Kirby Thread - Eating Is Good

I miss playing Kirby...I remember playing Dreamland on my old Gameboy Color.

Now THIS looks like a series that's going to be improved by the 3ds. I think the addition of another area to look out for will make Kirby really add something new to the franchise.

That looks good. The graphics look about the quality of the Wii one, and the couple of additions it shows are nice (giant hand smashing Kirby into screen was pretty surprising). I'll think about getting it as more trailers come out.

I keep waiting for them to bring back combination powers like in the Crystal Shards.
It's never gonna happen, is it?

Never ever.
Hats are here to stay, I think.
Ideally, I would want to keep the high quality of individual powers from Super Star (like how they all had 4-5 attacks instead of just one) but also get back that awesome fusion ability. It would be great. It would be a ton of work, but it would be great.
Although the new 3DS one seems to be taking some of the way the backgrounds/2.5d stuff worked in crystal shards, so that's cool.

Same, I love the multiple moves for hats instead of just one.

The best thing they could give us is combination abilities, each with 4-5 attacks, but that would be asking too much of them, wouldn't it? :'(

My favorite Kirby titles are Crystal Shards, Superstar Ultra, and Epic Yarn... yes, Epic Yarn is one of my favorites... don't look at me like that! It had a giant teddy bear that creates a lollypop for you out of the in-game currency for stitching his foot closed! That was the cutest thing ever!!!

I wish they'd bring back Kirby's friends, it always felt kinda cool how they modified Kirby's powers also Butter Building, every Kirby needs it and Dynablade she was a pretty cool bird.

This is the thing that makes me get a 3DS.

I still need to get a new Wii to test that out. I liked the Meta Knight mode in KSSU. Welcomed change, especially Galacta Knight.

I've been wondering how fun it is to speed run a Kirby game. I'm usually not into speed running (too restrictive a gameplay style for me), but I feel like it would be really fun with all the hats and stuff.

Well, expect to look for whichever ability's broken in a specific game and keep it on you the entire time. Examples include Plasma in SS and Spark in RtDL.

Ha, I was afraid of that. Though I guess it would add a lot of replay-ability to try and do it with each hat.

Also yeah, Plasma is so over powered. Boss rush is laughable with that hat.

On the other hand though, wouldn't it be better to grap Wheel or Wing at times to get through certain areas faster?

It wouldn't. It would actually make it harder because if you get hit, you have to stop, take the hit animation, and with something more powerful, dash, attack, dash, attack, dash, attack.

In some areas, you're gonna have to fly or keep blocks intact. Wing and Wheel are not suited to the latter, and Wheel isn't good for the former either.

Yeah I guess you're right.

My favorite is still Ninja and Magic (the one with that cards)

For Super Star, I'd agree favorites would be Sword, Ninja, Fighter, and Suplex. Plasma too just for being Rediculously good.

Also how many people have played Air Ride?

Plasma was the original gamebreaker
UFO was the original game breaker.
Plasma is like a crappy version of UFO.

Can UFO go through drop-down platforms, survive multiple stages without glitching, or create a near-permanent barrier that lets you hurt enemies simply by walking into them?

So guys, news.
That Kirby 3DS game?

Due out in Japan on January 14th.
A lot sooner than expected, eh?

Also apparently the official name is Kirby Triple Deluxe.
It was in a press release hidden under all the 3DS news

Woah, that's quick. When was this announced?

Actually, it seems to be coming on the 11th. At least, that's what an article on Polygon is saying.

So, um, I haven't followed this outside of watching a Kirby fan friend of mine rant and rave and hype over it. Pretty neat sounding.

Quick Question: I'm a wee bit bored. Any ideas as to what power up I should do a run of True Arena on?

If you are REEEEALLY patient, I recommend Suplex. Using it is difficult, and depending on the boss, borderline aggravating, but the damage output is incredible when used well.

Stone and Hammer would also be good abilities for the True Arena.

Be a brave soul and just go vanilla. >:)

That's really fun. However, it's been a year since I've played, so I gotta take it safe. Like Parasoul.

It's just Kabula, man. He's so fun, but such a damned aggravating boss.

I'm looking for more of a fun experience, so I may roll with Copy.

New screenshots from Siliconera at http://www.siliconera.com/2013/11/25/rhino-beetle-kirby-brings-us-kirby-triple-deluxe-screenshots/.

Apparently, Rainbow-Colored Kirby from the trailer is called Big Bang Kirby, and is capable of sucking up and spitting out much larger objects than himself. Might be Triple Deluxe's equivalent of the super abilities.

Also has some pics of Beetle Kirby and the lower screen, which confirms that a single item can be stored in Kirby's stomach Super Mario World-style, energy sphere-esque collectibles will be coming back in different numbers per stage, and the copy ability ditching ability has been moved from the select button to the lower left hand corner of the touch screen. However, there is a mysterious "button" on the lower right hand corner that has a picture of Kirby sitting on it. No clue what it does, because I currently can't read Japanese for crap.
