I've said this on other sites, but I'd say it here.
I would watch a prequel Madoka Magica series.
Be it about the witches before they tainted (either as a cohernat story like Madoka, or as one-offs, one witch per episode), or about the Magi in the distant past/future.

When they were showing the trailers with the character blacked out and a mystery I thought for sure it was going to be oriko magica movie.

I guess the AI YO experience was okay too, seeing it in theaters was a nightmare because people were rude and yelled and screamed when the AI YO was happening. Maybe I just take things too seriously (but I drove two hours away to get to the theatre and my patience was wearing thin and that guy would not stop kicking the back of my chair god dangit GOD DANGIT). Plus other people from 4chan's /a/ board who I thought would be okay sat right behind us and were unbelievably ridiculous. The other people I've met from /a/ can turn on their real life profanity filter but apparently these people didn't know how to do that and it was so fucking embaressing to be associated with those people I'm getting way off topic.

The transformation scenes were so damn cool, and the movie was good, but the ending...
It really disappoints me that they had to change the ending to be open ended. It was originally going to be a happy ending where Homu and Madoka end up together, but they just couldn't have that could they ;_;
The plus side of that is that there's going to be more Madoka (probably) and hopefully that means a season two, another movie, or a season two but doing a different Puella Magi Magica story.
*edit- Also I thought it was bullshit that he made Sayaka and Kyouko end up together. That felt like it was just pandering, but I'm sure some people see it differently.
 
I still don't buy that both parties were satisfied, but at least this won't be the end.
Maybe I should finally watch this movie...
 
considering it kind of uh
makes homura and madoka enemies rather than giving them the happy ending they were planning for
i wouldn't really say that all parties involved were satisfied here
 
I finally saw Rebellion story today.
Holy fucking Hell.
What a ride.
I loved every single moment of it.
The ending I've heard so much about wasn't that bad (especially because a nice person in the stream pointed out how important the Lillies scene was, and it really clicked), and as a piece of film media, it suceeeded in everything it set out to do.
It made me have feelings, it left me in awe, and it left an impression I won't soon forget.

The first time I saw it, I felt that Rebellion was better than the entire television series. I'm going to watch it again soon, and I hope I still feel the same way.

This was the other anime my friend suggested to me next to Durarara. I've only seen the first episode, and it's ok. I'm liking the idea of showing the real, dark side of being a magical girl. I might watch some more later, but I dunno since I'm fucking lazy

It was spoiled to Hell and back for me, but there's still a lot I didn't know, and it didn't take away from the experience at all.
The scene with the lilies fucking broke me
 
I hope you guys are at least gonna consider Urobuchi's other works after you're done with Madoka.

It's on the third fucking episode! I thought it happened probably somewhere in the middle or towards the end! This is a lot for me to take in.

He's also known for Fate/Zero and Saya no Uta (which I haven't played... yet), and he's in charge of the upcoming Aldnoah.Zero (which is also mecha), scheduled for July. If people think Madoka is dark they probably should stay away from his more infamous works...

Just watched the original anime on netflix over the course of 2 days...I was pretty speechless at the end.

but now i see this thread and find out there are three movies...are any of them worth watching? A quick wikipedia makes it seem like the first two retell the anime, but I stopped reading because spoilers.

First two are indeed retellings and remasterings of the anime.
I've heard some details are different (Distilling the anime into four hours, some updates and changes(like adding a cute hairpin to Sayaka's magical girl design), but I've heard the voice acting is improved as well.
So, if you want, you could watch those at a later date.

The third movie, however, is basically the sequel to the anime.
You're not prepared for it, trust me
 
I got a funny request.

Last night some of the jyosua stream comments during GGXX AC+R got me thinking. Does anyone have the sprites of the Madoka characters on the Mayship?

Holy fucking butts was Homulily depressing.
Her sheer existence and the fact that a design for a witch Homura existed was depressing enough. But then they actually animated her and somehow made it even worse (EXECUTION THEME? I BEG YOUR PARDON?). And on top of that they also just show what it's like in a puella magi's head as they become a witch.
The entire sequence was like being stabbed in the heart 10 times over.
On, and that sad purple salamander got me too.
God fucking damn, that music too

I think Clara Dolls feel like a pretty obvious attempt to set up a boss rush for later on.

Also that Law of Cycles cosmic diagram showing all the witches' signs connected to her.

Anyway I heard that Rebellion made Warner Bros. buckets of cash. And since WB owns Turner which owns Cartoon Network . . . when's Madoka on Toonami?
 
Yeah, just give me a story of Elsa Maria, that'll do it.

And the Clara Dolls are neat, so I wouldn't mind that either.

As much as I'd love Madoka on Toonami, who knows how likely it is?
People who have never seen it would call it too girly or something and definitely wouldn't stick around for the third episode.
 
We're talking about a channel that aired Sailor Moon and Powerpuff Girls. If anything, Madoka is right up their alley.
