POKKEN

Machamp should not be able to guard but have every attack break guard cause

Don't really care about competitive viability, tbh. I mean, look at the broken shit in Pokemon. If people want to play it competitively, which they will, I'm sure they'll make it work.

Q: Congrats on making Pokken a reality! And thank you for that! Rather than tweet you a request, today I've got a bit of a query: in Pokken Tournament it seems like Pokemon trainers do not exist? It's not that I'm requesting for them to make an appearance, but rather I'd just like to find out if that's the case.

Harada: Worry not.

Interesting. Maybe trainers will be like your profile or something. It'll be interesting to see how it goes.

Guys I got it. About the blocking thing.

You know what move Pokemon use when they want to negate damage? They use Protect. Blocking is Protect in this game. BUT. Remember the properties of Protect. Using it more than once in a row increases the risk of failing. Obviously if it worked the way it does in the RPGs (aka based on luck) that would be annoying, so how about this:

You have a guard button. The first guard is free, you can block anything. The second guard and every guard thereafter, you have to time hitting the block button to when your opponent tries to hit you. Every time you block, the timing window decreases until you hit the point of timing a Third Strike parry. This way, the opponent can deliberately mistime their block strings to goad you into using a bad Protect and open you up.

I'm just imagining a playable Cresselia... probably won't happen but I can dream...

aka it won't be comp enough for the pro circus clowns and their juggling skills

Froslass sounds like a neat fighter, pretty Chestnaught is a shoe in... (pls)

well then fuck those guys. they can get gud and learn to not juggle.

juggling is for chumps anyway.

Chesnaught needs to be the Q of the roster
minus being the low tier

Chesnaught needs to be the Big Band of the roster

Fixed the post for you, much less words, same idea.

Primeape needs to be mix between a boxing and a grappling character.

I kinda wanna see them pull a couple pages from Type Wild, have Swallot as a full-on grappler, but all his grabs involve eating opponents (maybe involve Stockpile/Swallow/Spit-Up or something, I can see that working for a fighting game much more than it worked for the RPG).
Gengar as a tricky mix-up character.
Breloom or some other grass type as a long ranged melee fighter.

I can see Gardevoir being viable. it'd be more of a keepaway character if anything.

It doesn't matter
I will still eat a species to extinction

as long as you're dedicated if it happens I don't think we'll care all that much.

Non-Humanoid Pokemon that I think would be cool;

Arcanine
Darkrai
Aegislash
Tentacruel
Landorus

The fact that with such a renown IP that will sell regardless might mean it could be pretty experimental, so I look forward to the final product.

think about it, what do you need to make sure you don't stop doing in a fighting game that he just recently did?

he was a total hint for Pokken!

Look at Gardevoir's disgusting across command grab and zoning range in TYPE-WILD

Yeah it's not an official game but jesus christ I don't want Gardevoir in, fetish fuel or not

how do you know Gardevoir would be like it was in type wild?

for all we know Gardevoir could play like it's moves have to force you to sidestep. or it can use other psychic moves.

and I don't think Gardevoir should just be left out just because some horny idiots wanna marry a pokemon they think is a sexy woman THAT WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO BE PORTRAYED AS A MALE ANYWAY

it's Japanese name is literally Sirknight

Did you just imply that it would take 18 years for Snorlax to get back up each time he got knocked down if he got in the game?

Thus upholding the long standing tradition of glacier characters sucking in fighting games.

I think it's safe to assume that if you have a Mega Evo, then your chances are high.

Oh my god imagine Mega Swampert just chucking dudes, suplexing everyone.

My personal theory on this game: Every character will have a mega form and it will work like X-Factor. Mega Pikachu will debut in this.

Yes, I know mega evolutions only currently happen to the final evo in a chain, but it's very easy to keep a Pikachu from evolving, and they get a shit load of special features in the games anyway. Mega Pikachu is 100% happening eventually.

Well, actually,
Mega Slowbro is a thing, so it's possible for second forms, maybe even first forms to get Mega Evolutions

Slowbro doesn't evolve into anything though.

Oh yeah. I always forget and think he evolves into Slowking.

And I guess fuck trying to keep people from accidental spoilers.

I dunno. I think how they said that "no Pokemon is out of the question" for the roster heavily implies that not all will Mega Evolve.

I mean, most popular Pokemon do so most of the cast will, but not all.

Plus I mean how else will I have my Tekken battle between Wailord and Joltik. They don't Mega Evolve.
