Midscreen Doublesnaps ft Squigly, Val and Fortune

I think this is really just squigly tech, as she is the only necessary component. Another reason sing is gdlk tho.

We've (and by that I mean Datagram, not we x3) found a way for Val to do it w/o Squigs but it costs 5 bars and the timing is crazy.

EDIT: Val specific =P

Oh my god that's fucking sick Age. That's totally worth it and also looks cool.

nice, stealing that age, far easier than constantly doing crossunders with jLK and hoping the assist doesnt slip away

edit: nevermind, its hard as hell to get the jumping bypass in time, how do I even do that?

edit2: neverminding boogaloo
found it, if youre struggling with the quick jBypass try doing a 180, from down to up, with your stick

what happens is, you do the quarter circle forward input for savage bypass, but you add another quarter circle for the jump, the game still remembers your input for bypass and you buffer it for the jump so to say. heres a shitty paint drawing to make it easier (note that you have to do the input sort of slow, otherwise you wont be jumping):

That's called TKing. Also known as tiger kneeing or instant air. Named because of Sagat's old tiger knee motion ending in an upforward.

Thanks for the picture tho, val's rack looks nice.

ah thanks, arts degree here i come

sadly it only works on cerebella, apparently her hitbox is wider when knocked down which is why bypass hits in the first place

i sad ;__;

Have you tried cancelling the bypass pre-hit and doing scalpels as an otg into AD j.mp? I can't test it atm.

yeah i tried, theres too much delay between scalpel animation and AD though, they just jump away before jMP hits

The original is also possible on parasoul, but this double snap is really hard and inconsistent so I'm working on an easier one. I have to test it on various weight combinations and make it as universal as possible though, so it is going to take a bit of time. The general concept is to do a launcher into an air chain then snap them while they're in the air so you have more time to bypass xx scalpels ad j.mp. This 2 meter double snap kill works on parasoul/peacock (parasoul on point, peacock as the assist), but yea I still have work to do.

good idea, ill probably try something like that later on, will report back as soon as i find something

This is harder than I thought. The fact that you weren't able to hit the j.mp wasn't because they hit the ground again. The scalpels otg after a TKd bypass conveniently makes the hitboxes of the other character dance around the j.mp or j.lp.

It's almost beautiful how perfectly it whiffs.

edit:

Ok so there are two things that need to happen in order for this to even be possible. The snapped character has to fall from at least half way up, maybe even 75% the height of the screen. Anything else is gonna involve to many frame precise inputs that will be totally useless in a real game.

The second is that you get slightly more than minimum height on your jump, so you can actually dash and hit them instead of just flailing around underneath their bouncing body.

I am able to get the snapped character fairly high but it's hard to measure because the camera zooms out as soon as you hit the upper boundary, but it involves snapping after the 3rd hit of fortune's fiber upper. What this means is we need to be able to hit both characters with something that pushes them up and away and then immediately do the double snap. My current set up to get them at a decent height is
cr.lk, s.mk, hk fiber upper (assist), snap
I'm going to test it on double to make sure it works on her as well, but I already did it on parasoul and peacock so everyone else is covered. The only thing that needs to be found is a val combo that ends in a launcher of some kind then a snap.

Midscreen double snaps feat. Squigly? OK!

And why not, since Krye gave me this idea...

Double only, all hilarious.

This gives a whole new definition to combo loops.

Cerebella does that for her mid screen assist kill too.

Shit looks weird.

One bar. Too bad I'm terrible with Cere. Datagram completed it though.

works on everyone but double and big band
You don't have to do the combo just do the" j.lk, j.mp, j.hp, snapback" part from about half screen or closer and the rest should work. It's not that hard once you get used to TKing.

Edit: for parasoul and probably bella you're going to have to do j.lk after the j.lp to get a follow up

WHAT HAVE I DONE?!@?!?!?!!?

Thanks for the set up, I saw that its a lot easier to do when the snap pushes them into the corner. That set up might work for cases when they don't land in the corner but I think the efforts are better used in designing combos that succesfully carry the various character weight permutations into a position to get to the other corner.

Also, if you ignore the dash stuff you can just s.LP to get the confirm after super.

Not usually, it largely depends on where you are when you hit scalpels. It's much safer to AD.

Tried doing this and the assist keeps falling out after the initial j.hp j.mp(2) j.hp loop.

and after doing TK Bypass Scalpels, they aren't high enough for j.lp to work, I doubt s.lp will work either as mentioned in the comments.

it does work, but its ridiculously hard to time consistently
feels like about 2 frame window to hit the air dash into jLP

using a second scalpel super right after the first one allows you to IAD into jMP and catch them easily, but dat meter doe

if we could only combo from a ground dash into the snap, this would all be a piece of cake

do the snap midscreen, dash into them, do another snap and youre free to combo
but i guess thats asking too much huh mike :<

I've never had trouble doing the combo but timing can be weird if the characters are separate weights.

I've tested this on everyone, so I know that they are high enough for the j.lp it's just that the timing is a little hard, but on some characters s.lp doesn't work so you're probably doing the combo on one of them.

i believe its also depending on the height of your bypass
if youre too close to the ground itll be much harder i guess

also i tried some variations with a second snap to make them comboable
but nothing seemed to work so far, theres no way to dash into range and somehow get another snap off

duck save us!!

Well I wouldn't say I'm the best at execution, I had trouble doing TK Bypass to begin with...

Tech is cool but I'll think I'll shelve this one for later.

if you have trouble with TKing, check out my awesome drawing a few posts earlier
i bet i could get a job at lab zero with that

Well I guess I could try a vertical HCF but originally I was grinding my stick on the edges of the square gate to get the TK motion out.

Has anyone pulled it off in a match yet?

Has anyone pulled it off in a match yet?
no, too many risks:
-have to get the TK dash right
-have to get scalpels at the right height
-have to dash and connect correctly

even in training mode i managed like 1/15 tries

It was more directed at mpgame because he scary and such but still. I think it can work locally if you get used to it. I started to get it 1/5 when I was working on it that day. Hell, if you miss the height, just don't scalpel.

False. You got rid of the assist characters red health. That's not a waste. Especially because it's a LOT of red health.

EDIT: Also, the assist that was caught is typically a defensive assist [Updo, Pillar, etc], so getting that out on point does a number on their team composition anyways.

Not exactly a double snap, but could be useful.

Damn dude that's awesome.

We have a thread for those in general but apparently they aren't awesome enough to keep it active.

You can also do it with Savage Bypass assist, but the timing is super strict and dependent upon the characters being hit.
