USA [May 27-29] Combo Breaker 2016 (Chicago, IL)

So, if we are playing games without the stick drivers as well, we can use a non-cronus converter, right? I'm thinking the Brook Superconverter, but the event rules aren't super clear it's allowed. It looks like it is, but there aren't any rulings about what converters are allowed in the Controller Rules section (only in the FAQ, which says to look at the event rules under Controller Rules).

Sorry about that. I'll get the teams verdict on the Brook and get Controller Rules updated correctly.

Finally got around to registering so now it's official.

Now for official business, just an update on the salty suite. I'm gonna have it open 24 hrs for people just to hang out/do casuals/drink/etc. but I'll be looking for another room to actually sleep. Also I might start a gofundme just to help out with the cost of the suite, but I don't want to start pan-handling and stuff. Given how many gofundme's there are helping people get to CB I don't want people seeing this and going "ugh not another one." Idk I'm just rambling at this point. I'm finished typing.

Unless my finances drastically improve or someone else pays for my travel expenses, it looks like CB is out for me this year.

Hopefully I'll see many of you at Evo.

Some really incredible life circumstances just changed and I will be able to attend Combo Breaker after all.

I was so bummed out about not being able to go to any out of state events this year but im glad now i can go to the one that i know will be the best of them all.
The run back is coming. Hopefully not in pools. I wanna see you on the main stage.

Why do you need a runback? I'm the one with the Ecco the Dolphin 2 world record lmao what do you have? Some food allergies?

I love you though lets play online sometime soon(tm)
Savage. Just like the beating I'm now gonna give you.

yeah I was gonna ask for one anyway.

see me im tied for WR in least amount of ecco played whats good

If you don't have a world record in Ecco the Dolphin don't even act like you're allowed to breathe the same air as me lol
See me when you can cook worth a hoot. I eat so good my weight even went back to normal. What you got stick man?

Thanks for the extended wait while we looked into this. Unless something problematic comes up the Brook Superconverter will be legal at Combo Breaker. The condition is that you use a USB extender so that the converter itself is not plugged into the machine. So long as you're willing to pick up a USB extender cable you're good to go.

hahaha i'm bringing my genesis to combo breaker. you're fucked now.

If we can't play Streets of Rage 2 and 3, don't bother. Don't worry, I'll supply them.

Thats great man, i want some incredible life circumstances for @POS Industries so he can make it there too.

So, who wants to do commentary? Please understand that lots of people want to commentate, so not everyone will be able to. I'm aiming to use varied, quality commentators. As a group, we should make SG commentary the best commentary at Combo Breaker, to the point that people notice and comment on the disparity. That should be our goal.

I know of:

I'd be happy to, but given the sheer number of commentators it won't break my heart to just audience monster.

Though I'm not going, I'm looking forward to watching it again this year. Last year was amazing to watch. Gotta make sure I have enough data by the end of that month.

So, who wants to do commentary?
If I do make it and am wanted on mic, I'll oblige.

i cast my vote for dolfin + peanuts on the mic for grand finals at the very least, top 3 (or more) if possible. I recognize that people want a variety of commentators, but in my opinion of the commentators you listed peanuts and dolfin have the deepest knowledge about the game as well as quality of commentary and generally a joy to listen to. If it were up to me I'd have dolfin + peanuts through the whole top 8, but 1) I wouldn't count out peanuts for being IN the top 8, and 2) again I recognize that a lot of people want to commentate. That said I think to close out skullgirls at combo breaker we should have our absolute best commentary in the last stages of the tournament, and from what I've seen peanuts + dolfin are our best.

I agree that both dolfin and peanuts are very knowledgeable, and among the best commentators we have. I do not agree that two soft-spoken, technically-focused commentators is the right call for a grand finals, or any match, really. Every commentary pair will be talking to more than just the people here. We have to put on a show for all the viewers.
