As just another scrub around the block who most likely has no place in this conversation that lives relatively close to where CB is held, I personally think the best people to bring would not just be the most skilled players but also the best for the community. Even if we don't make it very far, most of us who played at CB still hung around and watched, swapped strategies, played casuals, cheered the winners on, etc. Bringing someone who can help feed into the community as well as show off some new tricks would be the people to bring to the table. I voted Mr. Peck and Woofly cause I know they're really cool and CM cause AU really needs more rep than it gets at scenes like this.

Baiken(he's the best player but now he can't play SG) 159man Kei(now his name is HIDE) SIG

Hide/ kei is a beowulf, peacock, band team but is proficient with other character

159man is a squig band player.

Those are the top JP SG players currently listed

THANK YOU! Kei was who I was thinking of. The JP community wanted to send him over here via donation fund raiser haha

Kai should I get the rocket ready so that we may be able to launch these people out to Combo Breaker?

If only counts mainland China (PRC), it's me. But if you include Taiwan or Hong Kong,I may be out of top 3

There are many JP players who you guys will never play because they only play locally. They're all on the same level as SIG, so I'm sorry you guys will never get to play them or even hear about them. If I can, I'll try to record matches to expand the knowledge of Skullheart on the different regions and who their top players are

Appreciated. So far I've played a lot of JP players on steam (even some of the top ones), but I doubt that's scratching the surface.

Would it perhaps be worth putting out a call for each region to nominate their best players and then choose from them (giving some structure to their decision), rather than immediately going "who should we sponsor"? That would also give us a way of getting footage of the players being recommended, etc.

If people think they are good and I think they are not, I will let them know. If I think their theories are full of shit, I will let them know. It would waste everyone's time if I were to start to pad all of my posts out with "yeah im just saying this cos its my opinion i mean you can do what you want and i respect the way you play i just think what i do is viable" fuck that shit.

TL;DR: I don't respect people enough to say things respectfully so please do not give me money to come to events.

No need to thank me for translating that for you.
Wouldn't want you to strain yourself over being a decent person for once.

You are most definitely giving CM too much shit over stuff said on Skullheart. A place that everyone knows is full of people saying ridiculous things and it can be hard to not get mad at sometimes. When you remember that meeting most internet shit-talkers IRL ends up with them being actually nice, I doubt you're gonna play some FT5 with CM where he goes on a a long tirade about how you and your team suck afterwards.

I actually don't know anything about Baiken.

Also if we're looking for other strong Japanese players to consider, someone who is fluent in Japanese should ask SIG on twitter. I'm sure he is familiar with the other strong players in his scene!

So, who exactly do i need to speak to about this thread? and who is able to edit the poll? can we atleast have the OP edit the first post for list of players?

@worldjem and @Skarmand you sure its only you ,yaya, and heropon? i'm checking around to make sure but i found another canada player.

I feel like it'd be easier if each country/area/whatever nominates who they truly think is BEST for being sent and then we vote out of those selected people.

Also I keep hearing Uzu doesn't play anymore.

Sounds good although I may want to change "BEST" to "best among the players who are interested and aren't already planning on attending".

Ok, so we need to have liaisons for each country we're talking about, then. People that can actually talk to the players there, and report back here with information.

JAPAN - ?
KOREA - ?
CHINA - @SCOTT_WHALE ?
BRAZIL - @CaioLugon ?
MEXICO - ?
UK - @Mr Peck ?
AUSTRALIA/NZ - @ClarenceMage ?
CANADA - @worldjem ?
SWEDEN - @zeknife ?

I made some suggestions, as you can see. If you don't want to (or can't) help, just say so. If you DO want to help as a go-between for the players from these countries, please speak up. Obviously, being able to speak the language is a requisite.

From the look of things our best source of info on the Japanese scene would be @cherry blossoms

Very true Peanuts yes let me stroke your bucket of peanuts.

In a normal way though.

UK I'd put Woofly or Mr Peck. It depends on what Peck is doing since he has already gone to the good ol US of AYYY on his own passionate foreign cuteboy accord.

I like the qualifier idea if that's feasible for the region. Offline or online. Removes the politics and favoritism, straight meritocracy.

Edit:

Not trying to bring it back up but Poccola did a lot for the exposure of the Skullgirls on the net and Japan. Definitely deserves thank yous and props (and a couple of the things they would do in vids ended up inspiring LZ). The first time I saw those strong Korea players was in a Poccola vid as well as some of the better Japanese players. Anyone trying to shine a negative light on their contributions is totally misguided here.

