Metal Gear Solid/Rising - The best is going to end soon

That must have been what happened, I beat him really quickly.
That's awesome though, I love it when you can go back to a game and find new things.

If you really want to see all of his attacks, the machete does little enough damage that you can probably get him to cycle through them all, but even then he dies really quick.

What the fuck, that never happened to me?
link to actual time

Maybe he doesn't do it if you beat him faster or something.
You have to break his shields before he will do the pole attack. And yes, as MMan7172 stated you need to basically do no damage to him or have an unupgraded katana to really see all of his attacks since he has one of the lowest health values in the game.

MGS3 is by far my favorite and I had a hard time deciding between The End, or The Boss. Ultimately I would say my favorite fight is The End.

I always play the fight against The End as a straight up duel between snipers. No other weapons or tools save my rifle, scope, and a handful of rations and flashbangs. Last man standing wins and even though it may take me a couple of hours to take him out this way it's part of the allure I have for sniping in general and I find it very fulfilling to get a kill off him in the end.

The End is a really, really good boss fight, but even if it was just The End or The Boss, I would pick The Boss, for two reasons, which even I will admit are pretty bunk. You can find three snakes in the arena named Solid, Liquid and Solidus, which makes me very, ahem, joyful (See guys I made a joke look at me I'm funny), and The End isn't an emotion, dammit.
Also all the drama and legitimate tear-jerking moments that came from that games entire conclusion.

Yeah, both of those fights are really good and I would have given it to the Boss if I didn't have my bias towards the sniper duel. And cap-stoning the whole Boss fight with the patriot shot and not making it just a cutscene really tugged at the old feels something fierce.

I feel like MGS3 was the best of the franchise and if they had just let the series end on that note I wouldn't have complained.

You know, even though it's not really a boss fight, the encounter with The Sorrow put me on edge when I first played it.
If we're talking about gameplay strictly, than the fight with Volgan in the cage was pretty sick.
And The Fury, while very in-fury-ating, was still pretty cool.
But we can never forget about Beenades...
Man, I really wish my MGS 3 disk wasn't busted so that I could replay it again right now.

quick question, why the spoilers for MGS3 which is a ten year old game?

I mean, a lot of the stuff in the game is well known like who the bosses are.

I don't normally agree with the 'spoiler expiration date' mentality, especially not with MGS, where every piece of gameplay and every plot-point is just so cool that you should experience it for yourself.
I just didn't want to be that guy, the one who ruins someones first playthrough, is all.

I guess. though, the bosses seem like they're the least spoilery since they're shown to you really early on in the game.

I mean, they're nowhere near the spoiler levels of characters like Eva, Ocelot, and maybe Sokolov. I can respect you not agreeing with spoiler thresh-holds. I'm just jaded about not having them after knowing this one guy who would get pissed off at you for even saying if a movie was good or not until the DVD for it came out.

I was more talking about the actual fights, which can be as cool as the designs in their own right.
But I will admit it, I may be a bit sensitive on spoilers when it comes to MGS.
Really, the only MGS thing I will unabashedly spoil is Beenades, because when i tell one of my friends (IRL or online) that haven't played MGS 3 yet that there is a character who throws Beenades, their reaction is too priceless to ever stop, and it's a thing that doesn't really get better with context.

(Also, that sounds like a really annoying person to know.)

I can only wonder just how much better MGR 2 will be, they can take as much fucking time as they want, and they made MGR 1 in little over a year.

What will it be though?
Raiden vs Memes?
Fierce Doge?
Shitposter Gorilla?

Guys, Geoff has been known to take part in Kojima's trolling antics. He should not be trusted.

Well, if its not mgr2, at least we still have the phantom pain.

Remember, Kojima is the guy who fooled everyone to think that Snake is the main protagonist in MGS2 until the game came out. His words are not to be trusted. :P

What if its a double troll and there really isn't anything?

To be honest, my interest in the MGS series really diminished after I played MGR. Rising is more of my type of game.

MGR isn't really part of the MGS series.
That's not a very fair comparison.

It's like saying your Street Fighter passion is gone after playing Puzzle Fighter.

Well that's true. I shouldn't compare the two like that, but I will say that stealth is not my kind of genre. Which is why I would prefer to play rising over the solid series.

It's a side story set in the same universe sometime after MGS4. Codec calls mention the fall of Sons of the Patriots and Rose & John hiding from Desperado/World Marshal. There's enough there, there to be part of the MGS universe.

but I doubt there will be much added to the storylines of the MGS games. it all depends on if we somehow go back to the Solid Snake era.

Guys, if mgr is cannon, the is ac!d cannon too?!

If MGR 2 were theoretically announced, what improvements would you guys want to see?

I think a lot more could be done with the ninja running, and that there could be a better, more complete combat system while running, possibly some more running-oriented levels.
