Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

let's be honest the only reason why FoG's has such a high score is because of the story behind it with it getting taken down and the whole meme thing. The game itself is alright all be it buggy and somewhat loose in it's inputs. Is it better than MvCI in terms of pure gameplay? no... i don't think it is. That said it's done well for a small indie team in china i believe.

A little help with the vines/carpet/conveyor belt of fuckery. I know your pain. Ultron/Dorm is like the new generation top tier nightmare team.

I am so confused as to how those thorns even work...its like they dont even have a hitbox sometimes. Thnx for the video it really helped o_o

There's a Nemesis/Haggar team in grand finals at Socal Regionals.

The top 8 was fuckin crazy. If the roster was bigger and better and the graphics weren't so hit and miss, Infinite seriously could've been fighting game of the generation. High level is mind blowing so far and it's only been a week since release

Getting really tired of this game again. Cancels happening so fast with high low mixups during beam supers that make it hard to tell whats going on...yeah...fun...

Had an iron man that just hovered in the corner tbe whole match forcing me to go to him so I could actually play the game which just meant he could go in from the high ground and fuck me up with the one combo he had >_> this game can be really frustrating. When the systems break it quickly stops being fun. Really think tag switches should be limited compared to how they are now. It may slow high level play down but my god itd be better at casual and mid play for it imo.

To be fair, that sounds like fighting Painwheel at mid-level, Painwheels are just rare. :P

Needs better voice-acting and music along with graphics though.

Idk, i never really had an issue with how SG did it. Maybe its cause Im better at SG or something, but I also know most chars have an answer to run away options like that.

Im probably just frustrated at all these shit games I'm getting and getting a number of ppl sending messages after with EZ and shit like that. First time in my online experience to get shit like that and my god its tilt worthy >_>

on a positive note I'm happy with how many X im seeing. Especially seeing the X/Zero team a ot feels good.

I used to use Fiber Upper to knock fly-away PW's down so it wasn't a big issue for me.
I guess the equivalent would be a dp into active switch in this game haha

what

:/ Looking at those scores from last page is a bit ridiculous. Even as someone who loves Fight of Gods (and even made the topic on the forum here about it), I could not say it was better than MVCI with a straight face in almost any regard.

I suppose "don't become a meme" should be added to my notes when making games...

10% of the competence with 1% of the budget and manpower?

still a good start

KBR team redux? i'm up for that

KBR's running Haggar/Thanos this game, which is a team I thought about running.

Anyway the Nemmy/Haggar player got bodied by FilipinoChamp in GFs :[ RIP. Was an amazing top 8 though. I really am falling in love with this game. You just gotta embrace the what the fuckery and cheapness. You gotta be cheap to fight the cheap.

I wonder how much of the fault is Disney fucking around with Marvel Roster. That was pretty much the major, and probably deciding thing on me dropping interest in this game.

Unfortunately, even if so it's Capcom who will suffer the most and Disney will barely feel it.

The meme's about the faces probably didn't help.

Additionally, the collectors edition controversy also hurt the game.

Combofiend's interview didn't do this game any good, either.

Right, memes are a powerful weapon and Capcom shot itself in the foot with it.

Function vs Function 3 The Fate of Two Functions will never be forgotten.

Unfortunately, even if so it's Capcom who will suffer the most and Disney will barely feel it.
I don't think the complete rushed state of the game and everything that came with it is helpful either, then again I don't know if Disney told them to have it out the door immediately or not.

Combofiend's interview didn't do this game any good, either.
I mean, that would fall under the Disney thing technically, he had to bullshit an interview question based on the fact they weren't allowed to have X-Men, which is a Disney call.

That said, the function meme strikes me as so bizarre when used outside of the context for this game. He wasn't entirely wrong about that statement, it's just given the context of the game being a brand exercise made it ludicrous. That and the statement about no one knowing who [Wolverine/Mageneto] are is pretty god damn dumb. Not even the MCU fans know who Nova is for the most part, I'd bet.

That's why the "functions" stuff is so stupid.

Only like 5% of it is correct. It's true that characters are made to fill in very specific gaps in roster play styles.

However, what makes them beloved by everyone is who they are.

Case and point: Guile is 10 times more popular than Remy is.

