Puella Magi Madoka Magica

It can't be that unreasonable. I mean Toonami has already aired a few Aniplex shows.

We're talking about a channel that aired Sailor Moon and Powerpuff Girls. If anything, Madoka is right up their alley.
Both of which aired during the golden era of Toonami.

Oh the memories.

It's possible, just not very probable, I think...
Lord knows I want it, but you need to remember it's Toonami.
But then again, Black Lagoon is 12 episodes long, and Bleach is approaching it's end

Rebellion like.
It changed me.
NO IN A GOOD WAY.
It like. I don't know how it just completely reinvigorated my passion and love for the Madoka series.
And then that springboarded into me feeling a lot better about life overall.
The movie still makes me sad, but I really appreciate it for help putting me in a good state of mind.

So.... Mami Tomoe was my favorite character but she got criminally low screen time in the anime (still get...feelings when i hear her theme song). Does any of the supplemental material explore her character more?

I think she has a manga side story and she does stuff in rebellion.

If you guys haven't listened to the Rebellion OST it's FLIPPING FANTASTICALLY AMAZINGNESS <3

I believe A Different Story goes into some more depth about Mami's past (As well as Kyouko's)

I'm still trying to track down a way to watch Rebellion....

I'll have to look into A Different Story, thanks.

I should really start watching Rebellion...right after I watch this new series

Different Story focuses on Mami and Kyouko, and she has her own route in the PSP game.
You can read the translations of that on Puella Magi wiki.
And on top of that, she's actually playable in Madoka Magica, the Battle Pentagram for PS Vita.

Speaking of Battle Pentagram, the ending is depressing.
The entire game has been under the pretense that Madoka instead asked Homura "please get everyone together to defeat Walpurgisnacht", and you spend the whole game bonding and fighting with the other magical girls to stop Walpurgisnacht.
And in the best ending?
It's revealed the entire game is just a dream Homura's having.
The Homura at the end of the Anime. But before Rebellion Story.
And if you remember Rebellion Story, at one point, Homura says "I started to wonder if I just made you up"
This just makes the entire game entirely depressing.
Because Homura's dreaming of better times.
Better times with Madoka. And it's just a dream.[

Is there really anything else more fitting for a game based on this anime?

everything is canon with timelines!

goddamn rebellion was a good movie. The music was excellent too, definitely need to get the soundtrack for it (and the anime while I'm at it).

also

Am I the only one that thinks Homura's actions are justified? Madoka's wish (and sacrifice) while noble, ultimately would have been in vain for two reasons:

1. Madoka didn't really remove or overcome sorrow and suffering, she simply shouldered all of it herself

and related to this:

2. The Incubators would have captured and learned to harness Madoka and her power if Homura hadn't done what she did

I finally watched the movie. It was great overall
until, of course the last 15 minutes. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. This just made me hate Homura as much as I did when I first heard about it. Her selfish desire made Madoka's sacrifice meaningless, but at least Madoka still has her godlike form. And isn't stopping her from attaining her true form sort of controlling of? If that's so, then Homura's no better then the Incubators. The kyubey being beaten up in the after-credits was nice, but after what happened near the end of the movie, I can't enjoy that.

In a way, I think the producers are Incubators, too.

If I recall correctly, when Urobuchi originally wrote it he wanted it to end before that point. But the producers wanted him to leave the ending open enough for a sequel. What better way to do that than to flip the series at this point on its head and introduce a new villain?

did anyone else notice this about the end of rebellion
In the rewritten world, it looked like Akuma Homura's familiars were actually drawn more traditionally rather than being all paper craft like earlier in the movie like most witch familiars tended to be over the course of series.

I hope this means we'll get a wicked animated boss rush whenever a continuation comes out.

My thoughts about the movie

Not a big fan of the series. I liked the movie overall, but the ending was just... I don't know how to explain, but it was weird how the best girl (IMO) became the worst in 2 hours. I still use her palette on Bella, tho.
I'm just here for the cake.

Its not over yet. Shaft and the movie's financiers got buckets of money from it.

We all know it'll end with Sayaka vs. Homura just repeatedly yelling each other's names in a big brutal fight scene like the end of scryed or akira or something.

Or the series is now Berserk with Sayaka as Guts, Homura as Griffith and Madoka as Casca. How's that for maximum suffering?

My thoughts exactly. She was my favorite character and now I really dislike her

Please. Please don't bring that up. I'm still recovering from that OVA

I'm pretty certain we're getting either another movie or another anime.

And even then, the franchise is still going strong.
We're getting historical magical girl spin-offs now.

I'm just hoping Sayaka does well in the new anime/movie. She's my favorite, but she's consistently beat or pushed back by all the other magical girls (Homura one shotted her, Mami was more experienced, Kyouko dominated their battle and Kyubi outright called her weaker than the others). In addition, her happy ending with violin boy will never be canonically according to Gen (he said in some interview even if they dated she wouldn't be happy, in one game she'll decompose if you don't grab her gem fast enough after it gets lost)

In the Rebellion movie, it was obvious she became much more skilled, but that got tossed out the window by Homurakuma at the end.

I do hope she's the lead magical girl with Madoka or the one who helps save her, but I digress.

Has anyone gotten the VA's opinions on the series?

Sayaka will probably remain bottom tier and become the Yamcha of the series :/

Well who's the Vegeta, since Homura loves Madoka?

I guess Nagisa might be the Gohan maybe (new kid added at new phase in story)

It's more of an obsession, like how Vegeta is obsessed with fighting Goku (THERE'S your connection :PUN:)

And maybe they'll have some plot line about how Akuma's messing with the universe is causing some sort of unintended consequences.

Also Sayaka assembling a party of new magical girls. Preferably the witches of season 1.

This is now Madoka Part 3: So now everyone gets a Stand.

I'd still kill for an anime or manga about all the witches in Madoka before they became witches.
especially Walpurgisnacht.
Well.
The prime one.
Since they're a bunch of witches together I still like to think there's a prime witch it's based off of.

I just want Mami to be the main character.

yeah but it was only a single volume.

Mami isn't a character with an important objective.I don't think she's gonna be main character in the future.

She didn't get nearly enough screentime in Rebellion, so I'm up for that.

Even better - something with Nagisa AND Yuma.

Given that Homura now has to keep an eye on Madoka to keep her from going god mode, I would expect the same rules apply to anyone with a direct connection to the Law of Cycles (like Sayaka & Nagisa). They will eventually, if unnoticed by Akuma, regain their memories and powers automatically.

Also I expect Magical Girl Gertrud since she lent Anthonies to help Sayaka fight in Homura's barrier.

Yeah, I'm hoping for more Witch Magical Girls too.
I mean, it makes sense we got Charlotte since she actually had production notes on her backstory.
But the other witches those are fuckin' open books.
