Report Skullgirls 2nd Encore (Vita/PS4) to be published by Arc System Works in Japan!

Yo pls. Even If Kai isn't the JP VA for Beo, pls pls pls Kai make a few quick at home sound clips of you saying some classic Beowulf Lines in Japanese. Actually if it's possible we could SkullMod the game and just have Kai do most of the lines in Japanese and put it in that way.

DDB needs to up is JP game because that was completely backwards.

He hasn't gone full weeb yet. There's still hope for his soul.

Tell me Kai will dub JP Beo and he wins everything.

Tweet ASW and demand my inclusion, I'm sure they'll listen :P

Back in reality, though: I might be able to do some funny little JP line recordings. Let's just see how it goes. They may get my Japanese doppelganger, and it'll sound just like me, and there won't be any need. I'd just be happy if he doesn't end up sounding like the one, "funny tough guy," anime voice that I hear again and again, though.

Watch him sound like Bang from Blazblue.

aw geeze now we gotta do this. I wonder if LabZero has any say in with ASW in who gets to voice act... most likely not, but still we gotta do this. This Hype Train has got to keep on going.

Will that silly video from L0 for the Japanese release be in the art gallery in Japan

<no, that wasn't serious>

My dream was that the original cast would just learn Japanese and dub the game! That shit would be awesome!

Has anyone actually done that though? Bilingual dub for an Anime/Game?

Between Mortal Kombat's gibberish and Guilty Gear's Japanese, I'm kinda used to not getting what my characters say in fighting games.
When I first heard Skullgirls characters way back when in the trailers, my thoughts were "I can understand what they're saying. This is WEIRD."
That said, I'm someone intrigued by getting this kind of experience, even if just over some obscure Youtube videos of JP PS4 footage.

The closest to that that i know, is Vin Diesel sayin "I am groot" in all languages for the different dubs of Guardians of the galaxy, but that is a movie, so it doesn't count.

About the japanese dub, i find it awesome, while is one more thing to the list of "things in skullgirls that i'll never experience myself", i find it cool, and while Skullgirls has its fanbase already in Japan, i imagine that little things like that can bring a new audience for the game (and the ps4 and vita are popular gaming machines there, right?). Now is to hope that the localization of the game is good.

We never got the actual vid, but it's the one they made for JAEPO '14

Last time I checked (which was probably a year or two ago), I think they actually do. lol

Well, the more flavors an ice cream stand has the more costumers it gets.

This is amazing! Congrats to having ArcSys being the publisher in JP. So one step closer to having an arcade release!? Super happy to hear all of this happen!

Actually there was already an arcade release in Japan. A loctest if I remember correctly.

Yeah, there was. Just a loctest, though. It was still the English dub, hopefully we'll get an arcade release with the JP voices.

It's supposed to be for NESiCA, yes. It hasn't been released yet, though, so that won't matter until then. :P

I personally prefer my games in the language I actually speak, so I can honestly appreciate this for Jp players. I just wish licensing and stuff wasn't so ridiculously costly. There's a reason stuff like the Gundam games can't get the original theme musics for their games when they localize them here.

If you guys actually succeed in your hair-brained scheme to get Kai to voice Beo in the Jp version to, I think I'd die of amazement. Then again this community and this game has made just as great miracles with just as small chances.

No one at Lab Zero thinks Kai should voice Beo in Japanese. That idea was not ours and no one involved is seriously entertaining that notion.

Ok, so, I thought it was funny, but I guess some people didn't get that I wasn't actually being serious about this. The entire basis of this idea is from a seconds-long joke made while I was there at LZ. "Wouldn't that be wacky," etc.

Guys, come on :P

People want wacky, though. That's why Robo Fortune is a thing. =P

To be honest, though, I was confused when people were talking about it seriously, also.

Long ago I mentioned the notion of the entire English cast doing the Japanese dub because then it'd be the legit original voices in 2 different languages, but that ain't happenin', and especially not now that Arc is getting all their own JP VAs.

The dream is dead. Time to move on (and appreciate ASW's work with SG).

As much as I have faith in the original VAs to do convincing Japanese voices, ASW has a lot more "certainty" going for them in terms of doing the language justice for the dub.

I'm really looking forward to hearing those voices eventually.

I don't know where you got this. As someone who can speak Japanese, and can tell the difference between authentic accents and awful, butchered accents, I can tell you that getting ~13 native English-speaking voice actors to do "convincing" Japanese voices is impossible. That dream was always dead.

Okay so moving on, I don't have much info on who is who in the jp dubbing scene but I always thought the voice actress who portrayed Satsuki in KLK would have fitted for Parasol.

No I'm not suggesting people. One joke taken seriously the wrong way is enough.

You're free to suggest people. We suggested many to ASW. But any suggestions at this point are way too late for ASW to even seriously consider. Feel free to speculate, though! ;)

No, we're not going to reveal any of the cast or our suggestions without ASW doing so first.

Oh boy maybe someone will get to hear the dub there

i really hope some Jap youtuber or someone that can get japanese stuff, when this comes out, release a video with all the story modes with the jap voices and english subs, so i can just appreciate the good or bad VA.