I would enjoy seeing them travel and do a vlog regarding the scene/event for the internet/Japan but the goal here is to bring a regions finest.

uzu still plays. you should get a pc ken.

Please do not forget mexico.

ONE THING I DO WANT TO TOUCH UPON WHEN DECIDING.

Take into account not only skill and what not but also the circumstance. For example look at peck. Peck is a good player and can play with some of the people on east....Now look at woofly. Woofly can only play EU. That's all he's got and while there are some decent members in that area. it is essentially a bubble. Logically i would opt for Woofly to go since peck was able to attend CB this year. Plain n simple.

About CM:

TL;DR: just because a dude has a nasty post in the nets doesn't mean he's an asshole IRL. This is for people that happen to have skill not the person that's primarily nice but also has skill. Whatever.

To the members not wanting to fund someone like CM because of his adamant attitude on SH. I mean you could not fund and then leave AUS in their current meta. Letting that area just stay the way it is due to the amount of players currently playing skullgirls. You could say the same for the rest of SGC but there's one thing that seperates AUS from the rest. AUS has TERRIBLE net structure. They can't play much with other people so they're stuck to 3-4 people. IF cm is truly above the rest then you would like to shit on him AND keep him in a bubble?

Atleast woofly has more than 3 people to choose from whenever he wants to play. Korea has a good amount of players and can play with some of US. EU has a good bunch of people (both lazy and dedicated) and can play with US sometimes. IMO that is a problem if you just want people you like that happen to be good. its about giving back to the community whether its informing people about the current meta(and some people need to play offline to really understand.)

I guess Sage is wrong then? XD

We can put Uzu in the run tho thats fine. We'll see what happens, as long as Woofly, practicing Baiken, actually practicing Uzu, or Magicman get picked i'm happy.

He just means I'm the person to talk to about the UK scene, not that I'm the player who should get funded. Chances are that I'll be able to make it there next year on my own accord anyway.

obv, not until next year. If you wanna go to something this year, go to Summer Jam, NEC, or CEOtaku.

...or The Fall Classic if it's in your area. Skullgirls is a free entry tournament there, so why not?

@Kai Anything closer to NJ like PA or NY I want to venture out pass online which I barely do these days cause unreliable internet but factors like money work and children make it hard... don't be surprised if I don't show but I'll try. I want to be apart of the scene more than online and even then I've been absent (under PKSTOOPKID) lately

CANADA - @worldjem ?
SWEDEN - @zeknife ?
Wowwww worldjem can drop like 5k on an indie fighter IGG!
I'm just a kid send me instead I'm broke (I'll find a way to pay for myself anyways, send someone else)

If I knew about stronger players near me in BC I'd be playing with them lol.

Keep in mind me and worldjem are in opposite sides of the continent so I don't know about his players. I don't play EC connections like ever.

Because next year's CB is so far away, it really wouldn't hurt to put out the word on the front page here, on the official SG twitter, etc. that we need each country/region to nominate a player by themselves by a given date (say, end of the year). That way each region gets a say in who *they* think should be going, gives players a chance to practice up and apply themselves if they think they have a shot, etc. This is kinda redundant for AU, but I could see that somewhere like Japan might want to hold a tournament of some sort to determine their nominee or otherwise choose a player that's not objectively best but still very good if they're an up-and-comer, etc.

Slightly OT, but Summer Jam 9 and NEC (both with big, colourful links on the forum index) are both in PA. Definitely check them out first.

Reading comprehension, guys. Come on.

The list I made above was for people to be LIAISONS. Not the actual people to be assisted by this. If we're going to go with a, "locally selected," system, we need somebody to interface and organize with each separate scene.

Oh, right. My bad.

Skarmand's point still stands. Much of Canada is very secluded from each other due to how spread out all the major population hubs are (on top of being sparsely populated to begin with, compared to the USA).

I could be a liason for Southern Ontario and maybe the Montreal/Quebec City metropolis (although I still think @Shnarfl would be better suited for the latter, but he is not very active right now), but I don't know anything about people west or north of southern Ontario or anything east of Quebec. You could maybe ask @Jason to ask around in Newfoundland/Labrador, but pretty much almost each province would need its own liason. lol

Don't even bother asking me about the Yukon/NWT/Nunavut scenes. lol

I only know of the few apparent players like Skarmand, Yaya, and Girlystyle from BC, and that's about it.

Well there's no real reason that East and West Canada couldn't nominate different players, but if/when it gets taken to a larger community vote it could mean that one impacts on the chances of the other I guess.
