Hey folks, just wondering, where does your FGC communicate about tourneys and what not? I'm needing info from your whole scene about hosting a tourney in the Oklahoma area and what it would take to get you guys down for it.
 
the kcsrk facebook group is where most stuff gets talked about.

Unless I"m involved, then it involves people pestering me on steam

So, I might have mentioned this, but the entire Oak Grove crew is interested in learning Skullgirls, so I'm gonna be going out there next week and will be teaching them to play. Anyone interested in coming with me? We can carpool from my house. Its about a 45 minute drive because rush hour traffic sucks ass though.

what's the schedule look like for the megabus? I don't think I have any graduations or magic tournaments this year and wanna hit it.

I dunno yet. If its anything like last year, we'll leave on Thursday morning and arrive Thursday night, and leave late Sunday night and arrive back in KC early Monday morning. The Megabus station is very close to my house (about ten minutes away), so we can work out some sort of parking situation if people want to meet up here. My parents live really close to me and we could probably park on their street. If its only like one person that needs to leave their car here, you can park in my driveway and I can park in the UMKC parking garage. Apparently the campus police are actually ticketing people now, my roommate's friend got one not too long ago, so leaving your car on my street Thursday night/Monday morning without a permit probably isn't a great idea. But we have options for parking and it shouldn't be an issue.

I can vogue for Megabus being really great, I used it for UFGT 2013. Its usually the travel option of choice for broke Smash players because its dirt cheap, but honestly I think the Skullpals are super burned out from driving to tournaments at the moment. Megabus is super comfy, and although wifi was broken on our ride I guess most of the time its not? Only downside is when we arrive in Chicago we won't have a car readily available to go places to eat but I think we'll manage.

Last time I went I got a round trip special from KC to Chicago for $5. If there are any specials like that again I'll be sure to let everyone know and post them in this thread and the Facebook page.
 
If I can take 5 days worth of food + cook ware alongside my stuff, then I don't have a problem with Megabus.

You get one suitcase (there's a weight limit) and a carry on so I think you'll be fine. AJ ran into problem's last year when he tried to bring his setup though.

Oh yeah, and if this is locked in we should book the hotel room sooner rather than later.

So I've been going over in my head lately whether or not Friday Skullgirls hookups at my place are a thing I want to do or not again.

First off, this community isn't hurting for a place to play games OR Skullgirls players. We have AJs place at Saturday, and now we'll have Thursday because the Oak Grove guys really want to learn how to play the game. Three nights in a row of games for myself...seems a bit excessive.

On the other hand, I have Google Fiber, we had a decent stream presence when we used to stream, and it was nice having a night specifically dedicated to this game.

So I guess the question to ask is: would you guys show up to a Skullgirls centric hookup on Fridays again?

Maybe we could get some sort of ranbat league going with cash prizes (or just 'prizes' so people want to enter and play). Who knows.

@alexpi and @Speakeasy , when's the next time you guys can make it down to play at a hookup?
 
I work Fridays and now Saturdays ( orz af), so it's pretty hard for me to come out to things on those days. I go out to Blue Springs on Thursdays instead. No Skullgirls gets played there, though. :/

Bleh, well that sucks!

You mentioned you wanted to learn more about the game, so any time you have a free minute and want to do that hit me up!
 
At some point you're going to get tired of the "I'm busy" excuse and run me out of the scene with torches and pitchforks, but.... I'm busy. Between work and school and transitioning I don't really have a lot of time for fighters. The time I do have, I usually spend playing Persona because that's the game played at the hookup I can go out to. I definitely want to actually get good at Skullgirls though, so maybe I should put Persona on hold and grind Skullgirls enough to come out and be able to learn from you guys.

I do intend to request off for a Friday and show up to a Skullgirls hookup relatively soon, though. Work is pretty flexible with that kind of stuff so it isn't a huge deal if I give a couple weeks' notice. Whether or not Alex can come out remains to be seen (reply you jerk).
 
I've been busy but for less dignified reasons than work. There's been a long string of high end Magic tournaments that several friends have been going to and I've been doing playtesting. I can probably weasel out some time, as I don't think the next really big one is till May
 
Tuesdays are actually kinda ok for me.
 
Fridays and Saturdays are my nights off. I'd rather things happened over the weekend otherwise I'll be showing up late and leaving before anything really even happens..
