[Oct 17, 2015] CEOtaku: Party of the Century 2015 (+ Horror Nights) (Orlando, FL)

Horror Nights is really expensive! Do we go for an awesome backup plan?

I'm surprised we're losing to Persona and Under Night when at most tournaments we have more numbers. I wonder if there's less overlap between Skullgirls players and anime players than we thought.
 
Well there's also the fact that people might have prioritized CB, SJ or NEC instead and the fact that Canada Cup is pretty close to this means that some players will choose to focus on that.

For some of the games on that list this is going to be the biggest event of the year, but that isn't really the case for SG, so I think it's comparing apples and oranges.
 
We got more confirmed attendees in the thread than actual registrations. People dragging their feet on sign ups.

This is kind of a thing I've been saying (to non-SGC people) for years? Skullgirls isn't anime. It's an American art style (Tex Avery girls) by American artists. It's a 6-button game. It's reset-based. Less than a third of the cast can airdash. There's no hitstun decay. Hitboxes are kind of tame. Bursts don't technically exist. There are no wacky systems (like Negative Penalty, Vorpal/Chain Shift/GRD, Persona cards, Tension Pulse, Overheat, or Magic Circuit). You recover in place. There are no instant kills.

Mortal Kombat is more anime than Skullgirls is. The only reason why we go along with it is because we get put into the same corner as all the other stuff that doesn't make main stage (and we even get snubbed when anime is the focus, like the original banner for CEOtaku demonstrated).
 
I'm pretty sure we're nothing but epic memers or furries. maybe both.

on an unrelated note, i don't think i'm gonna be able to get the time off. We're super short staffed and the trainees are unlikely to be ready before late september at the earliest.
 
I really want to go but I may be a bit short on money for a room.
 
Speaking of which I have an empty bed in my hotel room. If anybody wants to go halfsies, hit me up.

Im not a fan of HHN so im just not voting, but Im sure ppl just dont feel like spending the money :/

I have a job now so I voted for HHN, the split is still pretty savage tho
 
I would just hang out in CityWalk if people are cash strapped, fun and cheap. They have a movie theater, clubs, food, etc. I have a feeling people are just gonna turn up in the hotel though :p
 
Just booked my room and Ill be there friday. Kinda sucks the ballroom isnt open till Sat.

I'm solo in my room with 2 double beds at the moment.

This comes at a really great time but it's my first major so I'm likely to just fuck off and never interact with you over the weekend.

Same goes for broseidon if jason declines and you want to split a room or something.
If I'm going I'll be doing SG, +R, and VSAV.

Welp, my chances of going to this are rip. Some kinda writing test that we have to take at Uni is scheduled on the 17th. Missing it could mess with my enrollment for next semester, and I'd rather not take that kinda chance.

Well there's 3 people in the room right now and I think I'd rather have a bed to myself but if you end up going and can't find anyone else to bunk with hit me up.

So my car just broke down and I dont know if im going to have the money to fix it before CEOtaku. Anyone going through the Tampa area? If you are PM me and maybe we can work something out.


I can also house like 2 people if they want to be able to hitch a ride back to tampa.

(Like 30 minute drive depending on traffic)
 
Weird, same thing happened to me earlier this week. I had the money to fix it, but it makes any tourney travelling before the new year unlikely.
 
I feel like we should be doing better than this :/