So, no. Functions don't make up fighting games. Characters do. It's why I fell in love with Skullgirls.

I don't know what else to say. Pretty sure I said everything I could up to this point.

I hope the detractors are finally satisfied.

This is a monkeys paw situation.

I wanted Capcom to learn a lesson.

I didn't want their franchises to die off.

We knew from the very beginning Capcom was in hot water. Thats why I kept pushing for this game. Thats why I wasn't completely furious witht eh DLC (although it still sucks to have that announced dy 1).

The entire series was on life support, and people who are sitting back or bashing it without purchase are already digging a nice grave for it.

But hey, the memers got what they wanted. So that's fine I guess.

However, what makes them beloved by everyone is who they are.
Who is everyone? What does beloved mean? Liked by spectators, or actually played? How many MvC 2/MvC 3 Sentinel players give a fuck about Sentinel as a character?

I'm not even saying there is anything wrong with casual fighting game perspective or spectator perspective, but saying it should determine how a fighting game actually works is baffling.
Case and point: Guile is 10 times more popular than Remy is.
This example requires so much willful ignorance to say with any sincerity I don't understand if you're fucking with me or not.

the lesson that most companies learn in wake of flops is "this series isn't profitable anymore, time to put it behind the shed."
shockingly, video game companies aren't third graders trying to half-ass their science project, they don't "learn lessons" like its a darned sitcom

They have anti-hype. They aren't going to try to meet the expectations for fighting games and build back up their reputation when it is pretty hard and expensive to do so. Instead, they will probably divert funds to less risky projects that have more stuff working for them rather than against. For Capcom fighting games, this means a vicious, self-defeating cycle which will probably lead to them lowering the budget till it reaches hell or just give up altogether.

If they still don't learn anything from this, then they deserve to fail. And that's their problem, the rest of us will be content to play the countless better fighting games we have right now and coming soon.
And all we had to do was murder a franchise. That'll show em!

it's a classic conundrum
supporting something you don't like sends the message of "yes this is acceptable"
not supporting it because you don't like it sends the message of "people don't want this. can it forever"

Love those Catch 22s.

But in all seriousness, the community as a whole has been very vocal about the entire issue around why they particuarlly don't like this version of the game. Only thing Capcom sat down and was all "dude, we need to do som'in..." was to fix Chun Li's Face. After that they ignored the rest. I cringe so hard every time I even think of Frank's lvl 3.. That fucking face man. Most of the hypers are "meh". And it's been said everywhere, not just here, about all of this. Wouldn't a company actually take all this information and reflect on it? Well, no... cause Capcom.

Also Max did his review

Yeah, how dare we not unquestioningly line up to keep buying all these $90 preorders regardless of quality. Capcom is entitled to our money and we're just selfish for not giving them everything.

This

no matter how poorly the games design is nothing killed it more than the FGC itself memeing and just putting the game down from the vary millisecond we saw a trailer for it.

Happened to Cross Tekken... Happened to MvC:I, and it'll happen to their next project too.

It'll happen with their next project if they market it and develop it as bad as they did this and SFV.

Don't act like people weren't hyped to Super Hell and back when this was announced, then the Ryce leak came and put everyone in the dumps, and then the graphics, VAing, little to no actual official display videos, etc. etc.

You can act like Capcom made a perfectly OK product that we should all be buying but let's be honest: Even if Disney was handing down character orders, Capcom half assed this game in a lot of departments that shouldn't have been half assed.

Nobody in this thread has ever once said you SHOULD buy it
it clearly has problems but do they ruin the entire product? absolutely not

I don't know what it'll take to get this through everyone's negative nancy head that nobody is defending it with "well we should buy it"

nobody cares what you do with your fucking money and you shouldn't worry about what others do with theirs nearly as much as y'all love to do.

that and also i bought the collector's edition so, uh... yeah. Not tellin anyone how to spend their money.

Ohhh that makes sense no wonder you're so dramatic and disdainful towards the game

because of YOUR decisions lol

Uh... i love what I got in the collector's edition and I'm sure as goddamn hell loving this game almost as much as U3.

That doesn't mean in any way, shape or form I can't be critical towards the bad practices Capcom has had in place the last couple of years.

Also what is even your point anymore?
