So I'm considering booking a flight to go to this.

Will be my first time in Toronto and my first time going to a Major... a little bit intimidated tbh but this will be pretty much my only chance for some offline SG this year so I do want to go.

Any advice?

In terms of what?

Toronto's a pretty friendly place. I'm guessing you'll be arriving at the Toronto Island airport, I've never had to use that airport myself, but it's pretty close to downtown, so you shouldn't have problems getting to the venue from there.

Bus fare is about 3$ per ride, but you can get a day-pass if you think you'll be moving around a lot. Alternatively, buying tokens is cheaper than paying straight fare, so you should invest in that a bit for what you need.

If you can bring a laptop with SG it'd help give us more setups for the tournament.

Eh I guess I'm just kind of nervous since I don't travel much and I'm a small-town boy. Every time I'm in a city I feel like I'm going to get lost. lol

Didn't really consider any plans to get out and see the city while I'm there but who knows. I guess it would be a shame to go all that way and then just spend the entire time in the hotel playing SG but then again, this will probably be my only chance for offline play for like a year, heh.

I don't have a laptop so you're kind of out of luck on that front.

I have a bit of a quandary, i would like to go the only issue i currently have is i'm also going to be in doa tournament
I'm pretty well known and i'll upset a lot of folks if i don't participate but i do really want to play this also

If you wanna see the "sights" I'd be down to go with you

CN Tower's always a good place to start if you wanna go sight seeing. We also have streetcars downtown.

Regarding Toronto: It is the only city I've ever been in that is consistently growing, getting better and better in every category as more and more time passes. (Better than even NYC in this regard!) Beautiful stuff, for both tourists and living. Bring friends or family. This city rules, and the CN Tower is pretty much the coolest human construct ever, especially at night.

I'd love to go and get bodied, considering that I live in Buffalo, and Toronto is only an hour and a half away on low traffic days...
It would be a darn shame if my friends and I didn't show up.
School stuff may be a threatening conflict, particularly for the friends who would drive me that only play Smash Melee at a casually competitive level..

Anybody know when the online registration is going to open? Getting ready to book my plane ticket and I'd like to get everything together at once.

If ur just goin for Skullgirls no need, pay spectator fee at the door, and pay the T.O (whoever itll be) when things start up.

Thinking of coming to this to record matches, maybe not play tourny but casuals 100%. I still gotta do well in ST

OK, Big news, people. Going to reiterate some stuff with it.
  • IF YOU WANT TO ENTER MAIN GAMES YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER ON THE SITE
  • YOU ONLY NEED TO PAY THE 10$ SPECTATOR FEE TO ENTER SIDE GAMES LIKE SG.
  • SG WILL BE 10$ ENTRY ON TOP OF THE 10$ SPECTATOR FEE TO GET INTO THE VENUE
  • SKULLGIRLS IS SUNDAY ONLY.

Gonna repost this in the first post.

I'm assuming some of you will be showing up on Friday anyway even though there's no SG tournament till Sunday?

I suppose even if you don't there's always SF4 casuals and sight seeing to keep me bussy.

Also, anybody want to share a hotel room?

So, $10 to get into the venue, and $10 to enter the Skullgirls tourney? Yeah, sure. You're going to need someone to come in last place. ;P

It'll be a good excuse to check out the Yorkdale mall a little more, too.

EDIT: Oh, PS3? Welp, sorry. :/

Last edited:
yorkdale mall is extremely overrated, you're better off going to the eaton center.

Friday there's stuff happening at A&C World, not at the hotel.

The hotel tournament starts Saturday and ends Sunday.

I'll be going to the Canadian Arcadian for SSBM on Saturday of the weekend of this tournament at A&C World since SG is only on Sunday. =P

Flight and hotel rooms are boooked. We in there.

See you guys there.

Still internally debating on if I want to bother entering SF4 or not.

I think they're having a pre-tournament SF4 thing on Friday at A&C of the tournament weekend.
On saturday the next day, there will be a Melee tournament for unranked players at A&C.

Ah man I just realized I don't have a PS3 stick and the tournament is on PS3.

That's going to be a hassle having to beg for a stick for every match :(.

I'm debating if I should show up to this thing. Is there anyway of getting a PC rig in there? If not is there anyone willing to lend me a stick?

If I'm not already playing one of my tourny matches, you guys can borrow my stick if you need it. Not sure if you'll like it though since my current stick is bit bulkier than your usual stick.

Maybe I'll be able to find somebody who will dual mod my stick for me at the tournament?

That's a thing that people do right?

Not going to lie, i've never heard anyone do that at a tournament before

Yeah, there's usually a table set up somewhere that'll have people working on sticks. Find that table and hand them your stick and be like yo I want a dual mod, and they'll be like ok this is what that costs, and you'll be like WOW that's a lot but ok

Yes, come. We need at least 20 for stream time.
It shouldn't be any issue to borrow a stick for tournament matches.

Query, will Fukua be legal for this tournament? (I'm not going, I'm just curious)
