First off, I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Silver. I only recently decided to join this forum for a few reasons and think it'll be nice getting to know you all.

I've recently been playing this game more outside training mode against a dummy in Endless Beta. It says a lot about a game when you can have fun fighting against opponents that don't fight back for a solid month, just taking in and appreciating everything about the game. Of course, that should tell you I'm not very good, which I'm not. I managed to beat the 8 main story modes but am saving the 3 DLC characters stories I have for when I get the other 3.(Why didn't I buy them during the Summer Sale when they were dirt cheap? I really, really hope there's another sale sometime soon.)

I've been practicing a bit, and of course have been losing a lot. I've been playing characters I like in terms of their actual character, and out of them have only really won matches with Peacock, since she's easy to pick up and learn. Been trying everyone, but it's pretty hard to drop combos and mess up inputs with a keyboard. Today I tried a controller, but it seemed pretty tough, too. Hopefully I can figure out which characters fit my playstyle and get better.

I'll be keeping track of my progress here..... Maybe..... If I remember..... :PUN:

Hadn't updated in awhile, was waiting to get and try out all the DLC before posting my results. Also, I can't change the title of my topic from this dumb reference no one will get to my original idea, "The Journey To Git Gud".

No surprise to anyone, I still stink, but that's to be expected. I only ever play in "Casual Matches - Beginner" and "Newbies Welcome!" lobbies, and on a really good day I'm about 1/4, 1/8 on average maybe, and 0/X or 1/X the rest of the time. For now, I'll post my most recent thoughts on each character after playing as them all for a good amount of time(or at least their story modes):

Note: I'm playing with a keyboard if that makes any difference. Can't get the hang of those 360 motions.

Filia: Basic and all-around pretty good. I can't get the hang of the air dash which is a huge part of her gameplay, so that stinks. Until I do, probably not going to seriously consider using her.

Cerebella: Surprisingly fun to use, even if I'm not very good with her. Wouldn't expect that from a character who didn't make a good first impression on me(not really a fan of the characters with the more "fan service-y" appearances, believe it or not. Didn't really like Parasoul or Valentine initially for the same reasons. At least Cerebella's fan service isn't too bad, I can certainly accept it now. But I digress) Best combo I have is the end of one I saw only, and even then I can't pull it off consistently(The combo being her power run into Pummel Horse, then Merry-Go-Rilla, then Diamond Dynamo). Still need a lot of work.

Peacock: As a beginner, it's no surprise I've been getting better with her and her spamming. Really enjoy playing as her and she's a cool character, which believe it or not has some weight on whether I want to play them or not. Definitely keeping her around for awhile.

Parasoul: Someone I need to play with more. I'm not too great with her aside from that combo training forced me to learn with her. She seems pretty alright, I might need to try her a bit more.

Ms. Fortune: First off, I really like her design, always have since I first saw it. Although, when I first saw it, I thought she had short-shorts and a slightly longer top to completely cover her, which looks way better in my opinion, but I digress. Her head-based gameplay is really neat even if it is a bit complicated. However, fortunately it isn't TOO complicated. Fun to use even if I'm no good with her.

Painwheel: Also someone I need to play as more. Pretty unorthodox, although I like the "absorb" mechanic. A bit complicated, however. I'll need help with her gameplay if I end up playing her more.

Valentine: Pretty fun to use as one might expect, even if I'm not too great with her. The shots mechanic is pretty neat and I love how she combos. Would need to get a lot better with her if I decided to play her seriously.

Double: Although most find her creepy, I think she's incredibly cool(even though I don't really like gory, creepy, violent, or gross things), and my favorite palette of hers, Neapolitan, makes her look delicious!~ She's pretty easy to play, and is a cool character, so I've been using her often-ish, although I'm average at best. Would need to master her Flesh Step and learn some good combos with her if I wanted to get any better with her, though. I'm serious about Ice Cream Double looking delicious, though.

Squigly: A neat character, although she's is very complicated to play. I see some of the combos that can be done with her and don't understand how those would even be pulled off when I watch them done. Another character I'd need help with if I wanted to use her at all competently.

Big Band: A pretty fun character to use, and his voice is absolutely divine~ *swoon* A really cool character that I'd like to get better as, even though I've never won a match with him online once any time I've put him in my line-up , although maybe that's just bad luck. It's hard getting a hang of his charge up moves. Even though the game says you don't have to hold it very long, it sure seems like I have to. I know I can charge during a combo, although it's very difficult. As I said earlier, a pretty great character I'd like to get better as.

Fukua: Didn't really appeal to me at first, but after being forced to get good with her to beat her incredibly difficult final boss in story mode, I've started to like using her more. She has some good combos, even if I screw them up some of the time, and her Butterfly Kiss(j.HK) is the only way with any character so far I've been able to continue a combo on the ground after having already launched them earlier in the combo. Been playing as her once in awhile, even if I haven't won a single match online anytime I've picked her to be in my roster, either. Not too too good with her, but still someone I've been enjoying using lately.

Eliza: There is a lot I dislike about this character. She's pure evil, really complicated to use, overused online, and doesn't have much going for her to help me overlook her "fan service-y" appearance. Can't do decent combos with her at all, although I like Sekhmet's super armor. Someone I'm probably not going to pursue getting better with.

Beowulf: Another character that's fun to use but is rather complex. It'd be neat to get the hang of him, and I might try using him a bit more due to his similarities to Cerebella in using throws quite often. I would need a good amount of help if I ever wanted to get any better with him, though.

Robo-Fortune: Initially someone I was dead-set on getting good with due to loving her character, but as I've learned online, she takes a lot of skill and I'm not too good with her. Haven't played as her as much recently, though might consider giving her another go.

To summarize, I like Peacock, Big Band, Double, Cerebella, Fukua, and Robo-Fortune, with honorable mention going to Valentine(maybe) and Ms. Fortune(maybe). I'd like to try to get better with these characters, and maybe figure out Squigly and Beowulf so I could begin to like them too. It goes without saying that any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Bonus: My favorite palettes for each character are as follows(Although I only really ever use the first one listed):
Filia: Finn and Jake
Cerebella: NiGHTS, Heavy Weapons Guy
Peacock: Pajamas, Black-and-White
Parasoul: Fluttershy
Ms. Fortune: PS3
Painwheel: Haku(haven't really looked through her palettes too much)
Valentine: Sheena
Double: Neapolitan, Ditto
Squigly: Funeral Dress
Big Band: King Dedede
Fukua: Shadow the Hedgehog, Falco
Eliza: Raven, Jedah
Beowulf: Yamcha
Robot-Fortune: Rainbow Dash, Gravity Suit

360 motions are a lot simpler in Skullgirls. To do them you need 3 parts. 632 4 8 as the direction on the key pad. I personally do 63214 8 which is 2 motions because skipping 1 is awkward for me. Half circle back and up.
Haven't played as her as much recently, though might consider giving her another go.

Do it. She is worth it ^^ Robo I mean.
