SSF4, GG, or anything else please let me know and I will let you know when other games start. The venue usually opens around noon though, so if you want to get there bright and early to play various games go ahead!

COME OUT AND SUPPORT GUYS!!!

Okay so the Xanadu Monthly is coming up.

A lot of people are getting into, or coming back into the game with the console patch and I couldn't be happier. This might be the only month of hype but I damn well will do what I can to keep it up. So were gonna have some changes to the usual formula.

Also, a BB organizer from SOVA is throwing down a pot bonus of an unknown amount, but I am forever grateful and we need to hype this up!

-Tournament Starts at 4PM!!! Sign ups will start at 3!!! With the potential influx of players I don't want the tournament going late into the night.

-$10 Entry????????? (5 is fine let me know)

-PS3

COME OUT AND SUPPORT GUYS!!!

Store opens around noon if you wanna get in early casuals.

Sign ups for games such as UMVC3/AE2012/KI/BB/GG usually start around 2.

LET ME KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO HELP ANY OF YOU OUT.

JUST COME OUT AND PLAY.

(We'll probably be able to stream top 4 as well or at least finals.)

@Nephinel @Outlaw_Spike @Broseidon Rex @Skiller @winnie @ElkyDori @drewski @mpgame99 @IknowReal Matt I always forget your tag on here but I know you're coming <3

ANYONE ELSE I FORGOT TO TAG SORRY

Keep in mind on top of the tournament entry you are REQUIRED to pay a 10 dollar venue fee at the register for being apart of the monthly.

Let me know if you have any questions.

571-230-0711 for future reference if you need to get ahold of me/running late to the tournament/etc

Cool, I'll enter this time! (I forgot last time because I was also in tournaments for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue)

Hopefully XBLA will receive the Encore update by that time so I can get in some serious practice.

Dude, do you seriously go to Maryland every month?

I respect that, that's 500 miles for me.

Whoops. Must have caught this one by accident when I created the new section. Sorry.
