Come one, come all (who have the game or are interested) to the Official Animal Crossing New Leaf thread! Some may be wondering or like to know about how awesome Animal Crossing is in general, so here we go!

Animal Crossing is a life sim with the intent to give the player and ideal setting to present an ideal life of living on your own. The main goal is there is no goal! You can do whatever you please. The biggest problems that you come across in the world of Animal Crossing is the occasional swarm of bees chasing after you for shaking the hive out of a tree or just barely missing the chance to catch the super rare bug. Build your ideal town, talk with your villagers and furnish your home in whatever way you please. Money isn't even a big deal since a certain bug or fish could very well be worth the entirety of your home! You even have a lovely secretary to help you with official matters.

(So kawaiiii =3=)

Animal Crossing New Leaf, the latest game in the series, puts the player in the position of the Mayor of the town which allows players to freely create projects and adjust town ordinances without hindrance.

The purpose of this thread is for basically anything and everything New Leaf related! You want to trade something? Post your request here! Need some help understanding how something works? There's probably someone who knows! I know that I'll do what I can to help out. I've been playing this for a while now so I could very well help with whatever. So don't be afraid to ask about anything.

So enjoy your time playing NL by enjoying it with others! It'll be fun to get together and create some Animal Crossing friendships. Have at it.

Secretary? Pfft, we all know that Isabelle is the REAL mayor of your village. >__>;

Shhhh don't tell her that. All that power will go to her head.

I seriously wonder if she gets some satisfaction constantly telling me where I can and can't build things in MY village. :C

Well I don't think it's very wise to build a cafe ontop of, essentially, an immovable and indestructible rock. Or maybe the idea of setting up a campsite in the middle of the river isn't so bright eh?

Though I am pretty steamed that I can't build anything on the beach... That's super lame.

Haven't gone to my cafe in a good while and it just got annoying to pick a site for something, away from trees or what I thought was far enough from the water only to hear some BS excuse as to how it got in the way of something and being told to pick somewhere else. >__>
I also wish there was some way to choose where new neighbors moved in, finally convinced a blue eagle to move in...only he moved in like literally, a step in front of the mayor's/Isabelle's building. =/

I can understand that though, would have loved to put my lighthouse on that lone patch of beach I have in my village, instead it's just coconut and banana trees everywhere. @__@

Actually there is a way to find out where your new villager will move in. It's a method that requires the creation of another character file, but you can literally delete it after you're done. Basically, you create a new character, check out the town, see if you like the spot the new villager is moving in to, if you like it, make a spot for your house (that you can later destroy), OR if you don't like it, reset without saving and try again.

All this has to be done BEFORE you open your main file for the day though, so first thing in the morning make a character and make sure everything's ok. And there you go :P

....
or they could have just given the player the option to decide where to move the new house, after getting a list of things the new resident takes into account when moving to a new area, something like, "I prefer an ocean view or I like to live near the river."
Either way it'll be a little while before I may try this, one of my neighbors is finally moving out soon and then it'll be the waiting game of trying to find a decent new camper to convince into moving. :D

Oooor talk to other people and go to their towns to convince their villagers to move to your town. When they're in boxes you can have someone come by and bring them to their town :P

After finishing my fossil collection in the museum, I feel like I don't have any reason to go back to my town.... is this a problem?

Yes, because you like Lilligant while I like the version equivalent, Whimsicott.

But no, that is a pretty big problem... I mean, have you got all the trophies and sets and is your catalogue complete?

I stopped playing mine SUPER early on because I had to retrain for a brawl tourney then skullgirls happened then college started and work too
Ugh, my friends even already found out how to dupe crowns for cash
Im barely on my first project (bridge) and I kind of want to stay away from it because I got super OCD in City Folk ^-^;
But Im willing to pick it up again soon

Well then hop to it lad! The more people we can get to start an underground AC:NL Black Market, the better!

Also, I thought that would be helpful in some way down the line:

The revival.

I just got a perfect peach on my first day playing. What should I do with it

Bury it.

Make more perfect peaches.

Sell them in other towns.

try to at least save a bushel of nine perfect peaches in one stack.

never know when those trees will lose their leaves and you gotta cut it down.

Ohh yeaaaa . . . I forgot to keep uploading my costumes . . . so I'm a gonna just dump as many as I can

I haven't played this game in about 6-7 months and I'm honestly scared to go back because all my villagers will hate me.

I always interpreted Animal Crossing as a scathing commentary on the plight of the working class members of a capitalist society.

You show up in this town and you're immediately saddled with a massive mortgage debt and little ability to pay it off. You then live out your life in a Sisyphean struggle of clawing your way out of debt, only to immediately accumulate more debt to "upgrade" to a larger home that you can then fill with more material goods. You carry on and repeat this process over and over again.

Animal Crossing is the study of how much freedom do you need before you succumb to your own innate greed to keep paying to complete you need to fill your home with the material goods in order to continue the endless cycle of want and need.

Also, people keep giving Tom Nook the wrong idea. he's just a guy wanting you to live comfortably. if he really was a loan shark, he wouldn't allow you to pay your bill whenever you wanted.

As much as I hate tumblr I must concede I love the look of your page, DDB

Don't worry, most people hate Tumblr. I only use it for picture stuff.

check your privilege cis shitlord

Back on topic, I want to start playing this game again, but I don't want to face the angry wrath of the townspeople. Might just start all over again.

I don't have to deal with scarier things, like millions of weeds.

Thank you Beautiful Town ordinance.

That's the main reaosn I'm holding back on starting again... I haven't played in half a year.

Why don't you guys just set the clock back to when you stopped playing. Mr. Resetti can't be that bad.

Wouldn't moving the clock back just make it seem like even MORE time has passed?

Not if you do it right. If you set the time on your DS to a day later than your last save before ever turning the game on, when you open the menu for the game, it'll literally register it as being turned on a single day later, and your shit is still intact.

I've ordered a 3DS XL along with Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I've been thinking of what name to give my town before I start playing. My question is, how unoriginal or cliché is Maplecrest?

Reasonably unoriginal. But that's not always a bad thing. I mean, my town name is Fortuna.
