Gallery Update Banner2.png
Eliza is virtually finished and will be submitted for testing any day now. Once she enters testing it will be just a couple of weeks until she arrives on consoles and Steam. As with all characters she'll be coming with the usual bells and whistles of a couple of new stages, story mode, tutorials and whatever other bugfixes and modifications they can squeeze in with her. However, Brady has revealed on Twitter that Eliza also comes with the extra bonus of massively updating the already expansive in-game Art Gallery.

People have asked, so: HUGE update coming to the @Skullgirls Art Gallery whenever Eliza drops. About 150 new pieces!

The gallery already includes over 420 pieces so this will make it quite the repository of art! With Squigly's and Big Band's additions the character story modes have gotten more complex with each release. Alex Ahad has mentioned that Eliza's story mode is considerably more expansive than any of the others presently in the game, so these new gallery additions will probably feature a lot of Eliza's artwork.

What kind of additions would you like to see in the gallery? [prebreak]Tell us in the comments![/prebreak]

Fukua was directly mentioned in a few of Brady's other tweets around that time, so it's probably safe to assume she's getting some love in the gallery too!

Oh man. Additions to the gallery. Oh Man it's like running to a candy store all over again. mmmmhhh how about some more fan arts, and unseen drawings from the pre alpha. that would be cool.

So does that mean I already have them unlocked (when they are released) for beating Marie 300% or how does this work?

A nice feature from 3rd Strike Online is the ability to set your favorite music for each menu, out of what songs you owned or collected at the time.

Let's just go down a list or whatever. I don't claim these are easy, hard or anything in-between, just features I'd enjoy
  • Music Preview - we already have this, but read above.
  • Animation Preview - How cool would it be to go through each animation frame-by-frame in-game, preview colors, and the like? It'd probably be nice for previewing if art is final, barring the fact that it doesn't already exist in some form
  • Biographies for each character were a really neat feature from MvC3, where you could see their characters origins, likes, dislikes, canonical power levels, so on. Considering it's an art gallery, I would love for that to be a thing: A readable blob of text, my character doing some sweet poses, and their movie poster / marquee accompanying it.
  • Sound Test. Ain't got no reason to explain this.
But that's just me. The art gallery is pretty neat!

Very eager to check out the new art pieces since the gallery mode was very entertaining.

actually a bio of them all with like them in there idle or such like in MVC3 would be epic and to see there power, defense, speed, ability, intelligence and stuff would be epic X3

Would a normal shot of there idel work or a rather close up shot like in mvc3?

Pretty crazy to hear about so many new additions. I'm hoping to see some pieces from other big name artists in there, along with the new story art, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I'm really wondering when that Compendium will be updated though. It'd be swell to finally have some working images to put into all of these Big Band folders.

Cellsai on the scene with followup research!

I would imagine that'll be happening pretty soon after Eliza drops.

I need to beat Marie 300% for art unlocks? WHY GOD WHY

God, I hope this is not true.

I like the gameplay, but I am more of a lore and art fan of it.

I avoid nightmare mode because it distracts me from the story and because I don't get pleasure on "getting super good."

No you don't. Marie 300% just unlocks EVERYTHING. You can get the art by doing story mode and arcade mode runs or whatever criteria the unlocks have but don't worry you don't have to beat Marie 300% (although beating Marie 300% unlocks some art I think but nothing you need to worry about)

I wonder if we'll get the Art Gallery on the 360 and PS3 versions of SG Encore.

First, the lore. Then, the gallery...What more could we have?

You can unlock everything in the art gallery (except the Marie 300% Ending stuff) by just playing the story modes and arcade modes of every character on any difficulty. Beat Cerebella's arcade mode you get Cerebella stuff, etc.

Beating Marie 300% unlocks everything in the gallery for all characters all at once.

Time to beat Marie 300% :PUN:

Cool I won't need to learn all chars to see all the gallery!
Just need to sbo j.mp j.hk and touhou dodge with squigly for 2 min and I'll be good :D

  • Animation Preview
  • Biographies
Would really love these two, ESPECIALLY bios.

  • Animation Preview
The thought of Animation previews makes me excited. I can imagine a simple menu like:

Character
>Movement
>>Jump (neutral/super/forward/backward/double)
>>Stand (idle, walk forward/backward)
>>Crouch
>>Dash (air/ground)
>Attack
>>Jump
>>Stand
>>Crouch
>>Specials
>>Supers
>Hitstun
>>Jump
>>Stand
>>Crouch
>Poses
>>Win Poses
>>Time Out

You can simply navigate through until you find the animation you want. Play the animation, it plays at normal speed on loop. R1 and L1 speed it up or slow it down With little "1.1x/1.2x" or "0.9x/0.8x" to show how much faster or slower it's going. X pauses, and while paused forward and backward skip frame by frame. Square opens "Button map" to see what your buttons do. Triangle turns on hitboxes, hit Triangle again for Advanced hitboxes, a third time to shut it off. Circle exits the animation.

This is probably the best place to ask so I was just wondering:

I noticed that in the posters section of the art gallery there isn't one for squigly. Was one never made or did it just not get included/won't be included in the art gallery?

Unless it's a surprise addition to the gallery, Squigly never got her own poster.

It's not quite the same, but can't you select what song you want to listen to while in the Art Gallery? Or was that never implemented?

Oh, that feature exists and I love it, but I would probably be prompted to slacker backer thrice over if I had the ability to hear the News theme when I enter the menu. I just.. I would just die!~
