    I think moreso than the statement that console/platform creators want to make sure single player games stay around because they want narratives/stories (which is still true). I think that having a personal challenge one can progress through at your own pace is why single player games won't be going anywhere soon.

    It's like how PC gaming has been dying since the 90s.
