Project Skulldate: The Unoffical Skullgirls Dating Sim.

Alright, after hearing community feedback, I'll see what I can do to make the fights shorter while still trying best to maintain their difficulty level.

In the meantime, here's bit of a cheat code you can try out if you want to enjoy the story without the fights: if you name your character SCRUB, you can skip every battle in the game and it will still count as a win (yes, even with the Black Dahlia battle). The only downside is... well, you have to go through the entire game being called SCRUB. Kinda takes the romance out of things a bit, dont'cha think?

After experimenting with the battle system and the power levels of the player characters' moves, I've admittedly found it hard to achieve a balance of perfect difficulty without the fights lasting for too long (to me, one of the challenges of the fights is your characters' endurance; what does it matter if the enemy can do 200 damage if you can just defeat them in 3 turns?). Because of this, I'm considering just keeping the battle system as is and just calling it a "hard mode", and I'll then implement a "normal mode" where enemies have less health.

In the meantime, I've just recently finished the Bloody Marie battle!

As you can see, the strength of the basic attack has been increased for all characters, making Rally much more effective especially when combined with Soften. I was able to beat this fight in 7 minutes, which I think is a reasonable length for a final boss fight. I think once you start getting experienced with the battle system, the fights will go by much quicker anyway.

(and thanks @RPG for providing the Marie attack sprites!)

Don't feel bad. Not everyone can be at Mike Z's level of balancing.
Also, Marie doesn't growl, does she? On all the story modes, she speaks to the characters in a stern yet formal choice of words.
(7 Minutes is the equivalent of 7 seconds in a fighting game, dude.)

Yeah I know, I just threw something there for the sake of the demonstration.

I would think the opposite is true, since fighting game matches tend to last much shorter than any other form of video game battle.

Maybe you could keep the battles as is, and this could be one of the only dating sims with really grueling battles. Heck, is this even a dating sim anymore? Seems very VN now. More so than when I last streamed it.

I'm working on the Cerebella route all aboard the hype train!

View attachment 8476

But I need help with a few things
  • A sprite of Cerebella without Vice-Versa.
  • A sprite of Cerebella wearing Vice-versa with arms retracted
  • A portrait image of Vice-Versa.
Is there anything that I could do? ^u^'

All I need right now is art assists. Thanks for the help though.

So here's a couple of screenshots from the Cerebella route:

It's from Mass Effect isn't it. Shepard says it all the time, it's kinda funny if you say that while someone is still talking to you.

I'm gonna like this Cerebella Route, aren't I.

I feel like I should know what an art assist is, but I lack the smarts. @3@

Sprites, backgrounds, images of characters I need.

Since it looks like LockJaw left the game completely, or if he hasn't, we know he'll be leaving after Squigly's route. Magma and I are officially taking the reigns of SD and are taking requests for routes. So far Magma and I are working on Cerebella (Magma's doing this solo), I'm currently doing Stanley (The story is almost complete) and Filia.

u v u Please give us your suggestions so we can write them down and continue working on SD until its completion!

I wish for all those involved with the project good luck and not to work too hard. :)

Have you talked to Mc.Rad about claiming ownership over his game that he started?
I feel as if I need to ask this question, and I do want someone who actually does work on the game to have ownership of it but, I kinda just feel bad that it's kinda stealing his idea away from him. I mean I would feel awful if some random people stole SSgRPG from me and outed me out of my own project, (though I am irreplaceable in my position my point should still ring true.) I would just claim ownership on your routes alone and not the whole game.

I would say be careful and don't force yourself to do every story fast or at the same time because that will lead into a large drop in quality compared to the Squigly route.

Otherwise good luck!
but heck do a Doug I mean Leduc route I guess.

The game was made to be open so anyone could write a route if they wanted. This is the community's game and Mcrad/LockJaw abandoned it, Magma and I are picking up the pieces and fixing it.

If he wants, @Mc.Rad can come talk to Magma and I if he wants the project aborted completely. If he does, then we will halt the dating sim immediately and do no further work on it.
