    New fighter coming out for PC by none other than Seth Killian. Free to play with option for cosmetics (not selling characters... though we'll see... I've lost faith in fighters as far as that is concerned).

    Here's a write up on it with a video.

    Here's a video for those that can't/won't read.

    This game, is either going to be a success, or a total failure.

    If the game is successful, than it will be like Smash, where a lot of people will scream: "this is not a real fighting game"

    Once i get a new pc i will try this game for sure, looks fun. =P

    Yeah for sure. The no input thing is going to piss off a lot of people, but it might finally be able to break open the market for casuals kind of like Smash did.

    I just want to see some better designs, it seems a bit basic right now, but the game looks cool.

    the animations look smooth and look nice to watch

    the actual art direction feels somewhat subdued compared to high flying weirdness of arc systems games or skullgirls or darkstalkers.

    also i hope the characters get some sort sound filter on their voices. hearing unmodified voices coming out of robots kinda weirds me out.

    I just hope it doesnt use sf4's combo system otherwise theres no way this will appeal to new players. Links are way more of an entry barrier than inputs.

    I wanna play because robits. Chel and Crow are my favorite already design wise. I like how Eva-like Crow is and how much Vlad reminds me of Gigantor

    The whole robot angle is cool. Some of them use it for some interesting appearances, like Vlad. I'd be more interested if they had some that broke up the mold, like a contrasting anime (mostly humanoid with some obvious robot parts) or Gundam-like designs. At first I thought it was kinda going for a Bionicle-like style, which would be pretty awesome given just the amount of creativity you could put into the bits and pieces to form weird but flowing bodies.

    The game looks smooth and fun, but none of the chars, save Vlad and Chel, really catch my eye. They all kinda look...well...Not necessarily stereotypical, but kinda like robot versions of what we'd expect certain archetypes to look like, and that kinda surprises with how little I was impressed with the appearances.

    Looks promising, but I'm not really a fan of the "cooldown on specials" thing nor the no offline multiplayer (someone pls confirm if this is true or not).
    I do like that the online is a big focus, and this just might be the thing to convince my friends to dive into FGs.
    I'm going to try it out regardless. I mean, ffs it's Seth Killian! He knows what he is doing.

    • The robots are piloted. From the pcgamer article: "My favorite character is Vlad, a big Russian mech piloted by a super-intelligent dog, which Killian tells me is super-intelligent for a dog, but 'actually not that smart.'" So it looks like fans should have some fun characters to latch on to.
    • There will not be offline. Again from pcgamer, "... one character has a special move that turns him invisible only on the opponent’s screen." The fact that right next to your opponent is the best way to play a fighting is the biggest part of their appeal to me, but I'm not totally against one fighting game trying a different direction. However, they could totally allow one high-end pc to display two different windows for two monitors for locals.

    Yeah they'd almost need a LAN option then for tournaments. And a way to view what's going on for a third party... unless they are literally discounting offline tournaments which seems crazy to me for someone of Killian's chops.

    Seth as final boss would be amazing. That'd just be too funny for him to show up in a third game. So far, the game looks really solid, but I'm getting the feeling it's 4 button normals. I'm not a fan of 4 button fighters as I find their footsies/neutral game tends to get really stale and doesn't vary much between characters. If someone could show me that it's a 6 button fighter or that 4 button fighters have a ton of variety, I'd be much obliged.

    Edit: Airdash fighters (namely Guilty Gear) are kinda exempt because their neutral game is incredibly dynamic anyways.
    Shoutout to Grangach reminding us that ubiquitous tight links are the real buzzkills for players looking to get better.

    It's a six button fighter with three buttons for normals and three for specials.

    I was wrong, it's actually an 8-button fighter.

    L M H T
    S1 S2 S3 O

    L = Light
    M = Medium
    H = Heavy
    T = Throw
    S1, S2, S3 = special moves
    O = Overdrive (supers are called Overdrives in this game)

    The guys at Drunkard Shade have been compiling all confirmed info about the game here.

    Pressing multiple buttons at the same time is hard so let's add two more and require people to have 8 button sticks. Fuck that.

    Alpha keys are supposed to start going out tomorrow. Good luck to everyone here who signed up.

    I'm hoping the throw and Overdrive button are just shortcuts. I fucking hate 8 button fighters. I've never even used them as macros in a game like SG (much to my own detriment at time).

    I don't see anything particularly impressive about it aside from that. The robot designs are boring.

    6 button sticks are a specialist exception to the 8 button stick standard nowadays so I'm not too fussed about that.

    I'm looking forward very much to playing the alpha. No traditional fighting game inputs thing is brave decision. I'd like to see how well my non-fighting game friends would be able to pick up RF and get to the Real Game part of fighting games.

    This game was meant to be played on a keyboard, so 8 buttons is not far from what the usual moba, or mmorpg player is used to.

    But well, 8 buttons is something you can manage with a normal controller, so that is good.

    And 8 button sticks are the most common today

    I really hope there is an option for a 6-button mapping.
    You can say that they are common, but it super sucks for you if you don't have a 8-button stick.

    I don't understand the attachment to 6 buttons, 8 sounds great to me. It is an alpha though, so maybe they would add a 6 button option if you ask?
